i'm using Asus AC68U loaded with RT-Merlin, can easily setup to use for Unifi because it default supports the local ISP special configuration, so easy to setup.

tested for 30mbps over wireless no problem :}

any have recommendation for sock5 proxy for torrent to use with unifi doh.gif ?

also is dnscrypt needed for unifi or not?

my router can install it on rt merlin, but i'd have to use putty to install entware to install dnscrypt >_>; or install shibby tomato which i rather not do.

30mbps dl /10mbps ul (got upgraded from 5mbps which was a nice surprise, cause 5mbps wasn't cutting it for my for my obs streaming). I'm using an Asus RT-AC68U AC1900 class router loaded with RT-Merlin's third party firmware (NEVER USE THE DEFAULT UNIFI ROUTER!!! it's totaly POS rolleyes.gif )

Also using a F95B usb fan, since we are in the tropics the router can get damn hot

got temps tamed down from 80+ to a more reasonable 60c for 24/7 operation

local speed (hard to complain about this other than the price)

singapore speed (i was expecting around 20ms... but guess this is okay, even for counter strike fps)

US speed (LA CA WebNext - US West. International speed is most important since most of the content is located here, outside that which is cache on akamai/google servers locally. so this result has to be good or you'll be relying overly much on local peers on torrent....)

germany speed ( frankfurt leaseweb)

PIA (private internet access VPN)
using one of the US servers i got around 10mbps download. which is basically a third of my dl subscribed speed. But considering we may have signed TPPA, this may be unavoidable sad.gif Maybe using paid proxy for torrent can achieve better speeds while achieving some anonymity.

anyway regarding speedtest, some server is slow (got like 10-15mbps dl), but considering this other server in US west can get this result, i'll accept it as the official result.

unifi has come a long way, even the latency has reduced from 200, to even lower. I'm using ipv6 maybe that helped?

just hope the pricing becomes more reasonable, now we got gst >_>;

PS: on side note, this router can max out on 30mbps internet speed over wifi 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I don't have 50mbps package so i obviously can't push the limit to test for that sad.gif

Can you try doing speedtest to any germany server?
*
updated the post above. the speed considering the distance is pretty good. normally our european destination speed kinda sux, but it's much better than before.

even latency is now 200ms, which is what we use to get to the US previously. Before use to be somewhere around 300-500ms.

Well my mystery not solve yet lol.

After upgrade my router to tplink wdr4300, a dual band router, everything is great. Then come my smart tv. After connect my tv with 2.4ghz, it look like only my tv can use the 2.4ghz band. All devices such as smartphones, laptops cant use it. They can connect to the 2.4ghz but nothing happen. Cant surf anything. It like my smart tv become really smart it block other device from using it. Anyone know any troubleshoot i can do? Or anything so that 2.4ghz accessible to all?

My tv is samsung btw..

samsung 2016 hdtvs just got smarter and more secure. maybe consider upgrade? hmm.gif

“Protecting consumers’ personal information is of the utmost importance to Samsung, both in terms of the company’s values and what’s needed for the continued growth and success of the IoT ecosystem,” said Hyun Suk Kim, Samsung’s president of visual display business, said in a statement. “GAIA is a security solution that will give Samsung customers security and peace of mind now and in the future.”

GAIA uses multiple approaches in to enhance security. First, Samsung’s Tizen OS will be divided into two parts – the main space and the security space – with data for each space being secured separately. Transmissions between the TV and IoT (Internet of Things) servers is encrypted, making it both harder to intercept and more difficult to spoof.

Finally, GAIA introduces something called SecureZone. Samsung describes this as “a virtual barrier that creates a secure space and protects the core service operations.” As part of this, a secure keypad/number pad displayed on screen is used to help protect users’ passwords, credit card details, and other personal information.

As smart TVs have developed a reputation for being easy to hack, this is something we’d like to see other TV manufacturers pursuing in the future. Whether or not consumers will trust GAIA after the accusations earlier this year that Samsung was spying on users through its TVs, however, is still up in the air.

RM 169 is just Internet. Mine too RM 169 but with RM 20 discount. So it is RM 149 and add HyppTV - Aneka: RM 30. Then total is RM 179.

You cannot take a standalone Internet package, must take with HyppTV.

Tying (informally, product tying) is the practice of selling one product or service as a mandatory addition to the purchase of a different product or service. In legal terms, a tying sale makes the sale of one good (the tying good) to the de facto customer (or de jure customer) conditional on the purchase of a second distinctive good (the tied good). Tying is often illegal when the products are not naturally related. It is related to but distinct from freebie marketing, a common (and legal) method of giving away (or selling at a substantial discount) one item to ensure a continual flow of sales of another related item.

this is why they can provide a sub par service and charge us for it and get away with it. otherwise they'd be serious and add better content.

sure we got iflix now, but thats an additional service ONTOP of .... so....
rolleyes.gif

i think the astro + broadband bundle is fairer, since it's optional.

Most of us don't watch it and people like me who don't install the HyppTV or even the cordless phone. laugh.gif

i do think iptv is the way forward from satelite. netflix kinda proved that. but i want to pay when the content warrants it. i wonder if they will get around to fixing that hmm.gif or at the very least debundle, now that there is iflix for it supposedly.

even  new adv50 unifi users wont get maximum speed(wifi) if using TM stock router. direct connection thru lan only will help u getting maximum speed. i already change my router to a better one and the result ive got maximum speed with wifi connection.

i use my own ac68U for 30mbps. any reason i need new btu ? or no difference hmm.gif

No difference. Even my old HG850a BTU is capable of 2.4/1.2 gbps. The only thing that may make a difference is the Ethernet port. The old ones are 100mbit only while the new BTU are gigabit. Then again UniFi is only 50 for now.
*
ah i see.

yeah doubt gigabite for wan matters for current speed.

as for lan, all my devices is connected to each other via router which has 1gigabit, so not going to matter really smile.gif

i just wondered because i've been experiencing drop connections playing heroes of the storm to the US server. so wondering is this either due to the old btu or maybe other internet users from region affected as well.

same shit happened to me playing hearthstone.

Absolutely zero difference, speed wise. In fact I'd rather steer clear of the newer BTUs for reliability sake as the components in them are actually cheaper made than the original Alcatel BTUs.

wow that sux sad.gif
