Yes but the opposite will hold true as well, if the fund performance goes up , but the ringgit strengthen, it will cancel off each other.
*
yes,..it too can go any directions with any combinations (fund up, currency up) (fund up currency flat)(fund up currency down)(fund down currency up)(fund down currency down)(etc,.etc...
thus that is why I think FSM advises...
as per above article...

Hi all sifu, my current portfolio 50% RHB pre-ipo situation fund 3, 10% RHB global titan fund, 40% in cash management fund, any fund to recommend? thx in advance.
*
hmm.gif 50% locked in Pre IPO for 5 yrs. till 2020. thus I would not count it.
for me, what I will consider is 20% in GTF and 80% in CMF
wanna try dilute the CMF to?
30% in Asia X Jpn
15% in Global
15% in M'sia
20% in Bond
(these would be supplemented (or bit balanced) by your existing PRE IPO which is a Global fund with current unknown country/region of allocations with FSM highest risk rating of 10)

or try read this?

I read somewhere that if we want to enjoy the new member benefits of 1% SC but haven't decided on what fund to invest into we can put our money into money market first then slowly transfer to equity fund later on.

Expiry time frame? How do I determine the time framework?

To put money into CFM has zero SC but when transfer money from CFM to Equity Fund will incur normal 2% SC right? How do I enjoy the 1% SC here? This is where the expiry time frame comes in place?
*
on that link...there are FAQs about a/c benefits...
ex...
Q: HOW DO I CHECK THE EXPIRY DATE OF MY ENTITLEMENTS?

and others.

Yes I aware of this expiration. But if this also apply to when I transfer from CMF to equity fund why do I need to transfer to CMF at the first place? I don't see the point here...I thought that I can transfer after the 1 month period but still enjoy 1% SC as long as I am using the CMF to buy.
*
then your thought about that is wrong....
btw,...yes,...why do you need to transfer into CMF in the first place? unless you want to consider the RSP which with CMF is easier?

So for money working + left idle, 5.7% is way below EPF standard of 6ish. So would it be better if put in EPF? Just for discussion purpose.

Good discussion.

Let's say you invest 5 years period. Average return you get 3%. Means something is wrong right? Would you liquidate everything and just put in EPF for better return? Or buy dividend stock? Or just lock in FD?

Like gambling, some people gamble for the sake of the thrill and don't care win or lose.

Unless you invest or punt stock for the thrill. Then what I said doesn't apply. If you want make money and you not doing a good job, better to let EPF do for you or FD with no risk right?
*
if you want to use EPF to invest...make SURE the returns can be at least 30% more than the ave returns of the past 3~5 yrs EPF pa returns ...else better consider EPF as FI funds.

yes,...if average is about 3% pa.....need to be frank and analyse WHY?
traded too often?
buy based on past performance?
FI too heavy?
too focused on a single country?
etc, etc....

better talk to the CIS if after 3yrs still at 3% pa...

We're talking about EXTRA money that could be put in EPF. Not money taken out to invest.
*
hmm.gif put in EPF is easy...
if/when want to take out...unless one is at certain age.....I think not that easy leh.
(suddenly your viet moi want to get married, your family want you to global travel with them,...etc, etc ...when one want extra money,..but locked in EPF...how?)

it will still need some time to get it out....ex letter of probate, letter of administrator etc, etc...king of stuff
just don't put too heavy in it...diversity....else if needed like....

My portfolio as of 24 Nov:

1) CIMB Global Titans (32%) - bought in April 2015 - up 8.56%
2) Ponzi 2.0 (29%) - bought in April 2015 - down 4.87%
3) Big Cap China (22%) - bought April 2015 - down 10.80%
4) Aberdeen Islamic (17%) - bought Feb 2015 - up 3.89%

Should I dump Ponzi 2.0?

if you dumped that...what is the replacement fund?
I think you needed an asia x jpn fund in yr portfolio....

Where is the market heading?
Indications are that the emerging-market selldown is coming to an end. But will it mean a revival for Bursa and other Asian exchanges?

WHEN asked about the future direction of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KL Composite Index (FBM KLCI), most investors and fund managers don’t really have an answer.

received an email saying EIB asia pacific shariah fund is going to be rationalized and soft closure by 1st february. currently my fund is negative value, should i switch/redeem or wait until it goes positive? not sure if there's any possibilities to go up 🤔
*
should i switch/redeem?
hmm.gif just focusing on intra switching may not be a good idea...sometimes redeem and buy into another fund(s) that compliment your portfolio is better. Some people may even want to "cabut" now and wait for the FED rate decision before coming back in.

or wait until it goes positive?
you only have 2 months to recover to positive from the current negative.
only you know about value of that negative numbers.........do you believes it will in 2 months?
you have until 1st Feb...try to analyse to determine what funds are needed in your portfolio and start to prep your mind into it.

not sure if there's any possibilities to go up ..
yes that is correct,...especially when you only have 2 months time frame.

can...like he said you need to be good with the bank staffs, or become the preferred/ priority banking customers.
Then the branch will be willingly to try for you.

Got one Chinese guy in the thread can catch few hundred thousands within a month with his preferred bank, and he has been doing it for years.
*
hmm.gif "IF" I worked for the bank....
would I do that for the VIPs?
(what is in it for me?)
(I think that FP fund has NO SC...am I right?)
If that product is really that good.....I had family members that had that kind of monies and too....(That exclude the other staffs of the bank and their family members).
why not I go in my self or they go in them selves?
What if, after I place order for that VIP and by accidents he did not turn up in time.....how?
even in FSM they needed to see the money in their a/c 1st before buying in for platinum status holder.
hmm.gif just thinking....
