Im concern about the amoled screen... Its the first time huawei come with amoled izzit...bit sceptical about that...anybody got any idea who supplies the amoled panel this time...

Last time moto n6 got amoled burn issue just a few month of usage.... Hope its not the case this time..

That's around RM2224 at least for the Nexus 6P 32GB with the current exchange rate.
Not worth it IMO. The Note 5 is only slightly more expensive but you get 4GB RAM, a better camera and stylus functions. Also, Huawei doesn't have the known reliability of Motorola, Samsung and LG.

It might be one of the best but it beats the purpose and core points of the Nexus. Nexus phones are meant to be good phones without all the gimmicks. That shouldn't cost more than 2k. Being a Chinese make phone puts it in direct competition with the 1+2 and that is below RM1800 for the 64GB version. The >2k league is just not a good place to be in for a Nexus.

Seriously this statement is a joke "so, Huawei doesn't have the known reliability of Motorola, Samsung and LG."
I had used several HW phones, many Samsung n 3LG n my personal assessment HW reliability n build quality is one of the best if not the best

I like to think of this phone as the new huawei flagship which replace the mate 7...this way it all make sense... Qualcom soc, manageable footprint size, clean os, decend size battery... The question now is the price..all and all, if i think it as the mate 7 replacement... Its a good phone...its an upgrade from mate 7 to say the least.... But for a new nexus... Hmm..

Watching last night's announcement and reading the subsequent hands on, I'm getting more convinced that this should be my 'upgrade' from the OnePlus One.

However, my main concern is the SD810 which is known to be hot and throttles performance. Even if they can dissipate the heat well, performance suffering is kinda not worth it.

I did try to pre-order from the US/UK/JP Google Stores last night. Added some extra USD/GBP 30 for shipping costs to Malaysia (my own personal estimate) and found that JP costs a LOT for 32GB (2.8k). US has the cheapest offering amongst all (2.2k ~ 2.5k).

Anyways, if anyone wants to read the impressions:

I had experienced the S810 chip on One Plus Two and MI NOTE Pro - both phones DOESN"T overheat at all. I supposed this overheat issues were just initial reports when chip was released

Watching the live stream on Youtube and Ars Technica and several rumor post before the event, Both Nexus devices got me worried.

I don't know if it's either their specs was made to have users fully use its Google Play services which explains why there's no removable battery and microSD card slot which is not ideal for us power user. Or it was intentionally made to fullfill US phone standard (Apple obviously).

Nonetheless, it looks like 5x and 6p would be great for people who can afford large data plan and not worry about storage and stuff. But for me, it turns me off on some aspect, and made the nexus 5 and 6 a better alternative.

What about performance? Overheating may have been countered with the heat spreader or so. sweat.gif

I read somewhere if you want LTE compatible in malaysia, don't order from USA and Japan. Only order from UK. However, the cost is the highest due to £ exchange rate.

Personally for me the overall performance is good . As for gaming , no comments as I don't do gaming on my phones
However between the two, my choice is on the MI Note Pro instead of the overhype One Plus Two : the MI Note Pro is slicker, smoother, nicer audio quality, with nicer display and much faster camera snap and better pictures

I reviewed the spec sheet before I decided to try to pre-order. Both Global and American models have our LTE bands. So there's not much to worry this time around. They're trying to make a 'Global' phone like the Moto X Pure/Style and N6 previously.

Oh sorry just checked again and yeah no removable battery and sdcard support for them. I meant it would be a better alternative in terms of pricing, but other alternatives would be lg g3, g4 or even other branded phone.

The 5x if priced at <RM1200, will be a good buy. Otherwise, there's just too many competitors from China for this spec. I consider 2GB RAM as a mid range device although the 808 SOC is yesterday's champion.

Ctrl + F 'Malaysia' and you will see that both models have the LTE bands that we need.

Short answer: YES! rclxm9.gif That is why it was very hard for me to hold myself back from clicking order.

