What good software to make/edit movie?

Anyone knows? I have tried Ulead videostudio and it gave a choppy result.. Pinnacle studio 10 gave me smooth output but when i import avi into it, it sooooooo slow.. windows mocie maker is the smoothest that can run in my comp but it doesn't support avi format good enuf.. any other software beside ulead, pinnacle and windows movie maker?

adobe premier ..  if u want to render fast.. u buy decoder card la.. hehe.. sure fast..

well if ur gonna use adobe premiere, get the PRO versions. as an alternative, you can tryout Sony Vegas. it has Soundforge capabilities integrated to it.

i forgot to mention the adobe premiere the website is showing a v2 and i cant install it due to my processor doesn't support SSE2 (not really sure what it is) 1.5 is also hard for me to get because of ..... tmnut traffic shaping *ahem ahem*
