QUOTE(Kataro @ Apr 16 2007, 05:36 PM) so mean the price for 650W would be around RM650 lor...wow...that kinda expensive liao... but I know that it is worth for the penny... maybe I will get the Liberty 500W, now quite satisfy with the Liberty 400W, just that it might not enough juice if I am going to upgrade more... need to see where got the cheapest Liberty 500W first... Just get Silverstone Strider 560W. RM320 n KL only. But u from Johore?.. Added on April 17, 2007, 6:00 pmQUOTE(stanley85 @ Apr 17 2007, 10:12 AM) hello...i'm new here.. i plan to get a new pc in either this month or early of may spec: c2d e6600 gigabyte 8800gts 320mb hdd WD 160gb 17" LCD mushkin 1gb 667 ram (x2, total 2gb) 1or 2 dvd rewriter any mobo will suit my processor..possibly gigabyte 945p-s3 or better one i plan to get a igreen cooler master 500w... will it be sufficient for my pc? or do i need to get a 600w or even better ? thanks.. iGreen is good, but its not cheap. QUOTE(Xeon7222 @ Apr 23 2007, 08:29 PM) Erm... I just bought a Acbel 350W for my sister, but I found that one of the 20 pin conector is not connected, I mean there is no wire/cable/those copper thingy for that pin. Is it normal? Can't off my comp n open my casing to check now because downloading some stuft(16 hours remaining, not resumable )... If its not normal to have a pin like that then I need to go back and change asap. Please help. Edited: Sorry if this is kinda off topic here. Mind to snap a pic and show it to us? Thanks

QUOTE(Joseph Hahn @ May 24 2007, 12:40 PM) Hey guys, i'm here to report that Silverstone OP1000 won't fit in Antec P180B. I need to cut that steel there and remove the fan (red oval) to make it fit. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yes, of coz wont fit. OP1000 size is longer than ATX standard. U should check its size b4 buy. But since u need it, u have to mod ur casing.

QUOTE(dattebayo @ May 29 2007, 06:16 PM) can elaborate more? like current/voltage regulation... Maybe u'hv read this b4 pick from PC Power& Cooling. QUOTE DON'T LOSE POWER WITH MODULAR PLUGS Due to their look, convenience, and cost savings for manufacturers, modular plugs have become a popular power supply feature. Unfortunately, there has been little or no discussion of the impact of this feature on overall performance and reliability. The fact is, modular plugs limit power by adding to electrical resistance. The voltage drop can be as much as would occur in 2 feet of standard wire. Worse yet, modular plugs utilize delicate pins that can easily loosen, corrode, and burn, creating the potential for a major system failure. That's why professional system builders specify uninterrupted wire!

QUOTE(afosz @ Jun 11 2007, 01:07 AM) Hi, just want to ask, what makes a PSU is better than the other? I was once said that it is the amp of the PSU makes it is better than the other, is it? If I choose CM iGreen 550W over Silverstone ST56F, is there a wide gap in performance, durability and reliability? And of course, I'm talking about OCing as well, about 25 - 50% of increase in cpu performance hopefully Silverstone have good reputation and come with cheaper price.

Higher Amp on 12v rail, the better of course but also cost more.

QUOTE(X.E.D @ Aug 5 2007, 08:32 AM) Definitely not enough for a 2900XT (165Watts at load) I'm getting an iGreen 500W. The 12V rails are a little funny. Any advice on how to distribute 12v? IIRC iGreen's each 12v rail only have 16.5A only, although its quite stable. But recommend u to go for Enermax FMA II or Strider 560W if can.

QUOTE(Hornet @ Nov 26 2008, 12:38 PM) I currently have an Acbel 450W PSU Combined 12v rail output 25 Amps Can that PSU take a 9800GT or 9800GTX+ on my system ? I think the 98 GTX+ pulls about 13-14 amps, but I'm not sure how much amps the other components use on the 12v rail.. and also how good this Acbel PSU is, though it does weight heavy and cost my RM300 plus when I bought it some time ago. Thank you Its easy, you can calculate the power consume by your h/w and then look for a PSU that have a sufficient 12V rail output for you. I have update the calculation on 1st page C2D E6550 Intel G33 mainboard 2x 1GB DDR2 RAM 2 hard disk, 2 fan 9800GT or 9800GTX+ Your current PSU 12V output is 300W, if your setup need more than that, then you need to change to a higher output PSU. Simple as that http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jspThis post has been edited by yehlai: Nov 26 2008, 02:17 PM

Forumer here still favor the so call True Powers, actually its just another marketing gimmick from the PSU manufacturer to cliam their PSU have the 'True power thingy'. All we need is just calculate the output of the PSU, if output is same with what they claim/advertise and have 80% efficiency then its a good PSU.
Bad PSU: - claim have 500W output, but real output is only 350W. - low efficiency. - low 12v rail output (put more out put on 5v and 3 v rails to fool users).

QUOTE(jonthebird @ May 6 2009, 08:30 AM) 1. Real power : just a model name lah, not really is "REAL" power, mainly on those 400 -500W, its not TRUE POWER at all. If you check those foreign megazine/ IT website, some even not mentioned / critic these range as low end and power efficiency as 60-70%. ie: 450W, actually power is notly 377W+.... Efficiency means, how many percent of power comsume (input) in order to produce the output power. e.g if your system need 400W to run, a 80% efficiency PSU will consume 500W of power. 500W x 80% = 400W if you have a 50% effiency PSU, then you will consume 800W in order to supply 400W for your system. the higher efficiency PSU you have, the less electricity bill you will pay. QUOTE(don^don @ Aug 18 2009, 12:57 PM) no i'm in malaysia. I've seen the ST75EF, and its not modular. its silent, and according to some ppl its very reliable. moreover its under rm500. but i still prefer a modular model, and the Silverstone Decalthon is more expensive that Corsair's HX series. Why need a modular PSU, Silverstone with single 12v rail is good enough. This post has been edited by yehlai: Aug 18 2009, 08:50 PM