Many N6 users here are using the USA imported version. Initially there was doubts about compatibility but proven such doubts were wrong
As long it supports lte band 3 n 7 it should be fine here

Not as easy as you think.... You need to factor in sirim cost $100 and another 6% GST on the invoice cost. For the minuscule saving, I'd prefer to just get from, techbug

Finalizing my color choice for 64gb and casing before conforming my order with techbug

I believe my previous SIRIM permit for the OPO is valid for 3 devices? Does that mean it's for the same model or different one?

Mate7 has a free new replacement in first year. This was specifically highlighted on launch day which I attended. Did you ask for it as few Mate7 users got free replacement. The last user reported his 10 month old set he got it within 2 hours. HW will not repair any defective set in year one. Point reconfirmed back to me by their marketing manager after few months phone launched n I was asked to reconfirm this point.

*
Huawei - swapped the unit -2 days but with lots of irritating questions even though it really failed by itself.
Samsung -
1. replaced mobo - 3 days but it was my fault (Of course I didn't tell them what I did).
2. Replaced faulty charger - 10 minutes

I doubt the nexus 6p will get a 1 to 1 replacement program like the Mate 7

Waiting for some reviews would be the right way but I'm a damn Google whore and supporter that I just have to get a nexus. Still prefer them stock android experience and with a better camera, as claimed this time, I'm in.

Anyway, the nexus 6 camera ain't that bad. Took it with me to Japan and took some breath taking shots. On underexposed pictures, simply edit it with default photo app, click on the magic wand and it turned out beautiful.

For night shots, just have HDR+ on,

Oh sorry just checked again and yeah no removable battery and sdcard support for them. I meant it would be a better alternative in terms of pricing, but other alternatives would be lg g3, g4 or even other branded phone.

These phones lack what the NEXUS series offer - quick updates on latest Google firmware and numerous roms/kernels flash-ability options. This is always the reason why I would like to buy a Nexus

Price as per his site. NO extra costs for delivery in M'sia. If you choose payment by credit card or paypal - usually extra charge 3, 5% respectively. I supposed he will cover all Sirim/GST charges . My previous N5 purchase I pay exactly as he listed

The >2k league is just not a good place to be in for a Nexus.

nexus 6p looks nice and great, but the price is quite off (and thanks to depreciation of ringgit also, but alas, note5 with current ringgit value only a tad more expensive).

Everyone has their own preference. Note 5 is launched locally and Samsung has major presence all around the world. Huawei partnered with Google to build a Nexus phone.

Nexus products are in a different class because they are there to show off the SOFTWARE. Samsung is more for the hardware. They are improving on software but can never be on par with the Nexus because of the "1st-in-line" tag for Nexus-es. This hasn't been the case because I believe this year there was a case where Lollipop was launched for the Motorola phone (I can't remember clearly) first before a Nexus but previously, yes, Nexus = #1 in line for updates.

As for the price, you're comparing products that have to be bought directly from the US and shipped over. With our increasing exchange rate (depending on when you click the buy button, your credit card will charge a different rate), these Nexus phones WILL be more expensive than the Samsungs for a while. Samsungs on the other hand have the luxury of bulk buying (one exchange rate for a stock of 10k or more?) between their entities to sell to the local distributors and probably discount on shipping and whatever other charges. Nexus phones, unless launched here, do not.

Just look at the Nexus 6. It was what, around RM 2.6k(?) when DirectD brought it officially through Brightstar. Now that the 6P has launched, the price is RM 1.4k or so. It's really simple, if the phone is not to your liking, say so and move on. No one is shoving it down your throat to buy it.

