Can try to consider Asus RT-AC1200HP.

Retail: RM399, if buy from Lazada can get additional 15% or more discount + RM50 Jusco Voucher (Depend on Seller)

Total cost: Less than RM300 for an AC grade router with 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz - N) + 867 Mbps (5 GHz - AC) ~ 1200 Mbps total connectivity bandwidth.
*
Get the RT-AC55UHP. The price is slightly higher but totally worth it. wink.gif

Does the dual band makes whole lot of difference in term of signal penetration to upstairs?
*
Nope. The signal penetration of 5Ghz is much weaker. smile.gif

Yup all devices cant surf using 2.4ghz. But the signal excellent.

If everything works except your laptop, your laptop wireless chipset is kaput.

No what i mean is i cant surf anything or do testspeed for both my phone and laptop if on 2.4ghz. But on 5ghz, my phone can surf perfectly.
Done it many times result still same. Maybe it time to dig back for the warranty....

Send your router to warranty.

anyone know how to check for port availability for unifi? wanted to subscribe to unifi, Maxis or Unifi fiber better? my location is pandan perdana, perdana villa PV3, Jalan Perdana 2/1, 55300 KL

currently i rented a room, and my house already have maxis fiber, but due to the constant upload data, my game experience has been horrible with the ping fluctuation between 14ms ping to 1000ms ping.

I've been thinking about setting up QoS to improve my condition, but Maxis Fiber router provided does not have QoS function(i know it has it via Telnet configuration), but account and router belongs to landlord. so i think i should avoid screwing up his router.
*
You need a better router if you want QoS. You can replace the Maxis router easily if you don't use the VOIP.

How does this differ from my current router setup?

edit: thanks. i read up about powerline networking, didnt knew such tech exist.

anyway let say:

unifi stock router > powerline A @ level 2

powerline B > router @ level 1

will i get a significance faster in speed?

edit: or should i just buy Tp Link 300MB AV500 Wifi Powerline Extender?
*
The WRT54G is old enough and repeater mode will half the available bandwidth.

Get the the TP-LINK powerline extension kit.

hii guys...i've been using unifi 5mb for 4 years oredi, nowadays speed is very bad and always dc,funny thing is i still using stock router(gateway or what model not sure).

i've been thinking whether to

1. terminate current unifi package and subscribe for new 30mb package
OR
2. upgrade directly from current 5mb

my concern is the stock router,if upgrade i believe they wont replace the router rite? if terminate then apply for new 30mb,then they will install new router?

dont wana waste money by buying new router, plus by applying 30mb then i got better speed,24 month contract is not an issue.
*
The new router is not much better and probably the same.

You definitely need a wireless AC router.

Hi all currently having this router problem:

On Unifi Advance30, using dual band router TP-Link TL-WDR4300.
My 2.4ghz totally cant be used. Cant even load google although getting excellent signal. Tried on several devices already.
Ethernet speed getting 30mbps for dl. So the speed is there and spot on.
5ghz frequency also great. Getting full 30mbps on wifi when doing testspeed.

So if you were me, would u:

Send for repair and claim warranty? But end up maybe a 2-4 weeks without internet because waiting for repair and also the fact that im from melaka.

Or just buy dual band wireless usb, just use the 5ghz and live on with it?

Done some googling and found out there are actually many having problem whereby their 2.4ghz slower than 5ghz. Tried switch to different channels also with no results.
*
Download WiFi Analyzer on your Android device and use the app to search for the least congested channel.

Try channel 1, 6 and 11 first.

Tried change to 20mhz
Installed wifi analyzer and changed channels to 1,6,11
Tried disabling NAT
Updated firmware

Results still same. 2.4ghz totally lost. But,
What I see that my smart tv can use 2.4ghz perfectly for example youtubing. Very confusing. What does this mean?

Been lurking deeper and found tplink forum and apparently so many TL-WDR4300 owners having this problem and they suspected it a hardware issues. All symptoms same like me. Early 2-3 months everythings fine until one day the 2.4ghz band decided to collapse.

Also I read few post up mentioned about powerline. What is it do actually? We plug lan cable at one end and plug another one straight to my laptop?
*
I guess you should send your router to RMA. Looks like an obvious hardware fault to me.

Placebo effect is real here.

