I'm still a bit confused with the concept of investing through fundsupermart vs UT agent/Bank.

My understanding is that if I invest through UT agent/Banks, the fund manager will take care of everything, I don't have to worry about changes in market or when to sell and buy, etc etc..and the cash will accumulated over years, and I get more money than I initially invested. After 3-5 years.

However, some of you guys here are making a lot more money in only few months (maybe) than someone who go through agent and had to wait few years.

I read in a blog somewhere that he is generating 15k a month. How is that possible?

How is UT long term investment if people can make thousand of cash in only weeks/months?
*
Let's say someone invested 500k in UT. One month later the fund goes up 3%. If he takes profit, he earns 15k.

If you invest through agent, I suppose he/she does not tell you to take quick profit. Your money will stay invested for 10 years or more.

BTW, when someone tells you how much he earns in very short time, be very skeptical.
1. He does not tell you how much his initial capital was.
2. He does not tell you the instances when he lost the gamble.

Fund A 5k.  Fund B 5k.

6 months later.
Fund A 5.5k. Fund B 5.1k.

Most direct.
Sell Fund A 200 bucks. Buy Fund B 200 bucks.
Now it becomes
Fund A 5.3k. Fund B 5.3k.
*
Alternatively, save 400 and buy Fund B.
Now you have: Fund A 5.5k, Fund B 5.5k.

I am risk-aversive. But I have been investing in stocks and equity funds.

Why? Because I know what I am doing.

Forget what people say about risk appetite. If you have the necessary knowledge and your conditions are right (e.g. you don't need the invested money in 5 years), you can take risk... calculated risk.

xuzen, thanks. So we should set a target of profit say 15% from a particular fund and then sell to rebalance out funds. Am I right?
If it is profitable, why sell?
*
Different people, different strategies. I guess you must be confused now.

I tell you what; give yourself one year, try out Xuzen's strategy. See if it works for you.
If it doesn't, change to Pinky's strategy.

To be sure, this article is more relevant to stock investment.

We know glove makers and construction companies benefit from the budget, but which funds have large holdings of these stocks?

For those who are holding / plan to invest in RHB ATR, but are concerned with the VSS exercise, here are some more news to frighten you tongue.gif

Marc Faber’s advice that investors should pay attention to China’s "epic" debt bubble and its manufacturing slump is borne out in charts that show a surge in troubled commodity and industrial companies.

Companies with less cash than short-term debt, net losses and contracting revenue have jumped to 200, according to the filings through June 30 compiled by Bloomberg from firms listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

“We expect more defaults, especially in overcapacity industries such as steel, coal and chemicals," said Tang Yue, credit analyst at Industrial Securities Co.

China bond defaults are forecast to climb after a state-owned steelmaker missed an interest payment, raising questions about the government’s commitment to stand behind such firms.

Sinosteel Co failed to pay interest due Tuesday [20 Oct 2015] on 2 billion yuan (US$315mil) of 5.3% notes maturing in 2017 after saying it will extend the deadline as it plans to add a unit’s stock as collateral. That came after the National Development and Reform Commission planned to meet noteholders and ask them not to exercise a redemption option on Tuesday to force full repayment, people familiar with the matter said last week.

Hi all
can you help a newbie in fund supermart? I'm using Chrome browser.

I just purchased 1 new initial investment worth Rm1000, through FPX / Public Bank.

There was a popup window and everything went to the end of 4 steps and in the end I just logged out from that window.

However the initial window still refreshing and in the it kinda times out and says the transaction failed. Importantly moneys have been deducted from my bank account.

I suppose this is normal?

Update more details
So I made the transactions after 3pm and it is stated as pending. Am I good or do I need to call for help?
*
I also have similar experience with FPX, but iFast did receive the money.

Status pending is normal.
