Pirlo's free kick is a bit similar to Beckham's, so it definitely bends if not much. i think the right example would be Roberto Carlos's free kicks. some of his were definitely straight and not curled. but honestly, i never heard about Mukaiten before this.

Roberto Carlos's free kick never spins the ball coz he hits the ball with so much force, all the force power is transfered throughout the whole ball .... and catching that kinda ball will break your fingers.
Think this is power shot, the ball struck at it's centre rather than the sides where one would kick to make it bend. As theripper mentioned, Roberto Carlos is the best example of doing such shots, 30 yards and up. Clarence Seedorf, Gabriel Batistuta also can do shots like these, the shots don't bend, but "move" in the air, making it's trajectory unpredictable.

oh yer.. i forgot Pirlo's dead ball are all dipping... lose momentum halfway and the ball dipped down into the goal. damn good

true...this is what i mean....... it move in unpredictably in the air.
and owh....players beside those already said here who does this shoot are like...Rosicky, Juninho, Lahm(maybe him, cant remember)
Mukaiten simply means... MU=NO KAITEN=spin
meaning...No spin
Nice technique huh.. what about Cristiano Ronaldo ? His free-kick goal against Portsmouth, a wonderful shot by him.. the ball did not spin & only moves around with power to confuse David James

but he does this oni once (oni once that is memorable to me) thats why i didnt say his name.
but i remember this kick. cant remember against what team though. thanx for reminding.
the ball literally moving from left to right and then left again in mid air.
but cant see it that well fom the you tube video.
Hehe.. welcome.. sorry for the bad video though, i couldn't find any other websites.. I googled it cuz it was a very memorable goal.. he used Mukaiten technique as u said.. the ball moved unpredictably with 100% power.. the goal was against Portsmouth.. early November i suppose.
It moves in the air, and the ball does not spin or rotates.
Juninho does it well, Ronaldo too, in the vs world XI game, and a screamer in the porto game.
To hit the ball, it usually requires a straight run up to the ball, and "slice" it. It's a difficult technique, but once "kena" .. no chance for the keeper.
