QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 13 2015, 01:34 PM) You picked H170 so you can just go for non-K CPU, which saves you some money. So u mean go to Skylake upgrade? LGA1151 Gigabyte GA-H170-D3H RM488.00 Intel Skylake Core i5-6500 4 core 4 thread RM 855.00 Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB RM199.00 AVEXIR CORE SERIES 8GB (2X4GB) DDR4 2400MHZ RM269.00

I'm thinking going from Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1231 v3 to Skylake i7 6600 non K for long term upgrade
Any comment about this pair?

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 21 2015, 01:20 PM) Can try to ask and see what's the reply. Ok but you won't be able to utilize the speed of the RAM, it will be downclocked to 2133MHz due to chipset limitation. Then i will change mobo to GIGABYTE GA-Z170-HD3 SOCKET 1151 MAINBOARD RM599 to full utlizie 2400mhz speed

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 21 2015, 01:39 PM) Upgrade the board to Z170 just to utilize the small increase of speed (+267MHz in your case) isn't really worth the money. Get at least 3000MHz, more worth in value and faster in video rendering if you really want to use RAM with speed > 2133MHz. Of course you can overclock the 2400MHz RAM to 3000MHz but not recommended due to high temperature and voltage needed, you need to tweak the timings stuff to make it work too. Its better 4GB x 2 DDR4 3000mhz or 8GB x 2 DDR4 2400mhz?
