Hi sifu Sekalian, I've been following this thread for a while and intend to invest soon. Considering I'm looking at overseas funds, would the current exchange rate affect my investment directly meaning that I would stand to gain more if I invested when myr becomes stronger?

No, it's the other way around.

Imagine this...

A shirt is worth USD100 then
U bought it by RM300 (USD1:RM3)

Now MYR WEAKENED
USD4.50:RM1

The shirt is still worth USD100
But in Ringgit, it is now worth RM450

Get your forex understanding right...

U want to buy foreign assets when Ringgit is strong
And u hope that Ringgit weakens AFTER u have already bought the foreign assets

What I'm concerned was that I would gain less if MYR becomes stronger after I invested my money. Thanks for the explanation smile.gif

Hmm I'm thinking of adding in RHB total return, should I hold and see how it turns out with this new news?
