I think the point of it is that TNG doesn't have encryption....

TNG is based on mifare classic, which actually does have encryption, but the encryption method has been broken since like 10 years ago. You can easily bruteforce the first encryption key by using tool like mfcuk and then mfoc to get the rest offline. With all the encryption keys on hand, you can then use mct(the android app used by the stupid couple) to manipulate your TNG card as much as you want.

Wonder how they manage to find out about the couple. If one's TnG card isn't registered online, probably no way to locate them unless via CCTV at the point of payment.

why not? the card keeps track of your transactin too. it's just a basic counter/app in the card. when it gets uploaded to TNG system, the transactions doesnt tally at all. if audited/investigated, sure find discrepancies.

obviously tng have been investigating for sometime before taking action geh.

Not sure if I heard it correctly today Morning radio mentioned that there are couple of places reload touch n go without service charge, cause they are currently pushing for cashless toll.

That is why all the places you can use TnG to make payment has CCTV

SPRINT just went live with cashless toll yesterday.

Other advance country like Taiwan already phased out Touch and Go/Smart Tag some 5 years ago.
They are now on eTag , which is a postpaid system, without having to slow down the car at all.

I don't think it works. It is linked between TnG reload and your credit card. Once you reload RM 50, the cashier will tap on the screen, then it will be processed.

Yes, discrepancies can be tracked easily via their system but if one does not register the card online, they will not be able to trace the card's owner. TnG card can be bought easily without having to disclose any information unlike telco simcard.

Hence CCTV.

I believe the system fairly easily exploited though. Not worth their while to upgrade security though, since so much existing system everywhere in toll/shop.

Yea, that's what I mentioned in my first post. Really easy to exploit. Old tech, easily get stolen.
