Regarding the activation of WISE credit card, we should first send SMS to obtain temporary pin.

Then, we need to convert temporary pin to permanent pin at Hong Leong ATM. For this step, should I insert the WISE credit card into Hong Leong ATM?

Second question:

In term of the appearance of the card, what is the difference between WISE Gold Card and WISE Platinum Card? Just the word 'Platinum' on WISE Platinum Card? I wrongly thought that WISE Gold Card would have golden wordings. rclxub.gif

I called HLB to activate my card though.

By now, the pin you received is still temporary one, not permanent? By look of it, it is unavoidable to go to the Hong Leong ATM to insert WISE credit card, and to generate the permanent pin.

Yes, permanent pin is not needed for now, as pin-based transaction is not fully implemented in Malaysia. Still, I want to get it done now.

After activating the card, can we straight way call the Customer Support to change the statement date? I will definitely not be using this card till next month, because it is next to impossible for me to spend 10 X RM 50 in the remaining half month of October.

Maxispay is easy to register and pay. Can save credit card details and favourite the Maxis account as well.

So, is it perfectly safe to let Maxispay store our credit card details?

soft copy available on post 1. just fill it with adobe reader and send it to the email above. more efficient i guess. i sent the hardcopy twice to their hq but nothing done.

I tried sending the form (in which my details are filled with Adobe Reader) to HLOnline@hlbb.hongleong.com.my.

This is their reply:
QUOTE
Due to the original signature is required & branch chop ; please submit the completed and duly signed forms to the nearest Hong Leong Bank branches

shakehead.gif So, they cannot accept electronically-filled form, and insist on hand-written form. It is a simple form to set SMS threshold alert, so what harm could it do?

Is there any way for me to convince the Customer Service Officer to accept electronically-filled form? It is quite a hassle for me to go to any Hong Leong Branch.

Thanks. smile.gif

1) I am sure that almost all of us in this thread have Hong Leong Bank Wise Gold Card, instead of the Platinum Card. So, we cannot dial 1-800-38-8830 (Platinum hotline) , for our credit card enquires, right?

2) How do I enable the option to have e-statement for this credit card?

Thanks for the information. smile.gif

So, by opting for e-Statement, the bank will not send us the hardcopy statement, right?

I understand that. I guess that many of us choose e-Statement for sake of convenience. smile.gif

Does hardcopy bill sent by post have the similar category tagging for our eligible transactions?

In other words, will the hardcopy show something like this?

Yeah, I know that the benefits of e-statement outweigh that of the hardcopy bill. For me, I would like to have hardcopy bill for the first month, before I choose the option of e-statement later onwards.

In my opinion, if the option of e-statement is selected, we may not be able to revert to the option of hardcopy bill.

any transactions after bill date will be shown in the main history (unbilled).

After Statement Date, how do I view the transactions posted before Statement Date, inside HL Connect? In other means, these transactions are now a part of the latest bill statement.

Thank you for your informative reply, cybpsych. notworthy.gif

It is very different from Maybank 2u website, whereby we can view all transactions (before and after Statement Date) in one place. That is why I cannot manage to find transactions posted before Statement Date, inside HL Connect.

As recommended by other experts here, I try to hit 12 x RM 50 transactions early in the first week of month. It is done, mostly by buying shopping vouchers.

Why is it 12 times, instead of the required 10 times? In case that some transactions are unfortunately reversed, I would have at least 10 x RM 50 transactions, to obtain the cashback. Thanks again to all experts, who provide suggestions to use this card. thumbup.gif

for groceries?

For AEON, buying shopping vouchers is normally treated as a departmental transaction.

You can use the shopping vouchers to purchase grocery or any departmental items. smile.gif

My purpose is to achieve 10 x RM 50 transactions early in the month. If you have one less RM 50 transaction than 10 times (as emphasized by many experts here), you are not going to get any cashback at all.

yep, after Statement Date, the transactions magically wrapped into another page instead. confusing for 1st time user of HL Connect.

Still, I think that HL Connect has a distinctive advantage over Maybank2u, as it shows "Combined Available Limit".

As we all know, posting date is normally one or two days after the transaction date.

However, for Hong Leong Credit cards, if you calculate the reduction in "Combined Available Limit" after you swipe your credit card, you will roughly know whether the correct amount has been charged to your credit card or not.

And, the reduction in "Combined Available Limit" is immediately seen. So, for a quick check, you do not have to wait till the transaction is posted in HL Connect. Definitely, Maybank2u does not show "Combined Available Limit".

I guess that each bank has its pros and cons. smile.gif

It is kind of a silly question blush.gif , but I want a confirmation on it that it is applicable to Hong Leong Bank.

My question:
Assume that my payment due date is on the 30th of each month.

I shall pay the entire amount of statement balance on the 30th, via Hong Leong Connect website. So, financial charges and late payment changes will not be incurred in this way, right?

Or, do I have to pay the entire amount of statement balance on the 29th?

Thanks for the answer. rclxms.gif

As expected, you are very competent in maximizing the benefit of WISE card. rclxms.gif

Thus, I hope that you can retain your WISE card, instead of cancelling it during the second year of using the card, in order to avoid the annual fee.

