Just saw the unbox of MSI GT72 6QE from another thread. It's really attractive to me, but I also cant refuse Alienware 17 R3.

Anyone can give me more info or suggestion about these 2 beasts? Normally I spend lots of time playing FPS game or GTA 5 ( hope to play with full performance) or other heavy games. Which is better choice??

If you know where is having promotion for these 2, it is even better!!

I'd say MSI GT72 6QE is better than Alienware this round.

MSI GT72 have a MXM slot which allow to you to perform future upgrade.

PS : when dell dun put as pre configured spec but as customake options.. it's not comfortable to me...personally hv some bad experience wif a few customake spec..

We ordered not less than 10 units of new Alienware and ETA is 3rd week November 2015.

Btw, all Machine now uses DDR4 and highest spec 6820

base on the info when msi first launch it's first GT72, especially the Gtx970m model is not.

I don't think so. The soldered is the CPU. GT72 always have a soldered CPU.
But GPU is always MXM.

i do know cpu is soldered. For GPU wise the info is base on msi punya lady. maybe MSI can clarify this?

IMHO, when comparing the two your choice should be MSI (and not just because i'm a fanboy..lols)

Both are high end notebooks but the MSI GT72 comes with more gaming features, including better audio, and support for higher end PCI-E SSD's.

One thing to note is which GPU is Alienware using as the MSI GT72 comes with the newer 'desktop graphics' grade GTX980M with 8GB GDDR5 RAM instead of only 4GB on the Alienware.

Nvidia made an announcement about this new GPU and Dell/Alienware wasn't one of the listed brands able to support this.

But it is not the GT72 that mentioned by TS.

Is the New GT72 which haven't release yet.

G sync is new tech from Nvidia to reduce screen tearing.
Last time VSync will limit the FPS to the monitor refresh rate. G sync using another method.
AMD also come out another one called Free sync.

That is a laptop with desktop hardware.

Anything with the gtx980 notebook will cost a bomb for the moment, but for the 30% increment of power over the most powerful single mobile GPU (980m) will give you a very close experience to desktop gaming. The only obvious downside is the weight and the lack of Optimus support for this model...other than that, it is a Beast!
