The base is the most important part imho. which is the workmanship and wood of the body and neck. electronics are parts that can be replaced easily. but u can't detract from the fact that the base is inferior. guitars are one thing that are very worth it buying second hand provided it's in good shape. cannot put in the second hand=not good/create more probs mentality here. these musical instruments are made out of wood, not PCB's. instruments that are well made and well taken care of will become better over time in fact, which is not the case with most other second hand stuff. cheaper stuff are good stepping stones to learn on. but not good stuff to invest a lot of money in, coz you are spending so much money on something in which it's base isn't worth much. it's pretty subjective tho, if you "happen" to get a very well made one that you like very much, even compared to the more expensive ones.
this has been pretty much said by a number of ppl here.

Isn't buzzing normal for strats and teles ? (those without humbuckers, SSS configs) What makes you think changing the pickups will stop buzzing (unless you add humbuckers)

your budget was rm1600, why didnt you get a squier standard strat then? you wouldve gotten better wood, electronics etc.
if you still want to change pickups, a good set would be around RM600++. then installation fee about RM100.

1stly, i dun wan get so expensive one as i said im going for a real good after i getting pro.ill jz put it there, no point spending much. summore pickups i can change for or sell next time still have value cuz its well known brand. 2ndly,i asked 3 shops pun takde...im not in kl for the following 1 month + + holiday mah.cant wait also. i feel the bridge pickup is not bad,how if i change only the neck n mid pickups? u guys think Fender pickups ok?but many always go for seymour.
thx bman for telling me that. jz as i mentioned im a 1 year old guitarist still newbie, and this is my 1st electric guitar, i guess thats where i start learning basic things by getting cheap 1 1st.

If you're talking about pickups, there really isn't much difference in price. By the time you add in the shipping, most of the ones you find here are roughly the same price..... but CERTAIN pickups that are not available here (A reliable DiMarzio dealer anyone???) MIGHT be cheaper to be ordered overseas. I doubt that Singapore sends out pickups though. I could be wrong.......
My EMG-ZWs were bought here for maybe around 30 ringgit more....... and saves me the hassle of actually traveling down to Singapore and get it....

actually theres been another price increase for EMGs. my friend went down to bentley last week, EMG81 listed at RM430 now. so the ZW set i guess RM800 so SG will save you close to RM200 for that set now. and wtf isnt my netscape rendering lowyat properly now? IE is rendering fine. This post has been edited by Everdying: Nov 30 2006, 10:52 PM

Well, For Bents.... you REALLY have to bargain. Never take anything there for face value.
I bought my EMG-ZWs for RM710 I think.......

i might go down SG again sometime dec, depending on when sweelee announces their end of yr sale.

If you are into ebay buying, I would recommend this guy http://stores.ebay.com/Martin-6-String-CustomsI plan to order Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 neck humbucker & DiMarzio 500K push/pull pot, maybe next month, from him. I got recommended to him from forumers in Seymour Duncan forum. His nick there is Bada Bing. Seems to get high recommendations from forumers in Seymour Duncan forum. I ordered two Dimarzio pickups from gain10music....i think they're on the way to Malaysia....yes...it's shipping fees is cheap indeed...SGD9 for two pickups plus it's registered post....receipent's signature needed when received......for their admin....order enquiry's admin.....i'm very satisfy with their fast reply even on 12am.....they'll clarify in details to help you as much as they can....about their price tag.....it's fixed.....when you check out with shopping cart.....the total amount of money will be convert into MYR.....might be on RM2.39=SGD1...wonder why so high....
Btw....i got Dimarzio Evolution Bridge and Dimarzio Breed Neck.....RM653.27 plus shipping fees.....i believe it's much cheaper than Malaysia's dealer....
