QUOTE(Nui Nui @ Oct 3 2015, 11:06 PM) Actually I suggest you get a WORKSTATION laptop to run youe Solidworks & Autodesk software as well. Since you are engineering student, you will need it in future. As I know in this market only got 2 brand "MSI" and "HP". but MSI workstation graphics card is Quadro K2100, K2200, K3100. but HP workstation is Quadro K750 only and price same with MSI workstation. Price sure around RM 9K - 12k. ...........

you can also take a look MSI PE60 or PE70. The spec is good enough for entry 2D design & gaming.
If you will do heavier work, like 3D or rendering, go for a workstation. This will help you a lots. Save you lots of time. If im correct, MSI has workstation too, if you dont prefer HP. Go and check the website, you will get more details.

Hey yungseng94, Those 2 software have alot of powerful uses and you might need to upgrade your budget a little bit though. If not then look for notebooks with quad core CPU's like Intel i7. MSI notebooks uses Intel i7 HQ models like i7-5700HQ or even i7-6700HQ on their newer notebooks with Skylake processors. Try to avoid CPU with M or U as these are more for lower power consumption. You will give up some performance. Later on you will need notebook with Quadro processor as your projects get bigger and more complex. Good luck with your search! As they are also quad core . MQ and HQ using same 47watt . How can it be low power cpu ? This post has been edited by xerox8908: Oct 21 2015, 10:48 AM

How can it be low power cpu ? yeah you're right. my mistake. Was actually referring to processors with U & M processors. MQ and HQ processors don't differ much at all. HQ CPU's only have a very minor performance advantage in the Intel HD graphic processing. thanks for spotting. (will edit previous post)
