Actually, 4mm and 5mm works fine. Trimming the cotton on juice channel part isn't hard. Just take out the coil head and press the cotton to the juice channel. You will know where to cut. Don't cut it to just enough. It still leaks for being greedy. lol

The thickness of the cotton acts as additional reservoir.
*
hehe last weekend I was getting dry hits on a 4mm coil with wick pressed into the juice channel. Tried with lesser and lesser amounts of cotton in channel till it worked properly...for a while, then dry hits came back. Went back to 3mm coil on the same juice and no dry hit prob. That's why I thought that maybe the wick from coil to deck was too thick, and it's not just trimming (which by itself is easy), but it needs to be cut like a layered hairstyle. The law of diminishing returns does apply vis-a-vis coil size.

And speaking of trimming, I cut off the lip of the juice port (the one on the flat side, not the ridged side) till it was flush with the silicone gasket. Not in an effort to stem a leak, but because each time I opened the cap, the silicone would distort and pull away from the wall of the topcap. Works fine now with smoother opening action.

As an ex Salem smoker, I used Hangsen Menthol Sensation.  This flavor enabled me to give up smoking from day 1.  Nevah missed the taste of Salem (now renamed Melvius to current smokers).  Very hard to find but available in VapeBrothers, Aman Suria.

But be warned - bloody cold, not suitable for those non-menthol smokers.

Mild 7 was rebranded as Mevius.

hello sifu , diy e liquid no have nic 0mg , no need to steep right ?
*
U still need to steep. 50-50 and 60-40 (VG/PG percentage) juices need at least a week for me. U can try tasting after 3 days, but better flavor comes with patience. For 80-20 mixes, I let them be for 2-3 weeks, shaking and breathing once a day.

Aside: Anyone noticed a steady degradation of poslaju's service? Gonna be the 4th or 5th time this month I have to go to the paste orfice to extricate my parcel. It's just sitting there, being ignored with no attempt at delivery. I want my flavors, dammit!

Know any local seller?
*
Sorry I don't know of local sellers for that part.

If u don't mind an opinion from a fellow TFV4 user, just get another 510 drip tip from any vape shop. Unless you really want a cooler vape at higher wattage, the air flow control (AFC) of that drip tip is not very useful, with one exception: I find that on certain light fruity juices, leaving the AFC open just a hair can produce random "sparkles" of more concentrated flavor and sweetness. The effect is mainly felt on the tip and front part of my tongue (where most of the sweet receptors are located). I find that to be a nice change, but as I'm mostly on heavier flavors, that feature is unused most of the time.

Ehh.. Not really impressed with the Crius tbh. Tried out my buddies just now and it's kinda on par with my Bellus. Not really a scientific comparison, I know. Too much variable to be accounted for but I'll hold on to my wallet until there's a better review on it
*
Aaah..u have me at a disadvantage sir...I've yet to try out the Crius. If it's merely on par with the Bellus, I'll get it for sure when the velocity deck version appears here. That new deck must have been what Richard Ng was hinting at thumbup.gif

Yeah I know what u mean. Truth be told, it does look better on a larger mod, and sits fine on my larger vape machines.

But when I want a lighter load, it goes on my evic mini which goes into my pants pocket...sometimes causing ppl to stare wink.gif

Thx for the info.
I kind of like the cooler feeling when using this drip tip. I m very new to this vape stuff. What is 510 drip tip and what is the different between this and normal drip tip?
*
Lets have a bit of history first. In 2008, Joyetech made the Joye 510 e-cigarette. It became so popular that "510" became common reference to the cartridges that'd fit.

Today we have drip-tips, mods, drippers and tanks with "510 threading", meaning that they fit that particular kind of screw thread/aperture wich the Joye 510 has. "510" drip tips do not have screw threads, and are held in place by friction with the help of o-rings.

So if you buy any vaping device or accessory (eg drip tips), which conforms to the 510 size, you are assured that they will fit. The TFV4 drip tip, and the corresponding hole in the tank's top cap are "510" sized. And for the time being, if you like the coolness that the AFC of that drip tip gives, you'll have to get a replacement one from fasttech cos I dunno anyone locally selling it.

