Not in this case, no. Divvy give to shareholders but stock price got slashed accordingly. Net effect is weaken company financial position with no real benefits to shareholders at all, besides the 2 tauke that got the share placement at low price

The truth is out there.......
That article from the Edgemarkets has one very important point....

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/aira...-shareholders-0
That part in bold...

Bursa had to extend that special privilege placement 4 times and that it required boss 1 and boss 2 to borrow!!

Empat kali lo...

Borrow to buy the new shares... 559 million new shares .... the share were priced at 1.80.

The dividends since Jan 2017... ie the dividends since these 559 million shares were issued...

user posted image

Total dividends given out since then.... 178 sen!!

WOW!!

Borrow to fund 559 million shares at 1.80. Get back 1.78 in dividends per share.

Not to forget the direct shares they had.... Boss 1 had 1,600,000 shares. Boss 2 had 2,000,000 shares

So would I be wrong to say the following... when AA had excess money, boss 1 and boss 2 would die die borrow to buy new shares in the company so can profit from the dividends...
and now the company is in dire straits.... why boss 1 and boss 2 no want to die die borrow to buy new shares in the company to save it?

and then... when we think about it...
AirAsia had the money...
Yes they had the money, which came from all the disposal of planes but they gave most of it away as dividends...
now.. they want to borrow?

whose fault? wanna to blame covid 19 meh? how about calling it as it? Mismanagement by boss 1 and boss 2!!!

What was AirAsia traded price the day AirAsia completed the placement?

AirAsia opening price on 27th Jan 2017 was 2.47.
The special privilege placement shares was priced at 1.80.

Singapore Airlines reports US$817m loss in 1Q due to pandemic

SYDNEY: Singapore Airlines Ltd on Wednesday reported a S$1.123 billion ($816.73 million) first-quarter net loss after drastically cutting capacity due to the decline in demand and travel restrictions associated with the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The net loss compared with a S$111 million profit in the three months ending June 30 the prior year. Revenue plunged 79.3% to S$851 million during the quarter, the airline said in a statement.

Singapore Airlines this month had warned it would report a material operating loss in the first quarter, including fuel hedge losses from sinking oil prices. ($1 = 1.3750 Singapore dollars). - Reuters

Actually AirAsia is not bad what other people think as most of it are being still held by the banks mainly CIMB and Maybank in terms of credits that is still due to be payout to customers as most people have locked in the cheap flights in 2019.

On the other hand the AAX is seriously is the one which is draining AA which is now the trouble due to country immigration laws

I’m waiting to see on what next they are willing to do come Dec especially on the change fees as most people will have to travel some sort domestically in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

The only thing to look for is their hedging against markets especially fuel hedging which is denominated by USD which they will have to write off and the currency exchange is not favourable against them.

Most likely what will happen they will have to probably list their new company called Teleport most likely if the take up from the investment banking is willing to take risk to float it up as penny shares probably as low RM0.15 to raise capital since SK Investment might be will taking up a small stake.

Agree, with current market situation, and RMCO extended to end of the year, better to avoid this counter for now.

depends on how long the travel ban is gonna be. if next year also cannot travel then gg loh.

don't forget some of the non-current liabilities may turn into current liabilities for the coming FY.

in view of this, there could be more creditors piling up as time goes by.

i'd say, they may die even faster (figuratively).

ak business model is feasible and profitable. unless the gomen wanted to kill it, it will survive. however, they may curtail tf's role.

as much as the feasible and profitable business model is, if the travel ban is still there, it will be directly hitting the airline companies and those tourism related ones.

i wouldn't say the gomen wants to kill it by imposing travel ban, this is more to addressing the current covid 19 issue.

not to forget, travel ban is also affecting MAS which is gomen owned and supported by you too.

in this country, politic is often precede economy. they would rather kill the goose for the golden egg.

mas is a zombie company, incurring less loss while grounded. khazanah is in no hurry to restart mas operation.

Short sellers take aim at AirAsia after stock hits 1-year high

KUALA LUMPUR (BLOOMBERG) – Short sellers are circling AirAsia Group Bhdafter the stock more than doubled from recent lows.

The carrier, once the pioneer of a low-cost flying revolution in Asia, is now the third-most shorted stock by volume in Malaysia, exchange data show. Top Glove Corp remains at the top of short sellers’ list, which includes other glove makers such as Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd and Hartalega Holdings Bhd.

AirAsia shares have jumped amid bets the worst may be over as global vaccine roll-outs boost market hopes for global reopenings. The rally has left the gap between analysts’ 12-month price target for the stock and its current value at the widest in almost three years. Its relative strength index rose to 83 on Monday (March 15), a level signaling overbought conditions.

While a revival in travel “will be exponentially rewarded in airline stocks, in the case of AirAsia there might be some concern around balance sheet,” said Nirgunan Tiruchelvam, head of consumer sector equity research at Tellimer. “Within the cohort of airline stocks, it might be looking a bit vulnerable.”

AirAsia was highlighted a month ago in the online community by Bursabets, a Malaysian version of Reddit’s WallStreetBets forum, with the title ‘Any BULLS wanna fly with AirAsia?’ The stock trades at RM1.23 versus the 12-month price target of 55 sen. It has surged almost 40 per cent so far this year.

Total short position 1.63%. If shareholders sell it they might not get back that entry levels like 0.53, 0.67... etc
