my cousin has a maid that overstayed her visa and she wants to make arrangements to send her back herself as don't want her
to fall victim to unscrupulous agents..

Should she bring the maid directly to immigration with an air ticket?

What is the fine?

Home Ministry has appointed one agent IMAN to facilitate the return of Indonesian illegals.

Bring your maid there. First you buy her return ticket from IMAN. Tickets must be purchased from IMAN, otherwise the ticket will be rejected. After that proceed to register her with IMAN and pay RM822.80.

IMAN will arrange your maid to immigration ( on the same building ) to have the thumbs printed by an immigration officer.

Immigration will issue her a special pass with 14 days validity period and a check out memo. All these together with your maid's passport can be collected on the same day at around from 4pm onwards. If you do not wish to wait until 4pm, you can come the next day to collect on her behalf. She doesn't need to come again.

if say the maid's passport is in the hand of agent, she won't be getting her passport and how is she returning home even with the help of IMAN???

Ask your maid to bring along her Indonesia I/C, known as KTP (original) to Indonesian Embassy. The embassy will issue her a one way passport which valid for 6 months, this document is called Surat Perjalanan Laksana Paspor (SPLP).
The fee is only RM15. Go early in the morning around 7.00am, on normal days, she should be able to get her SPLP by afternoon.

Once she already obtain her SPLP, proceed to IMAN for further process. Bear in mind when an illegal returns to Indonesia by paying compound , he/she will be blacklisted from entering Malaysia for 5 years.
