Totally fine, add more casing fans or get 3rd party cooler only if you are not satisfied with the temperature or when you think the stock cooler is just too noisy for you.

X4 860K is tier 3 CPU for now, you will have better performance with Intel Core i3 (tier 2) at about the same price.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1350
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 3062 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

You can top up another RM 130 to get a non-reference GTX970 (Zotac is the cheapest from Techview) which runs cooler than reference card.

Sifu-sifu,

Wanted to upgrade my CPU & Mobo.

I'm currently using as below, and the CPU is bottlenecking my GPU (GTX 670) manage to OC till 3.8Ghz but the bottleneck is still there. Any suggestions ?

MSI MS7599 870-G45
Phenom II X4 955BE with HYPER 212+

Would really loved to use my CPU long-term (So that its still suitable for better GPUs in the future)

Budget around 1 - 1.5k, should I get an aftermarket cooler as well ?

Any specific brand for GPU that is better than others? The answer is depend on your luck, even those expensive "premium" brands like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte also have chance to fail/problem in just few weeks/months time, so just get the one with longest warranty period, like Zotac, 5 years warranty.

Your budget can fit SSD so no need to spend at SSHD, the 8GB SSD in SSHD doesn't really bring any significant speed improvement.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 ZT-90101-10P - RM 1479
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 409
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
Seasonic S12II 620W - RM 349
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 4174 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Can fit Skylake with 3K budget without monitor but SSD has to be dropped out, else will over budget.

If you want to adopt to latest Intel Skylake DDR4 platform,

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289

Total: RM 1573 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Stock cooler runs fine, if temperature is not satisfied, only get 3rd party cooler.

Thanks for the reply bro,

I'm actually planning to OC my CPU in the future in the event where it's getting outdated and started to bottleneck. Also I'm in favor of an ATX mobo too. What are my other options ? Is it going to be worth it upgrading to Skylake ? or should I stick to Haswell ?

If you are planning to go for OC build, you need to increase your budget, the unlocked i5 costs more than RM 1000 now and the cheapest Z170 ATX board is going to cost you RM 700+, new pair of DDR4 RAM is around RM 300+/-, if you don't have a 3rd party cooler, you need to prepare extra budget for it too because Skylake "K" series CPUs do not come with stock cooler.

Price difference for Haswell and Skylake is not huge but of course Haswell will cost you less money, you can consider Haswell if you are ok with last gen hardware, and Haswell is being phased out now, if you want Haswell, better act fast before it is too late.

And about OC the CPU in the future when it starts to bottleneck, OC can help a little, but not much when it hits the limit, just like what happen to your current CPU, if budget is tight, just go for a locked i5, it can sustain for few years before showing bottleneck symptoms and by the time it shows bottleneck symptoms, you already have the funds to upgrade it, this is more cost effective in my opinion.
