Jaya Grocer Mutiara Tropicana still eligible for Amex TnG. Not bad. Just 50 cents. Tot they would cancel it already.

Also if dowan cucuk card scared kena covid, find the counters with the white credit card device coz those can pay wave Amex. If use Cimb terminal then kena cucuk card key pin.

1) Oh, I think that you are referring to Hong Leong Credit Card Terminals, in Jaya Grocer. These credit card terminals have the shape similar to smartphones.

It is nice knowing that Hong Leong Credit Card Terminals in Jaya Grocer can process Amex contactless transactions.


2) How much was your Touch n' Go reload amount? Below or above RM 250.00?

I am wondering whether Hong Leong Credit Card Terminals in Jaya Grocer can accept Amex contactless transactions above RM 250.00 or not (we tap our Amex credit card and then key in our PIN).

TNGo topup max RM200/transaction. U can opt to pay together with ur groceries or separately.

For example, I want reload RM 400 to my Touch n' Go Card.


For that, Jaya Grocer cashier will reload RM 199.50 in two separate transactions to my Touch n' Go Card. So, the balance of my Touch n' Go Card will be increased by RM 399.00.


However, after that, Jaya Grocer cashier will charge RM 400 to my credit card, in a single transaction.


The reason that I am asking about the credit card payment amount above RM 250.00 is that I know whether Hong Leong Credit Card Terminals can accept Amex contactless transactions above RM 250.00.


Other credit card terminals that accept Visa and MasterCard payment cards only will decline contactless transactions above RM 250.00, while other credit card terminals accept contactless transactions above RM 250.00, provided that PIN is pressed on the terminals.

To me it doesnt matter because Amex (im assuming MBB 2 Card) gives cashback regardless Wave or insert card.
U can give it a try and let us know the result whether allow Wave + PIN or not.

No they wont force to charge ur card in a single transaction.
If u insists, u can pay separately RM200 + RM200 the cashier have to entertain u.

FYI i've done that before, topup RM200 make payment using my own Amex, topup RM200 again make payment using my spouse Amex.

Btw who says other card terminals will decline contactless above RM250?

Ooh the white one is Hong Leong. Ya like smartphone. Everywhere nowadays. And I topup 100 only. Not much. I usually use it for one trip back to my hometown and I also stay quite near.

I have this before. Above 250, they say kena cucuk, pay wave cannot get through. Those older terminals don't have the wave and pin function. Only newer ones have wave and pin. Older ones wave above 250 will fail

Haha only difference I can think of, no need to touch terminal. Lol so many ppl touching.

Yes, I agree with you that we can request the cashier to charge our credit cards twice.

If we are using just 1 credit card (instead of 2 credit cards as in your own case), there is no need to split RM 400 into two separate credit card transactions. Just as beebee1314, we want to minimize our exposure time (single credit card transaction instead of two), and the exposure to credit card terminal (via contactless, instead of pin-and-pay).
