Cannot be la.. now bank taking fd with 4.2 4.3.. that is their cost.. they need operating cost.. and profit.. so justifiable to see 6% range for mortgage. Non collateral probably higher..

I am waiting for fd to be likr 1997 period.. 6-7% also.not bad la..

If 7% that means my fd will x2 in 10 years.. wow

FD rate won't go too high (more than 5%) without OPR hike.

You need OPR hike in order to see FD in the range of more than 5~6%.

If Fd offered rate is 6%, banks might as well resort borrow money from Klibor, instead of taking deposit from FD.

The gap of FD offered cannot go too far from the OPR/Klibor.

have to depends on when the fd goes that high up. if fd amount high, "loss" in interest while waiting for the fd rate is cry.gif

I also received the notice. Luckily last week Monday I withdraw one FD with 1 month auto renew and received the 1 month interest. biggrin.gif

I guess BR going to be less attractive to more and more people already. Their FD rate is no longer competitive with the big guys offering better rates than them. biggrin.gif

Is it confirmed MBSB is offering 4.5% pa for 18 mths (new customer)? If so, I think its a better deal than OCBC rite? Ok to go in?

If you are OK with no pidm, then it's ok. But ocbc is better. 12 months get 4.5%. Mbsb need 18 months.
