Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 3, MSI Z170A Gaming Pro, ASRock Z170 Extreme 4 etc.

As for GPU, you can go for AMD R9 390 if you wish to have more VRAM, otherwise you can look for Zotac or Palit GTX970 if you want to maintain at 1.5k price point.

So I'm still undecided on the m-itx I'm building and I'm trying to spend as little as possible on it because it will be for media and very light gaming purposes only. sweat.gif

I just remembered that I have a i5 2500 CPU from my previous computer that hasn't been used for over a year. Is it feasible to recycle that to save money?

If so, can I have a MoBo and PSU recommendation? Also thinking of sticking a wifi card and GT730 in it. Thanks again.

Corrected: m-itx instead of m-atx.

You still have your old PC with you? If yes, then is the mobo available to reuse? If no then new LGA1155 mobo is quite hard to find nowadays sweat.gif

If you go for Skylake (6th gen) system, the iGPU of Skylake is quite powerful and is able to handle casual gaming (stronger than GT730, almost equivalent to GT740/R7 250) so you can skip the GPU (save money nod.gif )

Sorry for asking, If I'm already using Skylake but wanted to buy standalone GPU for budget <RM500, izzit worth it? Only play dota 2 and normal browsing & full hd videos.

If you want to run at max settings 1080p in Dota 2 then Skylake iGPU may not be able to satisfy you in terms of frame rate, for RM 500 you can get PowerColor R9 270 (around RM 530) or Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB (around RM 510), these 2 cards can max out Dota 2 easily.

Do you think it's necessary to get a monitor? Is there a possible chance that the monitor can't be supported by the new pc ?

Yeah I have my old MoBo but it's an ATX MoBo though. I'm looking for a build that can fit a Cooler Master 110 or even better, Silverstone SG13. The smaller the better. rclxms.gif

I'm thinking of getting a modular PSU so I can have shorter cables but getting one severely jacks up the price..... sweat.gif

As for skylake's iGPU, doesn't the G4400 have Intel HD 510? How much worse is it compared to Intel HD 530??

It's all depend on you, if you are ok with current screen size and resolution, then just stick with current monitor.

As long as your monitor has at least a display input, it can be paired with any modern GPU either via direct connection (e.g. HDMI to HDMI) or converter (e.g. HDMI to DVI).

CM Elite 110 and Silverstone SG13 are mITX form factor, not mATX (you mentioned you want to build mATX).

mITX mobo is expensive, expect > RM 500 but it comes with internal WiFi card so you don't have to spend extra money to get WiFi card/adapter.

HD 530 is around 75% faster than HD 510.

Don't think you can any new mITX mobo for your i5 2500 now, so maybe you can sell it off and add the funds into your budget.

If light usage then Core i3 is enough.

Intel Core i3 6100 + Gigabyte H170N-WiFi + 8GB DDR4 RAM + 1TB HDD (if needed) + FSP Hexa+ 400W + mITX case of your choice, the estimated total price is around 1.5k+.

If you want modular PSU then you need to add another RM 200+/-, if you go with Silverstone mITX case, you might need SFX PSU which is even more expensive, if you pick CM Elite 110 then you can go for Seasonic M12II EVO series or Superflower Leadex.

It looks like SG13 can fit a regular PSU into it but it has to be modular. Maybe it'll be fine since I won't be putting a GPU in it after all. Gonna have to rethink this setup.

I know the FSP budget units are pretty good but are their modular PSU's reliable too? sweat.gif Their 500w modulars are going for around RM200+

FSP modular at RM 200+? You mean Hyper M? It is semi modular, not fully though.
