Good Day,

To make it short, i was a loyal digi customer until weeks ago i was attracted by umobile postpaid plan (rm28 - 3gb data + calls + sms). SO after i ported from Digi to Umobile, the signal bar on top of my phone shows 'R' which stands for roaming even though im still in KL. So i called to umobile, they asked me to go to setting > network> select prefer network. I tried both manual and auto select network, once i selected, the 'R' gone, which mean the line is back to normal where it is supposed to be. But sadly it last for a while only before the 'R' pop up and i hv to press the select network again. There was moment when select network wont work and surprisingly when i switched on Data, the roaming gone. Weird? i even went to the centre and they claimed its my phone setting problem(im using alcatel btw). I asked them to test my sim card with their phone and they refused because they do not have any spare phone doh.gif

Anyone experience this before? any solution?

Thanks

Since they do not have any spare phone, you can try it on your friends phone and see.

For places without 3G, U Mobile will ride on Maxis's 2G network. This is also known as local roaming.

Yes i notice when im at some places without Digi signal previously, now it shows Roaming. so what's the different between the Local roaming and normal signal without rooming? coz when local roaming, whenever i try to make a call, the phone will ask me if im sure to make roaming call . An on top of that, i cant receive call in local roaming call.

Is all this perfectly normal? i just have to live with it ?

My knowledge on mobile network only goes this far. As far as I know, U Mobile had specified that they doesn't charge any extra payment while using local roaming. Some mobile device would not recognize this as local roaming but devices recognizes as local roaming can be difficult to deal with. There is a solution but I don't know how.

yeah.. its normal with umobile
maxis is their domestic partner, some of the area dont have umobile line, but have maxis, so they become roaming to your line.
i think you can turn off the call notification when roaming.
however it is weird that you can received call when roaming..
need to contact umobile for this.