I am not a fan of any brands - I had used before Samsung , HTC, Nexus, Sony, LG, Acer, Asus, Nexus, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo etc
Each brand has their own unique pro n cons
However Samsung seems to be a brand many hate but yet many want to buy
These days my purchase will be constrained by :
- display size , minimum is 5.5 inch prefatably 6 inches
- minimum 2gb ram
- minimum 64gb storage if no ext sdcard support
- chipset unimportant Eg I even find HW default chipset is good enough, R7+ Sd615 midrange is good enough. I don't play games so great powerful performance unimportant
- Battery size minimum 2500 mAh
- display type unimportant but given a choice prefer LCD instead of Amoled ( colors I find often too saturated n bright)
- camera : decently good n speedy is sufficient. I am just a simple point n click guy. MP not too concerned over it
I had yet to find my BEST smartphone ( which doesn't exist ) n closest to excellent will be Note5 n LG G4

I think I'm gonna skip this year's nexus 6 as well, as I did with last year original Nexus 6. Apart from the not-very-wallet friendly price, my biggest gripe for 2 years in a row is with the design. The original N6 has the infamous unsymmetrical/abnormal front bezels, fortunately they fixed that in the N6P. But the back is just hard for me to look at, don't know why they choose to put Cyclops' visor on there. On top of that, the camera & stuff placement is not in the ideal place for me.

Though, if I ever change my mind, I'd definitely pick the black version. It tone down the unnecessary attention of that visor thing which is good for my OCD. lel.

My first China branded phone was Huawei Mate6.1. Was sceptical initially about HW but the fact they were the world's 3rd largest mobile phone sellers after Apple n Samsung encouraged me to test it out. I was not dissapointed n was impressed with it. Thereafter I followed up with mediapad X1, Mate7 n p8max. All these HW phones were indeed good. I had rated Mate7 as best 6 incher I had used vs Nexus6, XZU, Mega 6.3, HTC one max, LG GPro2.
My other china makes : oppo find7 n R7+. The R7+ has now taken the crown over Mate7
My recently acquired Xiaomi MI Note Pro was a much better phone vs my ex one plus two ( another China make)
It is indeed sad China brands are often look down. But seriously now those high end phones are no longer cheap just because is China branded or make in China.
It will take some years before China brands are recognize well
Google is not dumb to select HW as their partner without any deep research into their manufacturing capability n reliability.

If can, ask he to remove the phone from the packaging

So that he can say he is using the phone and not buy from overseas...

Asked my aunt in US, she said the cost to bring 32gb version here is around rm2500, not including sirim.

So, rm2850 from techbug is kinda reasonable if they settle sirim and provide a good warranty.

My brother is in the states and will be flying back this month. I'm thinking of getting him to buy a 6p back for my use. Is it as simple as buying in there and bringing it along with him on the flight? What complications should I look for? Sirim? Import tax etc etc? Thanks
*
No problem usually for 1-2 units. Just unsealed the box and take off phone packaging and if asked just said is for personal usage. Unlikely it will be hold by custom and if indeed hold apply Sirim permit ( RM 100) and pay 6% GST on phone invoice value. GST if brought in through courier company one will need pay directly to courier company . With personal bringing in, probably pay to airport customs ??
Buying sets from USA make sure is unlocked set and not tied to telcos

if note5 js slightly more expensive with better spec and at least in Malaysia hv better service support, why wanna consider china brand phone?

nexus 6p looks nice and great, but the price is quite off (and thanks to depreciation of ringgit also, but alas, note5 with current ringgit value only a tad more expensive).

We all should know Samsung infamous update plan.

I thought if you just checked in the phones in your luggage bag, you won't be asked about any of these questions right?

Nexus 6 don't have sd slot too

QUOTE(SonicSpyro @ Sep 30 2015, 04:04 PM)

Nexus was originally attractive due to cheapass pricing with good hardware. It's history now and no wonder that it no longer attractive as it once were.

you need to factor in inflation in terms of hardware, delivery cost, packaging etc + weakening of MYR/USD that makes the Nexus expensive.

of course if you earn USD, forking out US$500 is just peanuts.

Nexus 5 2013 with 32GB priced at $399

Nexus 5X - 2 years later with marginal increase to $429 factored in inflation rate, etc

It's not bcos of Google pricing. It's the damn ringgit value that hike up the price!!!

