Hi all,

I am very new to this Unifi "technology". sweat.gif

Just signed up to migrate from Streamyx 8Mbps package to Unifi Advance Plan.

I got few questions wish someone can help:
  • The people said my Streamyx will be unsubscribed for Unifi to get activate, but I forgot to ask how many days I will be left with no Internet before the new one get installed? (As this is school holiday, no Internet will be like end of the world for the children laugh.gif )
  • Currently using Linksys E4200 router with DD-WRT firmware, can I use this with Unifi?
  • I read somewhere (such as this guide) showing HyppTV setup using LAN cable? I thought HyppTV using wireless like what my current setup that came with Streamyx 8M package.
  • Like what was described in this post, does setting up VLAN is a must for Unifi?

Many thanks in advanced. notworthy.gif

Be careful with that statement.. Just a few weeks ago, my friend had to make many calls for every week, just to follow up or push tm on why he got both unifi and streamyx bill at the same time. He was like you, believing the contractor that his streamy will automatically terminated. In fact, he's not the only person who had faced this problem, if you search on google on even in this forum itself, there're too many person having the same problem..  (got two bills because streamyx wasn't terminated automatically eventhough that's what he/she was told)

Once you receive the bill, it is not easy to 'unbill' yourself..

Wow...! Wow...! blink.gif
Thank you for your warning, luckily you tell me this... sweat.gif
Looks like I will have to call or visit TM to check on my Streamyx account status once I got Unifi up and running. biggrin.gif

in my case, i told them not to cancel streamyx; i waited 2 days after unifi install and all is ok, then go kedai TM to cancel streamyx, safer that way

Good idea, I don't know if I can do this in my case as I stay in condo, and I assume I will have to use that single copper phone line for either Unifi or Streamyx? Anyway, I will try to call the guy I signed up with him to check this out.

Many thanks! icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, that is the best way to do it.

I keep my streamyx for weeks after installing maxis ftth, until everything is working fine then only I cancel my streamyx, better safe than sorry!

As you mentioned above, you stay in high rise building, so do I...
Is your Unifi running to your unit on the same copper phone line or a separate cable?

yup true, dont rely on the unifi form that we submit, its happen to me...i tot tm will terminate once unifi installed. i called 100 after one week unifi installation and i found out the streamyx line was still  active. they advice me to go at the nearest tm point to cancel it manually. its faster that way. they terminate the line right away.

Good advise, thank you and I really appreciates it. thumbup.gif

I don't have the guy's contact number right now, will call him tonight and tell him let me terminate Streamyx at TM Point by myself. smile.gif

Since I am now on maxis ftth, do I need to terminate it before able to install unifi?

I read in some TM documents we are required to terminate the maxis ftth in high rise building before they are able to install unifi. Is it true? Anyone migrating from maxis ftth to unifi before in high rise building?
*
This is what I'm trying to say earlier.

Do we need to terminate Streamyx before Unifi able to activate on the same copper phone line. sweat.gif

in our case, mostly tm sales people want us to terminate and register new line because they will get commission for new application....that was what installer guy told me. they said mine should only upgrade from streamyx rather than new  application. if the installer guy lie, meaning i lied too....hahaha
*
Oh....

I am thinking if I should cancel the application and visit TM Point to request for migrate/upgrade to Unifi instead?

At least you have a choice while I don't. sad.gif
Let me see how to fix my YouTube issue.
*
I am still waiting for my Unifi to install, and currently still with Streamyx 8Mbps.
Me too, occasionally have certain YouTube video not loading at all, no matter how many refresh... even changed to 144p and it just won't load... mad.gif

I am using Firefox as my primary browser, whenever some video not loading, I copy the URL and paste it into Google Chrome or IE and the video play... doh.gif

Maybe mine was different case, but just to share my experience so that others can try their luck. smile.gif

Hi all,

There were a few agents put up their banner and table (stated Unifi is here) outside our apartment's guardhouse, and one next to guardhouse (inside the apartment compound) and even one in the elevator lobby area. So I signed up ADV30 on 10th December. Until now, I haven't receive a single call from the agent or from TM. I called the agent but he did not answer the phone.

Today I walked into TM Point, let them help check my application status, but the lady can't see a single trace about my application. Then she checked her computer for Unifi coverage and she didn't see my apartment's building name, but I doubt if their list of coverage are up to date? She also called the agent but he didn't answer phone call.

Then she suggest me to fill up a new application form and she would submit for me and will let me know for any update. At least she's far more helpful than the agent that I signed up with. rclxms.gif

What I wish to know are:
Is that possible the agents got the first hand news of future coverage here very soon, so they set up a few posts to grab some future customers in advanced even before our building are ready for Unifi? hmm.gif

Anyone here can suggest a better way to deal with this situation?

Many thanks in advanced! notworthy.gif

Based on my previous experience, reseller may get the info faster where the next area to be deploy.

Normally if there is booth set up outside the area, it just means the area is covered or soon to be.

The building may already pre-installed the port and equipment already, just you may not know.
For apartment, they just need to lay fibre to the ground floor, they do not need lay fibre cable to every floor.
*
Oh I see... looks like my only option is to wait till TM call me and I don't even know when... sad.gif
Thank you cherroy ! thumbup.gif

Did you use any ad blocking plugin such as Adblock Plus or something? Maybe temporary disable it and restart your browser then try again?
