refer to manufacture spec?

Manufacurer won't disclose what panel they use on their spec sheet coz this can jeorpadize their sales.

it is still your luck wether u getting the PVA or SIPS. For the time being, seems the SIPS is still around in Malaysia and other forum did mentioned that Dell is moving all the panels back to SIPS(this is just an assumption). There were not many PVA users around, thus there seems not much complaint about it other than the advantage of SIPS.

it depends on the brand that you are buying, different brand have differetn policies...The usual want is you need at least 5 dead pixel then only can claim, but some if you have one dead pixel in the center you can claim as well.

If not mistaken, all SONY lcd monitors has "zero dot pixels" warranty.

Meaning, "one dead pixel" oso can claim warranty wink.gif

but SONY's lcd panels and monitor recently seems kinda dead in the market...

"zero dead pixel" for how long?. I don't think they gonna give you 1 year "zero dead pixel policy"...what ever it is, viewsonic is giving "zero dead pixel policy" for 30days if i am not wrong, need to check the details again.

Well LCD got their pros and cons. Not gonna talk about prices, LCD is getting cheaper.

Pros:
1. You can get to immense size but not take up one big area on the table (CRTs do, due to their electron guns)
2. Yeah, no flickers at all, it's liquid, not electrons.
3. Flat screen, light, and the display takes all the available spot on the screen (aka no black borders, for perfectionists tongue.gif)
4. No flickers, basically Hz doesn't really matter, most of em are fine on 60 Hz.
Cons:
1. Well, one con, and that is your display gets blurry, due to the time taken to shift the image. Although they say they say 8 ms reaction time, CRT got 0 ms reaction time tongue.gif(try move your mouse around, use 2 monitors, see which one got blur which one doesn't, of course, compare using crt and lcd).

I must say the con doesn't really matter, it won't hurt (at all) your uber reaction time on first person shooters.

Well, I can say that Dell leads the LCD market, their monitors had been fine, even the reviews are good, with all the features you wanted such as aspect ratio scaling by putting black borders so that you don't get stretched images, good for games.

My bro is using samsung, it works well too.

yes, there is a possiblity that there are more than one panel type for one model. So u must now what version and when, where is was manufactured. The hoo-haa came up because DELL was using S-IPS for 2007WFP initially, and they switch to S-PVA without informing the public and never introduce a new model. This is kinda ripped off, coz u are paying a high price for S-IPs yet u r getting S-PVA. but never the less, it seems that DELL is moving the panels back to S-IPS. Is just rumors, but the Malaysia DELL is still giving S-IPS as far as i know. It still falls to luck wether what panel you are getting if you are purchasing from DELL. Not only DELL is doing this, other manufacturer are doing this as well.
