Title is totally overkill, this thing is not even close to being a DSLR killer.

A DSLR is not only about image quality.

Interesting how this small piece of technology can match or surpass the performance of DSLR cameras. It looks like it's smaller than small compact camera such as the Sony RX100. Light probably does not rely on the size of the sensor to produce high quality images but it is clear that the device has 16 individual numbers of built-in cameras that fuse images to create a final 52MP photo.

Though I don't think it will be replace DSLR at any time. It may be just a new technological marvel that is an alternative to conventional cameras. The only phenomenon that's happening now is there are less people who are using DSLRs and high-quality compacts these days compared to 5 years ago with the evolution of smartphones that are producing photos that rival the best compacts. The flexibility and ease of convenience of a camera phone are very tangible which gives it an edge over larger compacts.

Nowadays most people are using smartphones to capture precious moments even when during vacations overseas. DSLRs are still useful though, particularly during wedding shots.

Everyone wants to be a DSLR killer but they can't.

Even those mirrorless and all - they're great but they're limit, till date there's no new system that overtakes the DSLR when it comes to AF speed and AF accuracy.

lytro, finally a camera that will kill DSLR because it can focus after you shot.... almost bankrupt after 1 year...

Ricoh Tetha! u can pan/zoom/rotate around inside the video (360degree) after taken (seriously crazy shit)... last month, 2nd gen, no selling well, really bad video quality... ricoh might abandon it. but i soooo wan one unit!

i'd say give this company 1 year and see what happen.

It's not all about megapixels. Nokia also have high megapixels camera on their phone but can they replace dslr?there are a lot of people's misconception about megapixels=picture quality

FF mirrorless didn't kill dslr but done a lot of damage and can't be taken lightly. Give them time to improve sure the damage will be higher

well, the title A True DSLR Killer is misleading... i am not one big surprise or excited with the Light L16 at all. its a tech is long due... EG; same like OLED or AMOLED thingie, which only available 10 years back(pushed by samsung) while i wrote a degree report regard on it 20 years back and oled was revealed in 1980s by kodak but discovered in 1970s and many many many manay techhhhh ... a lot tech long over due, because lack of funding they are never brought into market (or they dont make money like funding for more medicine research instead of prevention research)... im still waiting for my flying delorean.... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
