Getting Started

|
Well i'm thinking of forming an e-magazine team in my current university (aiming the outside market), kind of art magazine like encore and coltea... it's still on the underground-developing progress, so i wonder whether is it considered an illegal activity? if so, what should i register to make it legalized? and would it cause any trouble (like banning etc) if i remain it illegal? ps~ btw not going to put any excessive stuff... e-zine isnt illegal unless you are touching politics through arts. Try to confine your free speech and art expression to an extend and more likely you will be safe.
Conclusion is, e-zine isnt illegal in here yet.

Getting Started

|
well i did consider using pageFlip, but there was once when i was making an e-zine demo for a website (a HK website, which is down already ^^") using pageFlip, i found that it's too ma fan to make it interactive... it's easy if you simply attach a bitmap inside, but it takes a lot of effort to attach a flash page coz everytime you click on the page it would reset... o.O (that means have to declare a loooooot of variables to record the "current appearance")... and another problem is, when i attached the pageFlip swf into Macromedia Director (to make it a nicer exe file), it turns very very very slow... so... finally i gave up using it...
btw i've found a chinese free software called ZineMaker, which is very convenient to make the pageflip effect (and attaching flash pages too!)... 99% of China e-magazines are using it now... just that... the person who compiles the magazine needs to understand mandarin... XD

Khor, nice idea of having an e-magazine. I had one as well but using different approach. I'm not using Flash which almost all e-zine out there are using. Have a look at mine. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Ya, the e-zine from TheEditor looks really simple and fast loading but layout is abit too tight / cramp tho.

QUOTE(onscreen @ Dec 4 2006, 11:32 AM) Ya, the e-zine from TheEditor looks really simple and fast loading but layout is abit too tight / cramp tho. Thanks for the input. Which part is tight / cramp? The content? I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Aye, the content. It lacks of sufficient padding on paragraph and the images. If you are using grid layout, try refine the grid for some space between paragraphs and images / videos. i love your zine, though its not within my interest but the fast loading really keeps me keep clicking

I'll keep your suggestion in mind. What would you like to see in the e-zine onscreen?
Edit: Should I open another thread for this discussion? It seems it is not related to the title of this thread.
