Hey guys, I've been trying all night to flash both TWRP/CWM custom recovery into my phone and they don't work at all, it goes into installing update for a moment then it just fails and goes straight into what I presume the stock recovery.
I tried adb method as well to unlock bootloader, which requires me to boot into fastboot first but that didn't work as well. Does this mean my phone has a locked bootloader? Any way around this?
N910C Malaysia set FYI

QUOTE(benny888 @ Dec 6 2015, 10:41 PM) All Note4 comes with unlock bootloader Flash your cwm recovery using odin in PC I did just that. I used Odin v3.0.4 to flash the latest version of TWRP and try to access recovery after that. It goes into recovery where I see the green android but it flashes so fast and just goes back into story recovery and says dm-verity verification failed. Happened when I tried to flash CWM instead as well.

Is the one circled in red the right file to download? I just tried flashing with the latest Odin, didn't make any difference either. Attached image(s)

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Dec 6 2015, 11:06 PM) yes, make sure boot in download mode (hold power + volume down + home) btw which android version you using ? Yes, through download mode. I am actually fairly experienced in flashing custom rom, did that for few years when I used to own an Android phone. Btw, IIRC, on first flash, the Android installing icon lasts for quite long, though the installation still somehow failed in the end. For now it just flashes through few statuses and fail almost instantly and bring me back to stock recovery.

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Dec 7 2015, 12:58 AM) If your android version is 5.1.1, make sure when u flash twrp recovery, please untick auto reboot Once finish flash, unplug cable, take out battery and on it boot into recovery mode Turns out this is what 'fixed' my issue. I did not boot into recovery mode RIGHT AFTER flashing TWRP with download mode (either I had auto-reboot checked or just somehow decided to boot up first). It was not necessary to do this back then but after I followed the instructions, TWRP got installed successfully. Hope this helps out any other users who faced the same problem. Looking to change case, can someone comment on the S-View flip case?
I'm planning to buy it but I'm not sure if it's a practical case due to the need to flip it open.
Would also appreciate if anyone can recommend a good case.

QUOTE(noobandroid @ Dec 8 2015, 09:23 PM) S-View case is ok, i have it, with the case you can: call your favourite contacts right from s view window configure wallpapers and some minor settings on the window receive calls from the window (havent tested sms though, nobody sms me nowadays ) the overall feel of the case is quite nice, although the original s view case is hell of an expensive item, i got mine at half price.. well almost, was 40% off Do you have a tempered glass SP installed? Can the flap be closed properly with one installed? Also does anyone have experience using non-original samsung charger that claims to have quick charge capability? Does it charge as quickly as the original charger that comes with the phone?

QUOTE(twtang @ Dec 9 2015, 09:31 AM) Morning, I need some help on rooting my Note 4.0 Android 5.1.1 (COJ5) I used TWRP and load in from Odin in download mode. Then, i pull out battery and boot into recovery mode, and try to install this kernel: CF-Auto-Root-trelte-treltexx-smn910c.tar (downloaded from the guide from the Note 4.0 Thread first screen) Then, it gives me error flashing the zip file..and failed. Now my Note 4.0 is in boot loop and need some help. You are on 5.1.1 so you should flash a kernel first (stock/custom) before trying to root your phone, else you will be stuck on bootloop. Can you still get into TWRP? If you can, flash a kernel. Otherwise Odin back to stock and redo the flashing. Edit: Seems that you got kernel and rooting confused, perhaps you can read more on these 2 first. This post has been edited by JustForFun: Dec 9 2015, 10:04 AM

QUOTE(twtang @ Dec 9 2015, 10:29 AM) Thanks for the advice. Actually, i want to root the phone but I cannot find any source related to root Android 5.1.1. Can you lead me the light, and of course now I have screwed up the phone, hahaha... Nee to recover it first only can root right? Yes, I can still go into TWRP, what should I do next? Appreciate that. Do you have an external SD card? If you have it, download this kernel and put it into your external SD card, then boot into TWRP and install it from the external SD card. If you don't have external SD card, you have to install ADB to push the kernel above into the phone. This post has been edited by JustForFun: Dec 9 2015, 10:56 AM

QUOTE(twtang @ Dec 9 2015, 11:20 AM) Thanks, I have external SD card and can do that. After I flash the kernel, then I can root right? Can you share with me any source that I can refer regarding rooting the 5.1.1 (COJ5)? Yes. Refer to this link for more information. From the source it seems that you can reflash the ChainFire zip you already have to root your phone, upon flashing the kernel I shared with you.
