Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 517
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 246
Leadtek GTX750 2GB GDDR5 WinFast - RM 485
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 2210 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

You can save roughly RM 250 if you downgrade to Haswell (4th gen) i3, the build above is using latest Skylake (6th gen) i3.
*
if downgrade, will there be a significant drop of performance?

& lets say i want only 500gb of HD..how much is the new cost?

For some reason, i5-4460 is RM679 at Viewnet right now. It is cheap if you wanna spend extra for that. Worth the cash when comparing with newer i5 price.
*
ok will take a look on that! thanks again smile.gif

hmm.gif It's showing as RM779 for me, price list is the 16th november update.
That GPU is the weak point of the build. Don't expect to run The Witcher 3 on 1080p. Go with TristanX's or terence_nwb's suggestion. Parts these days are expensive due to GST & weakening of the currency. Before, an i5 + R9 270 below 2K was possible. doh.gif

yeah damn it obama! tongue.gif

hm. is there any 'just nice' graphic between mine, your suggestion and terence's? bcoz i'm ok if can play game at least at med setting..no need to ultra graphic hehe

The graphic card is crap.I suggest at least GTX750 or R7 260 for 1280x1024.

*
1280x1024 is my old flat monitor..if others can come cheap, may consider buy an under rm200 monitor hmm.gif

& some suggest that AMD gpu doesnt run well with Witcher 3. Is it true?

i3 has better single core performance even though it is only dual core, most of the Intel out perform AMD CPU even though cores are lesser, don't judge performance by just looking at the core offered. A

And why you need quad core CPU? Any heavy workload or gaming there?

Witcher 3 is packed with Nvidia GameWorks, which holds back the performance of AMD card, but they (settings) can be disabled completely if I am not mistaken, but so far quite a lot of titles released this year are having issue with AMD card, if you want performance out of the box, go for Nvidia card, it is safer at least.
*
Just gaming and a bit of simulation software (ANSYS). So Nvidia is the safest choice that run well for most games right? thanks

Yes, at least you have day 1 driver support and better performance without tweaking any settings, but drawback is more expensive than the same tier AMD card.
*
thanks for the info..

one more question, is it more expensive to buy parts gradually eg cpu on january, gpu on february etc or buy all parts once at a time

If buy all parts at once, you might be able to get some discounts from the shop, but price will be according to current market's price.

If you buy separately in each month, there are some possible situations, first is MYR continues to drop and price will increase next year, second is MYR strengthen against USD, price might be cheaper. If buying separately, high chance there isn't any discount unless the seller is very kind to you  laugh.gif
*
as a first timer building a rig, i dont think i have cable anywhere to seller community sweat.gif

yeah hope that the RM wouldnt fall lower..was in a meeting yesterday with client, they talking about the US gonna introduce interest rate so that the RM would depreciate worse..(not sure what does that means, not a finance/business background)

Maybe I would buy the most expensive part first, eg CPU.. maybe there can establish me as a proven or potential buyer in long term hehe

CPU, Graphic card and RAM (DDR4) is good start
*
yes..probably in that order

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Nov 24 2015, 12:32 PM)
If you are thinking of getting Intel Skylake CPU then go just ahead because Intel won't release new gen CPU so soon, if others then you need to consider the timeframe, some might have new products incoming soon, if you don't mind getting obsolete hardware, then either way is fine.

not familiar with the generation of cpu..haswell, skylake, only heard about this when i read this thread sweat.gif
