Hi, i have an Isuzu D-max 2.5 4x2, which is fine in terms of functional & durability.

but the engine power suck till the bottom, which i would rate it as the slowest car i've ever driven, and everytime it makes me looks like a lane-hogging bastard in highway, and sometime, it's extremely dangerous when i need to overtake cars when driving on kampung road.

so, is there anything i can do to make the engine slightly more powerful? any modification i can do or any recommendation on engine transplant?

Yours is the one which has only 176NM of torque that version ?? If yours is not commonrail, I don't think a remap can solve your problem. If commonrail one, easily 400NM+ of torque can get with a remap.

If iteq2.5 yes...

Better trade in one with iteq 2.5 or 3.0, then can mod easily

maybe u can have a look at this if just wanna eliminate the turbo lag and wanna gain some minor hp and torque...100% plug and play and no wiring cutting at all...simple and steady

Expect around 20 to 30hp would be ok, higher will destroy your engine..actually adding only intercooler will increase your hp too- around 10 to 15 hp...but intercooler only will bring turbo lag that why need turbo upgrade too.

hmm.. seems like not much..

any idea how much torque will gain?

i always carry heavy goods & travel long distance, guess torque could be more important..

Perhaps from 176 to 260 tq... but ofcoz if u got more money to spend u can always set it up high with high performance turbo...my advice is, add intercooler only first...turbo later. But if total mod cost u over 6k ...better trade or buy another pickup...

haha.. make sense, probably changing car is the ultimate solution..

if it can increase from stock 176Nm to 260Nm & the cost is around RM 3k, i would be glad to invest on it..

but i'm also having another thinking of transplant to the 2.5 iteq, wondering how much would the cost be..

TD06 turbo , alphatech , larger intercooler , and minor tune , can get around 250 horse power ... but cost around 20-30k ... another suggestion ( change to current isuzu 2.5 VGS 4x2 .. or vcross 3.0 )

This model arrr. No commonrail geh, i have one before. Very slow de. What u can do is adjust the fuel pump to gain little bit power, but i will become more smoke. Don't hope for unichip, EcuShop, bla bla bla... coz it can't tune. And last thing, if u looking for power don't waste money on this engine. Dump in a 1 JZ since you ride only got 2WD.

no need 250hp.. just need the torque, i'm actually checking with 2md hand & new pickup now, considering the dmax 2.5 vgs, triton 2.5 & hilux 2.5 vnt..

This racun manyak kuat laugh.gif

Get the 1JZ vvti version, better & cheaper maintenance. But pls bear in mind, using a turbo-ed petrol l6 is very addictive laugh.gif coz the boost is very siok oh.

Need to be careful with the suspension since u might be carried away by the new fun icon_idea.gif

Go online and find the turbo specs. Alternatively if you do not want a major upgrade on turbo, you can opt for EBC.

TS car is the old with 4AJ1 diesel ening which is direct injection turbo diesel. I had it last time. Even u change the turbo or adjust the boost also slow. Doesn't same with those commonrail diesel engine which can put in piggyback easily. sad.gif
