go for u mobile Power prepaid. Free 1GB everymonth for life time. But u need to need your line activate, which mean you need to reload at least RM30 to stay active. On the other hand, they wont charge you any cents from RM30. RM30 is for your calls.

My dad requires data plan. Now he doesn't need it often, so no point paying Rm30 a month, what we're looking for is like those 250MB per month plan or 50-100 MB per week. Has anyone done the math and figured out which telco , MVNO or not, offers the cheapest rate?

Also if its setup on recurring will be a lot easier.

Someone should have pointed you to TuneTalk (Celcom mvno) by now:

1. Weekly plan 100MB for RM 2.00 (auto renew)

2. 1 year validity for RM 28

Read up on Tunetalk's page and go figure out how RM150 is sufficient for 1.5 years of validity & weekly data plan. All this is still valid as of 24/10/2015.

I believe this may be the bottom line that fits your requirement.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm currently testing out both tunetalk and altel, if satisfying then I'll pass one of them to my dad and keep the more expensive one.

Altel doesn't even had license to operate band 3 lte but yet I can connect to band 3 lte network. Technically, Celcom and Altel share all their 4G spectrum. Therefore, in Celcom's 4G network theoretically can achieve a higher speed.

btw, if your usage is more than 100mb/week for tunetalk, you'll be charged ppu 5cent/mb which is kinda dangerous sad.gif

"11. Any data usage after the Data Quota is totally exhausted will be charged at current Pay Per Use rates of 5sen/MB and it is valid."