That's your ignorance of how a nexus device can be played around and its latest stock android experience

Chasing hardware spec is a endless game

For N6P to be priced starting from $499 with that kind of build material and tech spec, it is more convincing as compared to last year N6 which started with ridiculous price.

At least it's convincing to those not earning ringgit

It is true our continual plunging of the ringgit now makes this Nexus series and all other upcoming phones more expensive. Add in another 6% GST makes it worse ! I cannot imagine the Horror when the exchange goes to RM5 to 1 US$ !!!

True. I believe N5 owner can still be proud. Does 2013 hardware really matter that much?

But if people perceive like you, then different lo

Another HW non fan. Actually HW make very good phones. I had very good experience using Mate6.1, X1, Mate7 n P8max. As said earlier on Google isn't that dumb to give them the chance to manufacture the phone without detailed review of their capability n reliability. HW is world 3rd largest mobile maker after Apple n Samsung n you don't make lousy products to achieve that status.

That choice will solely depend on what features a buyer need in his smartphone
Buying decisions is not solely on pricing or brand only
Nexus line is more suitable for users who demand quick n fast update to firmware, less bloatware n its options to allow flashing of many alternative kernels or roms.

please don't compare direct convert price for nexus and local RRP for note 5. please consider you have to pay for postage and sirim or you have to pay premium price if you purchase from importer.

i think original note 5 is still cheaper than nexus 6p total cost.

s6 onwards (s6, s6 edge, note5) are good enough in terms of performance. in fact i rated my s6 and note 5 better than my nexus 6.

-First in-line for update
-Latest firmware update for 2 years or more
-Availability of custom rom/kernel
-Many support from dev
-clean stock android
-price

Nexus always been for Android enthusiast who love to flash custom rom/kernel, make the battery runs longer etc. That what makes Nexus brand special.

that's true, note5 bloatware reduced if compare with old gen. UFS and LPDDR4 help on boost performance for sure.....

truly agree.. how can by sampling a galaxy note 2 and straight away make assumption note 5 also bad?

Nexus always been for Android enthusiast who love to flash custom rom/kernel, make the battery runs longer etc. That what makes Nexus brand special.

I bought my mum the cheapest Huawei unit first time, 3C lite, and the quality of that phone is good for RM390+. Better than Samsung in terms of price that you pay for. If it were not for that, I for sure no confident to pick up Huawei brand.

Personally I find being first in line has pros and cons. That's why I always wait before updating a new version. After updating, you need app developers to keep up.

I got too excited with ios9 and updated 2 of my ipad. Luckily still left one able to watch astro on the go. Same goes for my nexus 10.

For fair judgement on the N6P pricing, compare it in USD also

Lg G4 was started with $699.99 when launched...don't even talk about note 4. You can check in amazon

The hard fact is how terrible the ringgit has depreciated resulting in this level of converted price (+ tax, shipping, import duty)

Gotta be fair to huawei

Nexus user has option whether to have stock android or custom roms. Average joe can enjoy what Google has to offer on how Android should look like. While people who loves to flash can enjoy other features roms/kernel. They can go back and forth. No restriction. Unlock bootloader.

When you choose for Nexus, you dont care about support. Because the phone will be flashed with new ROM.

Do you play with ROMs with ur Samsung the moment u purchased it?
*
so far Sony, Samsung, HTC, nexus phones/tablet that i used all rooted and installed custom ROM within 1st week.
the only didnt root, Padfone2 which is quite a hassle.
some do encountered hardware failure, but never failed yet to claim for the warranty during the period.
in terms of warranty support based on exp, i would rate Samsung > Sony > HTC.

in certain things, i do care about support.
the only china phone that i bought, mi4i for my sis. so far so good. cheap with pretty good spec.
now still considering to get Honor 7 (even recommend Honor 7 for few cousins) as extra. Why I'm considering it? above average spec at cheap price than other typical major brand.

