I've had enough with maxis ftth, after being with them since 2012.

Every year, my internet will be down at least 3 times, and it takes 7 to 10 days to fix it, every time.

i am staying at bandar so.long, any bro here using unifi in this area? How is the speed and what is your package?

There are so many unifi package now, confusing! I am looking at vip5, vip10, and the new advance package. But I heard a lot of complaint on the advance package. Is the advance package good now? I need to upload files as I manage a website, is the upload speed for advance package stable? I am worry it is slow because upload is only 5mbps.

I am using Apple MacBook and iPad. Any issues such as the slow Apple Apps Store previously mentioned in this forum? Is it solve?

I have astro so no intention to use HyppTV. Can I totally switch off the HyppTV device? Will the Internet connection work with the HyppTV equipment totally switch off?

Please advice, thanks in advance!

I'm also in Bandar Sg Long. Unifi here is great. I've been using it for 5 yrs now and I only remember 2 outages which affected me, both less than 8 hrs IIRC. I just recently upgraded to Advance30. Actually it was a choice of switching to Maxis Home Fibre or upgrading to Unifi Adv30. Guess I made the right choice from what you're saying about Maxis.

Speed is good as far as speedtests are concerned. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=77571411

There should be only 2 packages now, Adv30 and 50. VIP no more already except for OKU. https://www.tm.com.my/Home/Broadband/unifi/.../unifi_OKU.aspx

I was on VIP10 previously so Adv30's 5mbps upload is definitely slower.

Incidentally I'm having problems right now with Mac App Store (browsing the store is slow but downloading is OK) but not with iTunes Store.

HyppTV can't be thrown away and your Unifi will still work. I haven't turned mine on for at least 3 yrs.
*
Good to hear that. But mine is on high rise building, a little bit difference from yours, landed property. Not sure it's as good as yours.

Mac App Store slow? Found anyway to solve this? Has you call TM and find out the solution?

What about iPad App Store? Any issue?

in my case, i told them not to cancel streamyx; i waited 2 days after unifi install and all is ok, then go kedai TM to cancel streamyx, safer that way
*
Yes, that is the best way to do it.

I keep my streamyx for weeks after installing maxis ftth, until everything is working fine then only I cancel my streamyx, better safe than sorry!

As you mentioned above, you stay in high rise building, so do I...
Is your Unifi running to your unit on the same copper phone line or a separate cable?
*
I use maxis ftth, not unifi. Now wanted to change to unifi.

But whether it's unifi or maxis ftth, all the residence here using the copper phone line.

Since I am now on maxis ftth, do I need to terminate it before able to install unifi?

I read in some TM documents we are required to terminate the maxis ftth in high rise building before they are able to install unifi. Is it true? Anyone migrating from maxis ftth to unifi before in high rise building?

This is what I'm trying to say earlier.

Do we need to terminate Streamyx before Unifi able to activate on the same copper phone line.  sweat.gif
*
In my case, from streamyx to maxis ftth, no need to terminate, unifi i am not sure.

But once maxis ftth is up, you no longer has access to streamyx even though your account is active. Not sure for landed property, because mine is high rise building and understandable since there is only one copper phone line available.

Landed property share the same fiber cable from outside pole of TM to landed house. UniFi share their backbone to Maxis / Future ISP.

You are active in both unifi and maxis ftth forum. Are you subscriber to both services?

vip5/10/20 is using symmetrical technology 100% batter

Never know about this until reading this post.

Done a research and got this very disturbing statement:-
"Asymmetrical connections also have the disadvantage of being contended, meaning that your Internet performance is directly linked to the usage levels within your local area."

Yeak! Sounds like if your area many people doing downloading 24/7, then your internet performance will suffer.

Is this a case of siapa cepat dia dapat?

Is this the reason some people having the same issue, some solved, some unsolved? Some slow, some fast? If this is the case, I do not think it is acceptable!

Your advance 30/50 internet performance depend on other unifi users usage, sucks!

May I know when your unifi connection is down, how long before the TM technician come to solve the issue?

24 hours? 48 hours? Or more than 48 hours?

Currently using maxis ftth and want to switch to unifi, hope for a much better response time for onsite visit.

17 days. My neighbour. Turned out to be a problem with the fibre from the tiang to the house. About 2 months ago.

Myself, so far haven't had to call yet. Fingers crossed.
*

My guess is when you said 17 days, it is until the issue solved.

The TM technician came much earlier, right?

Maybe landed property problem hard to solve, highrise I do not think so, pretty straight forward in my case.

Today all the routing tables changed for the worst on US bound connections, now being routed through Europe (France) and across the Atlantic on double the amount of hops, ping has gone from ~230ms to 340ms and now have packet loss all over the place. Was fine for 3 weeks after last round of shitty connection late Oct/early Nov.

Getting really tired of it, just want it to stay stable for more than a few F'n weeks.

Is it getting better?

My website reside in US and I need to upload file to US almost everyday. Somemore I need to access US website daily as well.

Is your unifi on VIP or ADVANCE Plan?

I have phobia when it comes to TM because I have been hit before with streamyx, where I am not able to access some US websites, including my website(so not able to upload file as well). This problem can never be solved even after the technician from TM HQ came over my place. Ironically, when I take the same pc to my friend place, using his streamyx internet connection, no problem at all. So this is proof it is not my pc issue. Even when I tested Internet cafe in my area, I am able access the US website. That is how weird at times with TM, unsolved mystery.

I know this may asked somewhere, can i subscribe to the new Unifi without HyppTV since i dont have any TV or any people watching ???
*
Yup, that is the problem with unifi, forcing user to take the unwanted HyppTV! Hence the high cost!
Without the HyppTV, the cost is at least rm50 lower!

Why should you pay for something you do not need? Monopoly is the answer.

Yes, you can go for maxis ftth, but you become a step child with bloody fool service. When your internet is down, you need to wait 7 days before someone from TM is available to serve you. Sucks big time!

Do you guys have issues with connection hanging with unifi at high rise?
This month itself i have experienced 3 times and had to call them each time to reset.  Shows connection fine but can't get to any website, etc.
is this common?  When i call the helpdesk they seem to indicate like its normal. Is there something wrong with my router?
I just installed Unifi in Oct 2015

thanks.

The only reason I can think of is that it's a fire hazard.
*
TM Modem? What brand? Huawei?

TM just came last week and change my TM Huawei Modem adapter(spoilt) for my maxis ftth.

If they change to the fire hazard adapter, then I am in big trouble.

Can anyone please show your existing TM Modem adapter image? The old one and the new one(after recent replacement).

Want to identify if the fire hazard adapter is given to me.

The image shown here is the TM Modem adapter given to me last week.

Sounds good, anymore problem for YouTube, etc?

Do you use the router provided or change to a new one?