The network is still the same. laugh.gif

I see a lot of users are unable to achieve full 30Mbps on wireless unlike they can achieve full 10Mbps previously. You can blame the TM router for that. smile.gif

I did a testing and unplugged my Xiaomi nano router, 100% on TM router. Achieved the same speed as my Xiaomi router. laugh.gif
The only thing is it is not that strong when I was about 25m away. laugh.gif So I switched back. laugh.gif

I can't even get 30Mbps on wireless, using Asus RT-N12HP.

Initially only managed to get 18Mbps at best, but after tweaking by changing the 2.4GHz channel to a less congested one, it improves to 23Mbps at best!

Nothing wrong with TM UniFi in this case, but since I stay in a high-rise and wireless access points from neighbors are transmitting in all directions, there is nothing much I could do to further improve the wireless.

I have resorted to use cable (when it's possible to connect directly) or otherwise using HomePlug. In both cases, 30Mbps can be achieved!
*
2.4Ghz is really congested on most high rise. Always get a dual band router if possible. They are getting cheaper nowadays.

I plan to subscribe Unifi as redundancy.

Is it possible to pull another Fibre or it will just share the current ONU provided by TM.

A simple diagnostic for those facing wireless issue.
agy4699
  1. Connect your computer to your router via a wired Ethernet connection to isolate the issue to wireless. Conduct a speedtest and make sure you are able to achieve a decent speed.
  2. Stand beside your wireless router. The throughput (speed) of wireless deteriorates as distance get further. If you manage to achieve the full speed when you are beside your router but not when you are further away, you probably need a stronger wireless router or a repeater.
  3. If you stay at a location with a lot of wireless routers (apartment and condo), the congestion and interference on the 2.4Ghz band deteriorate the performance. Try configuring your wireless router to a least congested channel. You can use the Wifi Analyzer app on your Android device to determine the best channel.
  4. You tried everything above and you are still unable to achieve 30Mbps on Wireless. You probably need a new wireless router. Get a dual band wireless router, they are getting cheaper. If budget allows, get a Wireless AC router.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Dec 5 2015, 04:25 PM)
What you encountered was buffer bloat. It's the downside of asynchronous connnection.

If you max out either download or upload, the other throughput will be affected. Think of your connection as utilizing one steel pipe with 2 smaller rubber pipes inside. If one of the rubber pipe bloats, the other will be bottlenecked.

How to remedy this? Well, technically you can't.
But you can mitigate the issue by using QoS, set a custom parameter on your router so that your upload does not hit maximum speed when you are using any of your downlink bandwidth. So for your case, if you turn on YT and start to stream a vid, your router should automatically place a cap on your upload speed.
*
SQM on OpenWRT is able to fix that. It is much more effective than conventional QoS.

Oh yeah another side question. Any recommendation of a replacement Router for Unifi? Need to be able to support HyppTv. DD-WRT would be a nice bonus.

One cannot recommend a router without a budget. tongue.gif

If you need DD-WRT, the 1043ND is a good choice.

Long list here. http://www.blacktubi.com/unifi/unifi-repla...nt-router-list/

Hi Guys, I just found out that there's an Android TV Box for Hypp TV via this thread. Any ideas on how to apply to change from the current box to android tv box?

Btw, I am on 30Mbps advance plan paying RM199 monthly (excl. GST) but then now they offering the same package for RM179. Can I appeal to TM to switch to the RM179 plan? Just wondering.

New customers get the new Android based HyppTV.

Don't expect too much from it, the system is locked down and you can't do much. tongue.gif

Just got a Xiaomi MiWiFi Mini. I am able to configure PPPOE directly on that router by using another router as a VLAN bridge.

No double NAT. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(simpleguy @ Dec 10 2015, 06:32 PM)
Guys,
I installed Unifi 30m in my apartment. The LAN speed averages 35mb however the wifi speed is only going up to 24mb max(2meter away from router). So i read that using Xiaomi Mini Router as AP solves this wifi speed problem.

Now, I have this Xiaomi Mini Router with me but I have no idea on how to setup(Sorry that im so noob, tried google but everything suggested contradicts one another). Can someone be kind enough to guide me through this.

Would really appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
*
Configure it using the App. There are 3 modes on this router, the proper way is to use it as an AP to avoid double NAT.

For the easiest configuration, plug it to your TM router and select primary base station. The app will sort out all the configurations for you. biggrin.gif