Nexus 6p, for me, looks nice and premium. if this design with this spec but with Sony/Samsung/HTC brand, the price looks ok. brows.gif

if Huawei Malaysia bring in here officially with attractive/decent price, certainly will consider to buy smile.gif

Can the USA set be used here, since it also supports our LTE bands (3/5/7) ? Will it be crippled in any way compared to the "rest of world" spec ?

Short answer, yes, can be used here. I already checked. See my post below.

I reviewed the spec sheet before I decided to try to pre-order. Both Global and American models have our LTE bands. So there's not much to worry this time around. They're trying to make a 'Global' phone like the Moto X Pure/Style and N6 previously.

6P comes with near-ultrapixel camera sensor ( xiaomi at best also average camera quality ) 240fps slow mo etc.
Latest Samsung made AMOLED display ( no need explain )
Full metal body ( xiaomi at best also metal frame )
Latest Android version ( xiaomi are extremely slow in update Android, my mi3 with latest MIUIv7 still 4.4 KitKat )

The best XiaoMi phone ( Note Pro ) offered are ~USD480. Nexus 6P ( USD549 for 64GB ) are so much better value if compare like this biggrin.gif

Because 6P is not 'nothing but just a name'. It has good h/w ( new Sony camera, latest Samsung AMOLED panel, full metal build ) and latest s/w support from Google. Apa lu mau biggrin.gif

It's good value, USD499. Just our ringgit weak so everything looks to be expensive.

I was not referring to N6P if you look at my earlier posts sweat.gif

Agreed to your points. That's why I said earlier gotta be fair to huawei

Certain people not happy with this pricing coz their perception of brand name. If it's Sammy or LG product, then they are ok. Funny isn't it? To me, brand is just a name and shouldn't be used solely to judge a product

For me this is the best Nexus every produce based on specs per price. Great display, Camera supposedly great (but need full review first), fast processor (but was hoping SD 820 but meh), 3GB RAM (clean stock should not use much RAM but for 2K display it should be enough).

For me what great for N6P this time is the build quality. Based on first look video that I watched, main of em praised how N6P looks. Full aluminium body. The camera bump is not so bad. It would be great for skin accessories, dbrand and slickwrap. Dual front facing speaker which is great. Much better than any sides speaker. And fingerprint sensor. Big battery.

People always complain there's always something missing (battery, camera, build quality etc). But nothing much to complain for N6P I guess. Now people complain about the price. Like iPhone 6S which haven't been officially launch in Malaysia, price aren't reflect true retail price. It would be much cheaper when HW brings N6P officially and seller like Directd sells AP much cheaper. Just wait and see..

*
dont forget. people complain about the price is because the pricing in US is cheaper than other country. Previous years Google manage to make all pricing equivalent. for eg: 499USD = 499euro, which google still has extra around 30euros which is acceptable for most of them. but now is 699euro. clean 200euros extra!

i normally buy nexus from aussie.. since my family stays there. but to get 128gb n6p, the price is 1099aud, equals to RM3414. and i still have to pay for shipping to malaysia.

compare to if i buy from techbug, RM3299 and that one includes shipping, sirim, and their profits as well!

Not to forget that the best thing about a nexus is the smoothness and the support from both community and google. When that combined with good hardware, you usually can't go very wrong with it.

Still, I will wait for battery life review. not too worried about camera since it scored so high at DXOmark, but will still want to see some review from others.

On top of that, i will want to wait for first batch to see if there's any glaring problem with the phone. (The nexus 6 have the back cover problem.)

Price wise, i rmb nexus 5 is 349usd when it came out, but they have bad battery, camera and speaker, nexus 5 also uses plastic as material. so for 150 more, we get a top camera, big battery, double front speaker, metal body, finger print scanner, usb type-c, fast charge( 0-100% in 1hour 30min) it seems to me that it is very much worth it. biggrin.gif

My bad if I missed it.

I wont upgrade immediately ( unusual for a big Nexus fans biggrin.gif ) because my N6 actually holding nicely, my complaint are not so impressive SOT and slow camera ( which *might able to fix via new camera apps ).

