Ok guys, heres my question, im sorry if its posted in the wrong place.
The situation is like this, I have an Ibook G4 1.33, and when i am at home , i can connect air port, use the internet etc without any problems. However, everytime i try to connect to MSN, it just cant connect. However, i have tried connecting to msn when i am online outside like at starbucks or something, and there's no problem .
On the other hand, i can connect to MSN on my other laptop although i am at home, without any problems whatsoever.
Therefore, im wondering, could it be that the ibook connects to MSN thru different ports which are blocked on my router or something?anyone has an idea?
Sorry, im not sure whether i should post this in networking or here, cos networking side members might not know bout apple, and over here, not sure whether u guys are familiar with anything of this sort.
Btw, the router is an Aztech ADSL EU600 or something, shared with my housemates and im not the moderator for it, just use only.
So, anyone with any suggestion pls advice ok?thanks guys!

QUOTE(lily_ger @ Dec 4 2006, 11:36 PM) Hi there, I am also having this problem. Everytime, I try to connect, it will take more than 5 minutes to log in especially during peak hours. Saturday Sunday it is like shiat... Anyway, my advise is to keep on trying till u get to connect coz that is what I do.. Really that long? Mine is about 3min like that..

You guys should give Adium a go. Best IM client for Mac IMO. Only drawbacks is it doesn't support MSNP11 (webcam, personal messages those kinda things) and above yet but works are in progress (they're waiting on libgaim). aMSN has support for MSNP11 but it looks kinda ugly... Mercury MSN supports the most features but looks kinda ugly as well and is a memory hog.

I recommend that you use Adium. While its simple and lacks a lot of features you'd find on MSN Live and even on aMSN, it's only used for chatting anyway, right? hehe

I've used Adium, Mercury aMSN and MSN messenger and I would recommend Mercury. Basically because it always work. never crashes like Adium or Messenger. They tend to crash very often which is very annoying.

What version of Adium are you talking bout here? The latest 1.0 beta or 0.89.1? Have you tried Adium 1.0 beta?

Ironically, i don't have any issues signing into MSN on my mac... BUT.... my yahoo messenger on mac always logs off and logs back on after a few minutes of non-activity. It's behaviour is really strange....