No doubt, Maybank Ikhwan MasterCard (Petrol and Grocery) and UOB VOX card (Online) offer 5 % cashback without much difficulties, and are easier to use.

If all of us here, including you, can bear the inconvenience of using WISE card, we would not mind in using 10 % cashback, to offset the annual fee.

It is just my opinion, fruitie. smile.gif No issues. Feel free to decide by yourself whether to keep or cancel your card next year, and I will respect your decision.

I set the threshold of SMS transaction alert to RM 1.

Basically, I do get SMS for any transaction performed, by physically swiping WISE card at the credit card terminal.

Then again, for November and December, I did not get any SMS, for online payment of Maxis bill, through Maxis Pay website. This is a manual payment, not autodebit transaction.

Are SMS also sent for online transactions? hmm.gif

Thanks for the information, cybpsych.

So, for any online transaction that is validated through OTP sent to our handphone, we are not going to get SMS transaction alert, right?

For Maybank credit cards, we still get SMS transaction alert for such online transactions validated through OTP. hmm.gif So, in this case, Maybank has an advantage over Hong Leong Bank.

victorywp, did you receive two SMS transaction alerts from Hong Leong Bank on that day, due to the double transactions?

yeah, i received twice. things like this happen on and off. but usually they will only charge once based on the slip that i sign, while the other will be cancelled since there is no slip and no signature. that's why i confirm the problem is from aeon big. further to confirm this, aeon big posted my earlier 3 transactions without delay, while this fourth transaction of mine was posted late and twice.
*
Thank you very much for your clarification. smile.gif As you explained, the second transaction will eventually be voided, since there is no slip and signature.

If you had some free time back then, I would like to suggest that you call Hong Leong Customer Service to notify them about the double transactions, on that very day of the transaction. Even though the same amount of money has been charged twice to your credit card, both of the transactions would have different 6-digit approval code.

The Hong Leong Customer Service Officer would have given you the approval code, of the second transaction that is without slip and your signature. With the approval code, you can approach the chief cashier of the AeonBig to void the transaction.

Mention to the chief cashier that the approval code for the first transaction with the slip and your signature is totally different from the approval code for the second transaction. Emphasize that AeonBig will receive money from the first transaction, and they should void the second (incorrect) transaction with the approval code you give to them.

Once they void the second transaction, a charge slip showing the voided transaction will be printed from the AeonBig credit card terminal. You should sign the merchant copy, and you should then receive the customer copy of the charge slip.

This is how I would solve the problem on that day. Maybe the credit card experts here can recommend better ways to solve this issue.

Using this way, the merchant (AeonBig), the acquirer bank (Maybank who supplied the credit card terminal to AeonBig), and card issuer bank (Hong Leong Bank who give you WISE card) are duly informed of the double transactions on that way. In my opinion, it is better than to wait till your credit card statement is generated. By then, it may be too late to void the second transaction, if this second transaction is not automatically cancelled by then.

It is just my opinion. smile.gif

My SMS threshold is also set at RM 1. blush.gif But, it allows me to detect double transactions.

QUOTE(supersound @ Dec 25 2015, 03:02 PM)
Basically your way are quite good, just that a bit complicated. The fastest way will be call card center on the spot and ask them charge how many times when you have a failed transaction. Just a call for rm0.40 will solve all this problem.
*
I agree with you and victorywp that my method is too tedious. Last time, when I called the Customer Support to solve this double-transaction issue, the Customer Support Officer refused to help me.

The officer said that maximum liability will be placed on the credit card holder to ensure the accuracy of the transactions posted. In event of the double transactions, it is solely up to the cardholder to liaise directly with the merchant and the acquirer bank (which supplies the terminal to merchant). The card issuer bank (Hong Leong Bank) will not be liable for the double posting.

The Customer Support Officer only gave me the 6-digit approval code, to be given to the merchant. The officer said that the card issuer bank is unable to void the double transaction, and thus has the right to charge the amount twice to the cardholder, even though it is clearly the merchant's fault.

The worse case scenario is that the merchant refuses to void the second (incorrect) transaction, even though I have given them the 6-digit approval code. I may choose to submit a dispute form to my card issuer bank, but the officer said that the chances of voiding the second (incorrect) transaction (through dispute form) is rather slim, and I have to pay the same amount twice. sad.gif

I am unsure whether the Customer Support Officer is lying or not. That is why I used the tedious method to deal with the merchant directly, so that I am 100% sure that the second (incorrect) transaction is successfully voided by the merchant.

Appreciate some genuine advices from the credit card experts here. notworthy.gif

Sometimes u r there and u see the guy swipe nothing printout then they swipe again. U sign once. This can happen quite easily. I notice even some bank's dispute form has an option "duplicate transaction" for u to tick. Just could not take the long path every time. I believe as long as we signed once we have the case.

*
If there is still no printout of the charge slip from the credit card terminal, the staff will keep on swiping your credit card, till they get the charge slip. By then, we would have 4 or more SMS transaction alerts, stating that the same amount has been charged to our card 4 or more. rclxub.gif

The staff would not believe that the same amount has been charged to our card 4 times or more, even though I have shown the SMSs on my phone to the staff. They would stop swiping the card, once they see the charge slip.

It is kind of disadvantageous situation for us card holders.