De facto for how soon my upgrade are how good the SOT will be ( or maybe there's no good SOT sweat.gif ) then my money could be safe.

I think you meant our currency is too small or weak vs the major currencies of the world ??
It is just too bad it is so and the 4.4-4.5 range is expected to be so in the next 2 months. Will it go down below 4.3 in coming months ? No one really knows. Those who make money playing with currency will either make a big loss or profit. This exchange rate has make all phones more expensive already.

Of course it won't come down to 4.3 but to 4.7 at year end seeing the current situation.

The best way for smartphone lovers to catch up with the most recent phone releases is to earn USD.

There are many ways to earn USD in Malaysia.

Hmm.. not... Huawei are much more active than LG/HTC/Nokia/Motorola/Blackberry. You can image they bring all their model to Malaysia like P series, Mate series, even latest Android Wear. Look at their sub-branding.. Honor so good feedback in Malaysia... At least don't have to go through the evil distributor *cough* *cough*

Same speed in Honor 7, but if you carefully scan your fingerprint in most direction, the unlock could be faster and less error. I like the looks of fingerprint scanner on 6P more than squarish used on Huawei own brand.

Both same screen size 5.7". But I think overall 6P is slightly larger, but with much higher battery capacity, 3450mah as opposed to Moto X Style's 3000mah.

I don't mind if they make the top/bottom bezel bigger to accommodate that extra 450mah, I hope they have better front facing speakers as well to make use of that big space
it is also slightly less wider than nexus 6 which makes it easier to hold in portrait (can try holding an ip6+ coz both have almost similar dimension)

Agreed. And joining the club is ZTE devices too... My ZTE Nubia Z7 Max can continue making/receiving calls even when inside an elevator. Now testing the marvelous Honor 7 after owning Honor 3C.... Now, Huawei is well known for its blazing fast 2nd generation fingerprint scanner....

Personally for me I rate HW phones has the BEST gsm/lte lockup I had ever used vs say HTC, Samsung, LG, Asus, Sony, Motorola, Oppo etc. HW are master themselves in this and is world largest supplier to most telco in the world for their telecom equipment.

Thanks.

Now if only HW revise their selling price then im totally on board. Funny when a us$500 hw is selling at the same price as us$700 note 5 over here tongue.gif

Not sure if they develop the multi-windows themselves or recycling Google's one in M preview.

I order the 128gb Silver model...my second favorite color is black. Anyway the back color will end up unimportant as I always use a flipcase with the phone
Had been checking eBay but not much choice yet. Will get a flipcase from ebay for it.

Bro,

What's your view on the issue about the nexus 6p case that covers up the laser autofocus?

I've been looking around for the nexus 6p case on amazon but haven't seen product that specifically mentioned that it doesn't cover the laser autofocus.

So my only option is to buy one from the google store. Care to share your recommendations if any?

Not as pain as I thought it would be!
It's a really good price considering all it's spec.
I'll lock a deal right away if it's within 2.5k.
The Nexus 6P is like a dream come true for us all Nexus fans.
Now, just have to wait for the reviews.

Thinking getting Nexus 6 than Nexus 6P. Hahah. but it depend how fast huawei can bring in 6p into malaysia market with reasonable price.

what i see in the techbug website, the price is incredible high. the main cause is from our weak currency.

Luckily my previous seller of n5 was able to provide the service. But my n6, nope. Lazada just said nope. And directed me back to Motorola Malaysia, aka brightstar.

Plus local sales tax (depending on where they're located; NY/CA 9%) + service fee (11%) + paypal fee (3.9% + $0.30); since the only way to transfer money to them is thru paypal

Oh. And don't ever use XE currency converter. Bank's rate is always higher. Paypal's rate, even higher

So, good luck

Buy don't wait for Huawei Singapore official Price List? Since they mentioned confirmed bring in 64GB and 128GB, Silver and Black.

