QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 30 2015, 07:31 PM) No. What it meant is if your FD maturity date fall on Saturday, you will lose 3 days interest (sat*, sun, mon). *not sure you will be given interest for Sat or not. If yes, then you only lose 2 days interest. QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 30 2015, 08:03 PM) i meant why you said "you will lose 3 days interest (sat*, sun, mon)"?banks open on Monday right? QUOTE(bennyt @ Oct 30 2015, 07:27 PM) Banks that do not pay interest for non-working days Am Bank RHB Standard & Chartered Bank Is this means bank won't pay interest for Sat/ Sun/ public holiday? So basically 1 month will lesser 8 to 10 days interest (sat & sun). Effective interest for 1 year will be way way low compare to other bank that pay interest for non-working days. Is my statement correct? QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 30 2015, 08:28 PM) You won't get promo rates after your FD matured right? And is only 1 day (Monday), will they give board rates for that 1 day? bro, people was asking sat/sun/public holiday why people will lose interest on monday? once the bank open on monday people will go uplift their fd and they may place their fund with other banks under any other promotion on the same day itself right? interest will start running once u place a fd right? QUOTE(bbgoat @ Oct 31 2015, 12:18 PM) It depends on the individual. For me, have spread out to 1 mth, 1/2/3/5 yrs FD. Now going for the 6 mths FD. Instead of putting in with OCBC/UOB, move some more funds to AmBank to get 4.25 and one bag ! Maybe I will place with ambank for 6 months but the amount of my funds definitely not entitled for the bag CIMB 4.3% as reported is good. But some how questions posted by other forumers not yet answered. If valid, I will also go for the 4.3% ! currently still placing under OCBC e-SmartSavers 4.0% p.a. promotion, since interest for Oct will be credited by end of today thought of placing under AmBank tomorrow, but too bad the 6 months promo only starts on Monday. may not have time during weekdays |

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 31 2015, 01:16 PM) How can you go to bank and place for promo FDs on Sunday? Banks are close unless you are located in Kelantan, Terengganu and those states. And I don't think one can get promo rates online. As AmBank True's "ambassador" i am surprise you didn't know that Ambank do have weekend banking on first and last Saturday/Sunday of every month in different states? Branches Locator I have told you many times, always check before you post anything online to avoid yourself from being embarrassed This post has been edited by Ah SiAnG: Oct 31 2015, 01:39 PM |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Nov 2 2015, 03:19 PM) Doing FD Musical Chair today (also tomorrow). bbgoat any flyers from CIMB? would like to update at page 1 In UOB Penang Kelawai Rd branch. Went to the PB centre. So bypass the normal customer service counter which have to go to first before going to their counters for various transaction. gsc has reported this a short while ago. Which is kind of troublesome as a person has to go to 2 counters. So UOB Penang PB counter solved this issue. Quite a number of uncles and aunties up there in the first floor. While waiting, the PB service desk received calls like non stop asking about the latest FD rate. UOB 12 mth rate up to 4.25% until end Dec. (will attach the flyer later). Met with my RM and got stuck for minutes. Went to CIMB to place FD. Before I went, already called to enquire about the rates. For 100k, said 4.2%. Said people getting higher, then the lady asked for amount. Later said can get 4.3% for 12 mths. When I was there asked for even higher rate, the RM said 4.2% to 4.3% can get immediate approval. For higher rate need HQ approval. She will call me later to confirm. Process in CIMB is super fast. Few minutes only. Already have acct in another CIMB branch. This branch said no need to open another acct as can use the other acct. End of Part 1. |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Nov 2 2015, 08:21 PM) Officially CIMB 12 mth is 4.2%. Getting to 4.3% probably need to ask. To 4.35% need approval from HQ. Did not ask or get flyer. Tomorrow will likely place another one (4.35%) there, already talk to the RM this evening. The 4.35% need some higher amount of principal. Will see if there is official flyer but likely to show 4.2% 12 mths. What about the minimum amount of fresh funds? and when will the promotion ends?Appreciate if you would update us if you have the official flyer Then I will update at page 1 This post has been edited by Ah SiAnG: Nov 2 2015, 08:32 PM |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Nov 4 2015, 07:43 AM) Uncle, student or HNWS, whatever ! I think your thinking is too simplistic : Don't give free money to the banks ! Why humans are different ? A lot of individuality in us ! There are even people having FD's in CB which gives board rates and staying happily as their PB, uncles and aunties. Some of the forummers have gave their opinions on this topic, learn from it ! You can shout about your slogan, but others may do differently ! QUOTE(yygo @ Nov 4 2015, 07:48 AM) yea, service from the bank is important and not everyone have the time to go to different banks to place their deposit under promotional rate.p/s: Maybe he should change his slogan from "don't give free money to the banks" to "maximize the interest earned from your fixed deposit?" in my opinion, that sounds better |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Nov 4 2015, 08:04 AM) I actually added 2 more sentences in my earlier post, you may have missed it: You are right! Why humans are different ? A lot of individuality in us ! There are even people having FD's in CB which gives board rates and staying happily as their PB, uncles and aunties. Different reasons that people use a particular bank. Don't second guess if I will stay with HL if they offer me 4.35%. "maximize the interest earned from your fixed deposit?" sound more mature and more grown up ! Usually if the rate doesn't differs much, I would prefer banks which are nearer to me or those having weekend banking. Besides, I love banks who can act fast when it comes to account opening. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 4 2015, 06:26 PM) Ah SiAnG - I updated my Fixed Deposit Page at my blog yesterday and just to share with all (what is not covered in your fantastic systematic easy to read Post#1&2): Thanks for informing Captain Gen-X 1) A reader of mine message me at Facebook that Maybank is having 2 moths FD Promo - 1st Month 3.8% and 2nd Month 4% and minimum Fresh Fund over the counter RM25K. I called my Maybank RM to reconfirm and she further confirm that the promo valid until end of Nov 2015. 2) Affin back is willing to offer me 4.2% for 12 months for my soon to be maturing FD with them. Therefore I no need go waste time transferring the funds here and there. Those of you who are new to this thread or my blog, many people including myself have always advised those who want higher interest rates to go talk to the Branch/Service/Operation/Relationship Manager. 3) As for UOB, once again if you are new to this thread and my blog, UOB have this thing called "Retention FD rates" where they will offer you slightly lower interest rates compared to their current FD Promo. Therefore, also saves one the time to transfer money here and there. However, in order to be eligible for the "Retention Rates" - make sure you talk to your RM before the FD matures and not after and ask him/her to backdate. This ""Retention FD rates" is good for me as I can give my RM instructions to renew my maturing FD before I fly off. 4) My Maybank RM really good, no need Fresh Fund to enjoy Promo FD rates, she will allow me to "roll over" my maturing Promo FD on the spot into their latest FD Promo QUOTE(michaelho @ Nov 4 2015, 06:36 PM) Ambank do offer 4.5%p.a. for 12 months now?Their website still mention 4.2%p.a. for 12 months This post has been edited by Ah SiAnG: Nov 4 2015, 07:29 PM |