Anyone with a velocity rda mind sharing their build for flavor? Can't seems to get it right on mine.
*
Flavor...very subjective, but I'll share my experience on a tobeco clone.

I've tried kanthal and nichrome builds of various sizes...meh @ flavor. It improved a bit more with 3mm Ti spaced coils 8 wraps, the cyclops open about 1mm, the "eyes" shut, using on a 510 drip tip. Haven't messed with claptons yet...lazy to make some...maybe this weekend or the next.

The simple fact of the matter is that the Velocity is a tall and airy dripper more suited to chucking. If u want flavor go for a low profile RDA.

funny story about 510, happens in 2013.. that time hammond box was popular.

so i go lepak at this vape shop at putra perdana. i kamceng with the shop's staff so can lepak there all day long.

one day a customer walks in. looks in hurry. he ask the staff about "faiten" while looking at his phone. the staff blur2 coz never heard about this "faiten" thing. the customer then shows an SMS on his phone. the SMS there written "tlg carikan aku faiten kat area equine".. laugh.gif

after few moment then we all realized that he's actually looking for 510 connector..

hahaha all confused because he says "faiten" too fast and repeatedly laugh.gif laugh.gif
*
lol! I've heard "faiten" a few times b4 too. Also heard "soobom" (sub-ohm) and "kental" biggrin.gif

You mentioning the hammond when I was just pondering it is a bit of a coincidence. I have some very nicely seasoned hardwoods of local varities, and canadian rock maple (salvaged from a bowling alley). Was thinking of making myself a mod, and wondering if I should go unregulated or buy a DNA chip.

I saw Smok's's Treebox made of zebra wood in a vape shop, played with it a bit (very light mod, quality construction) and thought to myself: hey! I can do better. Had an image of red merbau main panels, with the lighter colored rock maple going all around top, bottom and sides. Been doing the costing of the components, woodstains, clear coating etc and with time and effort tossed in, it'd cost way more than a new ready-made evic mini. But if I were to get off my lazy butt and do it, it'd be a labor of love. Ahh decisions, decisions. Time to load up a dripper and have a hot cuppa.

Thanks for the link! The price is very good compared to the USD60 plus shipping for an Evolv DNA40. I'll look further into the modules offered by FT.

My FT package arrived at MPC PMIH (KLIA) on the 7th, 5 days after buying...and it still sitting there today. Sighhh. Anyways, nothing important in it...just trivial items. Sabarlah andy...sabarrr.

How about sharing a photo of yr FT goodies to help ease our minds? smile.gif

Feel like the general consensus of vaper here is that: if you are non smoker and want to try  vaping, go and smoke analogs first then come back to mods tanks and  juices.

Most times they will come out with "why start an addiction?" argument, which is mind boggling. It's like asking someone who dont like the taste of coffee not to drink soda and energy drinks for the caffeine.

Discuss.

Ex smoker here, I started vaping is not because I wanna quit smoking, is curious about mods, builts and stuff if additional if it really can help quit smoking. Why not.

More hooked towards it as hobby, modding, building atomizers, having to experiment.

So I really don't care if they non smoker or smoker. More like to discuss the hobby rather than does it really helps, juice brewing, flavours etc

this addiction problem is what we called "shopaholic"
it's worse than cancer or drugs
hahahahaha.....
*
nod.gif ya! shopaholism is very persistent and draining. And they keep coming out with nice new shiny toys to tempt us.

There's one more thing which I term "cotton anxiety". I've read of many ppl wondering if Muji is organic, so I surfed to mujionline's eu and jp websites. Put the jp website thru google translate. Both sites made no mention of the cut cotton being organic, just unbleached.

Random thought inspired by mentions of Scottish roll wicking in the thread today:
Back in more primitive times, I'd boil cotton balls and dry them b4 using them as wicks. Once I tried to put the cotton balls in the washing machine to spin dry. Bad idea. They came out very flat and matted biggrin.gif After they dried fully, I didn't want to waste the cotton, so I pulled them thin and rolled them up. Had I made a youtube vid and it became popular, the scottish roll would probably not exist today, and instead be known as "The Spin-Dry roll" tongue.gif tongue.gif
