Just installed unifi 30mbps at home this noon
Still not getting 30mbps speed, speedtest hovers around 17-20mbps
Downloading direct links still mostly getting 8-11 mbps

On LAN, I'm getting full speed easily
Looks like wifi network/dlink modem is to be blame here, getting full bar yet speed's not stable

Also, do you really have to use wired cable connection for hypptv?
Wifi should be sufficient right?

Instead of providing shitty router to use, TM should subsidize router let's say RM200 for Unifi Advance customers.

Can we request from tm to change the router?

Probably gonna get similar model with 2 years contract renewed.

I still have tp link router that can be setup as a repeater
Anything else I need to configure to use it with hypptv?

if you want to set it up for a repeater, you must either sacrifice HyppTV or Internet.
*
So hypptv is only compatible with tm routers only?
Or need to find those routers that's compatible with hypptv?
Would any router with ddwrt/openwrt still work?

Because Hypptv must be plugged directly to the router for VLAN Taggingor else you will have to connect to a switch then connect the switch to BTU. No matter how you try to set it up, you will still have to plug it into VLAN supported router or switch. It doesn't just work magically without VLAN tagging. You can't just simply connect to repeater.
If I was you, I will pull a cable from the port that HyppTV supposed to plug in to wherever my TV are as long as it's within 100m.

Technician came yesterday and tried changing the wireless settings/replace the router but the wifi reception is really bad even at only 10 meters away . No wonder you guys are really mad about the default router they provide sweat.gif
Any recommendation for unifi supported router with range up to 10-15 meters?

I'm using tl-wr1043nd right now. The router is at 1st level. Can access the wifi from ground floor which is more than 10m without any problem. Further more its cheap compared to other brands.
*
Did you flash ddwrt/openwrt on that model?
Or just use the stock firmware that comes with it

I flashed with openwrt (version Chaos Calmer 15.05).
*
I take it does perform better with openwrt?
Mind sharing your configuration with unifi?

Which part of configuration that you would like to know? What is your router version? Version 1 or 2.

I'm planning to get version 2
I've tried ddwrt/gargoyle but I've never tested openwrt yet

Since when you got it? I only tried mine on Monday because I came back on that day and it's already 10Mbps upload speed. biggrin.gif
I'm also one of the early adopters and made complaint after they launched it officially on 15.10. Then got it after SKMM interference, I had to walk in to the nearest TM Point. Managed to reduce to RM 179 before GST now, with Aneka package.

Now I don't think you will need to complain, can straight walk in to the nearest TM Point. Thanks to us who made a lot of noises to SKMM. tongue.gif
PJ area. biggrin.gif

I'm using TM stuff and connect to Xiaomi Nano Router as access point. I don't think it matters a lot because even I unplugged Xiaomi router, I still can get full speed. The reason why I use this Xiaomi router is because the WiFi signal is stronger when I'm in kitchen and toilet. laugh.gif
*
Mind sharing how you configure your xiaomi router to connect with the modem?
Were you able to use hypptv as well?
Almost forgot I still own this one.

I don't know leh. laugh.gif
Wait till next bill. biggrin.gif
Hmm. Mine is an access point.
Nope, I don't use HyppTV.
*
QUOTE(wcypierre @ Nov 27 2015, 02:35 PM)
Run as Access Point (AP).

Router <-> AP via lan cable.

so the AP will handle the wifi part and router only routing part(in theory will have better performance but if your router is decent enough it doesn't matter much  laugh.gif )
*
So basically it should be setup like this?
I still wanna be able to use the hypptv (at least for the first month)

TM modem -> TM router -> Xiaomi Router/Hypptv

yeap. connect your hypptv and xiaomi router to your tm router. don't connect to the wrong port though, I remember that there's a specific port to be used for hypptv and usually for internet too.
*
Okay, gonna test it out once I'm home
Haven't use the router in a while actually
Is there an English ui with the latest update?

Only for new users, first month only.
Before the update still got English selection, now it seems only Chinese. laugh.gif
Luckily my China colleagues train me well, I can understand well these days. laugh.gif

I love my router, it is the latest nano version which is not sold anywhere else besides China. biggrin.gif
Super small and light.
*
How exactly is your unifi setup with the xiaomi router
Is it...

1) TM modem --> TM router --> Xiaomi wifi router

or

2) TM modem --> Xiaomi wifi router

May I know your step by step configuration with the nano router?]
Cause mine's still in chinese, haven't updated it since last year

ONU > TM Router > Xiaomi Router

Don't change anything for ONU to TM router.

I previously was using TP Link MR-3420 then replaced it to Xiaomi. Nothing else changes. Just replaced my TP Link with Xiaomi. sweat.gif So, in a way I didn't go through the configuration using Xiaomi page. sweat.gif

So sorry. notworthy.gif

Thanks, the gui makes it easy to setup xiaomi router.
It was pretty straightforward and not as complicated as other routers biggrin.gif

Hye guys, got my 30M up and running in my apartment last Friday. Speed via LAN Cable hits 35M and consistently stays above 30M. However, the Wifi speed is just terrible. Placed my Laptop just beside the router and can hardly get anything pass 22M and in the rooms can hardly get beyond 12M. My Router is in the hall.

So Im looking for some cheap solution for the slow Wifi Speed. Right now im looking at this Xiaomi Mi MiniRouter. Is it any good?Anyone using it? Im just looking for a stable router which can provide good wifi speed.

Owh this is the setup im thinking of.

TM Modem -> TM Router -> Xiaomi Router

Hope to get some feedback on this.

Like @fruitie said, it's wifi coverage miles better than Unifi default router.
Just checked and mine's actually the mini model, if you also plan to stream huge files that ac router is the way to go
You can even get them cheaper at taobao

if you are on asus it's much more simpler. I setup my router via command line interface.

Should I just follow the guide from here for the settings to get iptv working as well?

Just received my 2nd month bill of unifi and apparently I'm charged with rm198 (rm210 with gst) instead of rm179.

Ok, i just called them and apparently they said it's normal billing rate for the 1st/2nd month with hypptv. Then it goes back to rm179 for 30mbps, anyone can comfirm this?
