I didn't know there are so many versions of RX100 in the market now. I thought there is only the Mk2, but looks like there is the Mk3 and Mk4 now.

Can anybody give a brief rundown on the major differences in features between all these versions. And if possible, the improvement in image quality from the Mk1 up to the Mk4 (if there areany tangible differences). I am aware sometimes the differences are minor to the point of negligible.

Saw these at a store yesterday. The RX100 Mk2 is selling at RM2149 whereas the RX100 Mk3 is selling at RM2879. The RX100 Mk4 is substantially costlier at RM3799.

Have you really "google" about the difference at first place?

The search on the internet did not produce any results on the things I am looking for.

Is there an online review of the differences between the RX100 Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 and Mk4? Or are there any local photographers who have compared all versions here in-store who could share the findings both technical features and photographic qualities?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

There is quite a bit of contradictory views on DPReview regarding the RX100 M3 and RX100 M4. Some though that there is no difference in image quality between the two cameras, whilst some thought the M4 has tangible improvement in still photos when compared to M3.

Guess the main difference between the M3 and M4 when compared to M1 and M2 is in the flip screen, other than image quality.

Interesting that the original RX100 selling at RM1000 with free accessories. Certainly a pretty good buy. Maybe the RX100 M2 will sell close to that price sometime next year.

This year Sony new line-up is more to video-centric. the image quality between m3 and m4 is rathe subtle. noticeable by pro eyes.

from rx100 to m2 to m3 its always something new added in and making it rx100 series always on top against competitor. m4 upgrades is more to internal, unnoticeable at first glance. Need field test the see the difference, but nonetheless, its definitely the best choice is price is not a concern. tongue.gif tongue.gif

too bad rx100 you can hardly find it in store. i don't think rx100m2 will discontinue that fast. i believe its still got market value for the next 2 years.

Good one there...

I am using MKII and very happy with it. I am not a pro cameraman but I love photography. With MKII, I can easily bring the camera everywhere and I can fit it with an external mic or flash. Picture quality between MKII and MKIII (my friend has one) is somewhat the same looking from a naked eye.

It really boils down to what you want in a picture. For me, if the picture quality is good for my hi res screen and HD TV, then it will be good enough for me because I love to view the pictures using my computer and the TV. I seldom print them out now.

Cheers....

MK1 still available. Apparently still selling in the UK. After cashback and discounts, still cost about £204. Has the Spectre tag too. Lol. But some people said that if MK3 or MK4, might as well buy a5000/5100/6000 series.

The whole point of RX100 is the form factor, its never meant as a contender for best cost/performance ratio.
