Hi.. My dad will be warded next week at ijn. He was warded last week at hkl.. The doc at hkl referred my dad to ijn.. And the doc wrote a letter to the doc at ijn, asking the doc at ijn to perform coros on my dad..

The doc mentioned that it is one kind of an angiogram. An xray for heart, to check how many percent of the blood vessel was blocked etc..

I want to know, what exactly coros is? Is it MRA? Or doc will insert a tube from my dad's arm or leg, and then do the xray? Anyone knows what coros is? Thanks..

My dad afraid that the doc will insert a tube to his body to do the xray. As his friend said that if the doc insert the tube to his body, that will cause pain, real pain.. And if it is mra, it will not cause pain, as it is just like a ct-scan..

Anyone knows? Thanks

Coros is coronary angiogram. The procedure is to see the flow of blood vessel to the heart in real time..The surgeon will make a small hole in the femoral artery to insert a small tube call catheter and he will guide it through the blood vessel until it reach the heart..Then under x-ray,he will inject a small amount of medical dye called contrast media through the tube..As the contrast media is radiopaque, you can see very clearly the blood vessel under x-ray so you the surgeon know where is the blockage..The tube is very small, less than 1 cm..

It will be done under anesthesia so there is no pain..In fact, you need to be only warded for one day..
