Can anyone recommend a seiko watch similar design to seiko snk809k2 which has date and day with a face watch within 38-42 mm. Do not care if battery solar or kinetic as long as it is light. Nylon or leather strap. Don't want metal. Thanks

How bought like mine? SNZG15 , they have the exact thing but with green and navy blue. Here's mine in a leather strap!

Was thinking of that one too. Don't you think it is big on your arm? I have tried both. My arm is similar to yours. The lugs are at the edge

Nice watch.

Weirdly when I tried this watch, it seems bigger compared to the SRP625.

Not sure case is 44 or 42 mm

Major difference between Seiko 5 compared to other Seiko range would be?

I think those 5 seiko pillars. Easy to tell seiko 5 is easy to read, day and date function.

If you don't like Seiko 5 Automatic, can look at this similar. Seiko Kinetic SKA727

well thats weird. i have srp635 and it is definitely bigger than the snzg13. i think for srp635 and the likes, wrist smaller than 7 inch will too big to wear.
*

Yes. Weird. Maybe it is the band material? or band size becomes fit?

No idea. My wrist is 6 3/4 " so cannot use big size watches anyway.

Finally settled on a watch. If you have a 175mm wrist like me where the SNK809 (37mm) is too small and the SNZG15 (42mm) is too big, get the SNE095P2. At 40 mm, it is also lighter and thinner compared to the SNK809 and solar powered with 10 month battery reserve. Downside, not automatic watch and no see through case back. Also, it is a polished case, some may not like that.

with seikos, i prefer automatics.
for solar quartz i would go with either Citizen or Casio.

my wrist is 170mm. i have both snk809 & snzg15 lol
*
i feel the snzg15 too big. Don't want overhangs on lugs.
I prefer the same as well. My only problem is that finding a military watch with the snk809 at 40mm is hard...aside from buying a hamilton.

I noticed the band of the sne095 is also same with the snk sngz. The band is stiff and feel like got some sharp bits. Any ideas how to make it soft? Or maybe I should change bands?

nylon as in with leather backing, just thick nylon or nato/zulu?

when i first got my seiko, i went nato route. at first it seems nice due to easy swapping and multiple colour choices but eventually it only lasted a very short while and my preference went to silicone/rubber and leather nowadays.

them nylon natos are thin and doesnt hold the weight of a 42mm-and-above watch confortably. the watch sits high above wrist surface and made the weight shift around. to overcome this you gotta bind your strap tight, but in the long run, the hole gets enlarged and spoilt. BUT, it probably has got to do with my purchase of cheap natos from ebay/ali. never bothered to pay for expensive natos from some mat saleh brands because their asking price i can get some nice leathers.
*
Sweaty hands and contact with water. Not sure if leather will help

then either bracelet or silicone/rubber would be the best for your situation.

them nato/zulus will retain water and remain damp for quite some time and trust me, you wont like that feel.
*

the original strap has started to fray. Like 2nd day. The band is also stiff and has sharp edges that scratches the skin.

Can suggest me any good rubber/silicone strap?

i put my wife's snk803 on a hadley roma cordura strap. looks good.

Is this rubber?

this one is pretty soft if you dont mind some colours

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Cocotina-Do...iceBeautifyAB=0

just do a search around ali/ebay. 20mm silicone strap

Thanks. Will see that. I see on amazon that Barton brand seems to be good with thousands of reviews

Can anyone recommend me a dress watch which is 46mm or less lug to lug height?. Most are above 47 mm. I have a small wrist. 40 mm is my limit. Currently using SNE095P2 on custom strap at 46 mm. The Seiko 5 SNZG 42mm is too big

both models u mentioned aren't exactly dress watches...
that said, almost any other seiko 5...or the cocktail series.

The SNE is my current daily watch. Want something special to to wear daily. Since I work in an office environment, so I a dress watch fits perfectly.

How about sarbs? Ditch the bracelet, plonk in some serious leathers and tadaah... A dress watch lulz

QUOTE(zyrex_ho @ Dec 3 2018, 12:32 PM)
SARBs have lug to lug of around 47mm isn't it?
*
Yes, this is why.

QUOTE(zyrex_ho @ Dec 3 2018, 12:36 PM)
Take a look at Timex Marlin 34mm, I think it lug to lug is 42mm.
*
Don't like dome crystal. The marlin also not my taste.

QUOTE(andrewhtf @ Dec 3 2018, 12:42 PM)
44.

How small is your wrist anyway?
*
46 mm is nice. with 3 mm of wrist left so that the lug does not exceed the wrist width.

this is only if ur wrist is flat as a piece of paper... else the flat part of ur wrist is probably like 35mm.
lug design more important, how it curves etc.
a 50mm lug to lug curved nicely, will fit and look better than a 45mm almost flat case.
*
True. But without a place to test the watch, I rely on online reviews and dimensions. My previous timex was bought 16 years ago also through online. I bought an adidas watch with custom strap. I think the watch was quite big, but because the strap was custom, after 8 years and 3 straps, could no longer find strap replacement. Now it is gathering dust. No longer buying some custom strap watch.

I'm interested in either the:
SSA379J1

or the

SSA231K1

or the

SPB045J1

Since I don't have the physical watches, I am afraid to purchase it.

u can pretty much just walk into any store selling seiko and try any presage...all will feel about the same.

This is because of the same 40.5 mm dimension?

Seiko can tahan 10years , recommend every 5yrs service once. Service price for normal Seiko movement around rm130 - rm300. Grand Seiko or high beat movement need send back to Japan and the service price u know la.
*
So the 4r 6r movement need to send to Japan?

QUOTE(andrewhtf @ Dec 9 2018, 10:04 AM)
My experience with steven wah foong, my seiko 5 with 7s movement was serviced for only rm120, excluding any possible parts that need replacement.

There is no specific time interval for service with these 7s workhorse movement though, it just keeps beating for years. Only send for service if u notice that the timekeeping is way out deviated or u had dropped your watch and it is not working
*
I see. Thanks
