Hi guys, I would like to assemble a new computer mainly use of in daily life workstation, entertainment, film, sometimes playing some middle to high end gaming 3D games.

[Budget] RM 4000- 4500

[Purpose] workstation, middle to high end gaming 3D games.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] – Keyboard and Mouse

[Monitor resolution] 1920*1080 or above

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Diablo 3, Company of Heroes 2, starcraft 2 and some 3D game like Assasin's creed series, Tomb Raider

[Personal preferences] Casing prefer likely coolermaster + CM 690 II Plus, I am non- overclock prefer

Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 are open world games, so they are pretty demanding on CPU part, with your budget, you cannot fit an i5 and GTX960.

The cheapest GTX960 is around RM 810 (Zotac Single Fan version), add Haswell i3 + cheapest H81 mobo + 8GB RAM, total up is around RM 1700 already, HDD, PSU and casing not yet added, so in conclusion your budget cannot get GTX960 or R9 280X just yet, you need to save more money.

And yea, if you don't have a monitor now, prepare at least RM 3000.

Can you suggest me a good version of GTX960 with max budget RM950?
I heard that Zotac is loud..And Leadtek is not bringing in more supplies for GTX960.

MSI Tiger or Gigabyte Windforce OC (Dual Fan version), should be around RM 920+/-.

And about cooler, stock cooler should be fine but if you insist to get a cooler then you can try Cryorig H7, CM Hyper 212X etc, but I still think stock cooler will do the job just fine for locked i5, save the money for future upgrade or other purpose is better in my opinion.

2GB or 4GB doesn't matter right?

If i stretch my budget enough to buy i5 6600k + with Gigabyte Windforce OC, I can go for the cooler since for OC yea?
This will be my first overclocking though..

It does matter actually, more games are utilizing > 2GB now.

If not heavy usage or workload like rendering, getting overclockable rig won't benefit you much now since locked i5 speed is fast enough.

4K budget cannot fit i7 and GTX980 at the same time, need 4.5K at least (reuse your current RAM and SSD will be excluded).

Since you are going to reuse your DDR3 RAM, I'll go with Haswell build because using DDR3 RAM on Skylake mobo will damage the memory controller due to higher voltage according to reports, if you don't care/mind then go with it.

If you have budget then why not

Get more RAM also if you render a lot, otherwise some software might use all your available 8GB RAM during rendering and your PC will slow down like a snail.

Since you are going for unlocked i5 + Z170, maybe you can go for locked i7 + H170/B150, it is cheaper or about the same price but you get extra 4 threads compared to i5.

To OC the gpu, we don't need to use Z mobo right?
Can you suggest me the ideal rig for i7?

Yes, GPU oc can be done with normal board.

If you accept old gen CPU (Haswell 4th gen), then you can get i5 with some top up (around RM 100+), performance difference between Haswell and Skylake (6th gen) is not huge, but Haswell i5 (quad core quad thread) is definitely the clear winner here if compared to Skylake i3 (dual core quad thread), i5 is faster for AutoCAD too.

Add roughly RM 50+ for Logitech Keyboard + Mouse combo if you need it.

Since the price of this GTX960 is over 1k, you can consider the R9 380/R9 380X 4GB, price is around the same but it is slightly faster than GTX960 in terms of raw performance. Or alternatively you can add RM 500 for MSI Tiger GTX970, almost twice the performance of GTX960.