Oh well, I just saying only. whistling.gif Even mine OPO also bought through forwarding from US. So warranty is not my concern after all.

Not necessarily all MYR's fault I think. Google has price it too high internationally. Look at £ and €, or even AUD, I scratched my head so hard for that. US price so freaking much lower than the rest of the world. Wth, Google. Hopefully Huawei manage to price it below 2.6k. I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

But I kinda think it will be around RM2,899+- (64GB) given how it was priced in all other countries and how expensive Nexus devices was in Malaysia historically, look at Nexus 6 and 9.

Price in MYR Equivalent for NEXUS 6P 64GB. sad.gif

US - RM 2,272.86 [USD 549.00]
UK - RM 3,183.84 [GBP 499.00]
JP - RM 2,797.48 [JPY 80,800.00]
CND - RM 2,400.78 [CND 749.00]
AUS - RM 3,053.62 [AUD 999.00]
EUR - RM 3,300.31 [EUR 699.00]
HK - RM 2,675.03 [HKD 4,988.00]
KR - RM 2,657.68 [KRW 730,000.00]
SG - RM 2,816.45 [SGD 949.00]

cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

If MYR did not devalue so much shakehead.gif

We would have to be able to enjoy it at around RM2,000+-

Not really.

Snapdragon 810 devices are rm1.7k for 1+2 and below rm2k for Sony z3+
The price they are asking for 6p is more than what Samsung wants for its note 5

Probably their ads on mudah is before gst?
Saw few other ads on it for below 2k

And yes it probably an AP set.
But can always wait a few more days till the Z5 are launch.

Personally, probably getting somethings from Amazon has better warranty than Malaysian officials unit tongue.gif

The 128gb version seems competitively prices. The 64gb really overprice. 200 ringgit more is Ok now If only got a white versions I would totally drive down there myself and get the 128gb.

Not from US right?

So why need to compare RM to USD?

Huawei from where actually?

Not from US right?

So why need to compare RM to USD?

But wait, our RM is weak against all other currencies too.

The rage comes from the low price in US and high price in other parts of the world. Google comes from US hence we are comparing with USD. laugh.gif

25 GB really not enough. Better buy 64GB version.
If each movies = 2GB, not much space, let alone music + apps
If some store some porns inside like me, even not enough.

Supply issues seemingly forcing Google to delay the launch of Nexus 6P in Canada cry.gif

Announced at the end of September alongside the Nexus 5X, the Huawei-made Nexus 6P is expected to start shipping before the end of this month, possibly on October 25. However, folks in Canada might not get the handset until early November.

According to an internal Bell memo (Bell being one of Canada's largest mobile carriers), "due to supply issues, Google and Huawei have decided to push out the launch date of the Nexus 6P to November 2" - despite the fact that shipping to stores will apparently start on October 23. Interestingly, right now, the Nexus 6P can't be pre-ordered in Canada via Google Store (though customers were able to place orders earlier this month), so it looks like there is, indeed, a supply problem. At the moment, we don't know if similar issues will also force Google and Huawei to delay the release of the Nexus 6P in other markets (hopefully not).

Good info regarding the new nexus quick charging

good that Google just use the standard USB type-c spec rather than going for proprietary one like Qualcomm QC or Oppo's VOOC

Once it reaches our hand, S820 already about time.

I don't think nexus fans cares much about the processor. It's the software experience got us into the product. I can take 808 for 6P anytime of the day. My nexus 5 still files with 800 on marshmallow.

If Huawei MY dont bring N6P , you can always go to Huawei SG (official shop) to buy, the good thing is that you are covered by OFFICIAL WARRANTY, would be great for people who stay in JB ... but those in KL will be more tricky ...

as far as I remember, SG who want to claim GST / VAT rebate in Malaysia need to take "flight / plane" and stay for 48 hours ... so if you are driving ... no chance ...

i think this should be 'vice versa" for malaysians visiting SG (but i can be wrong)

as for N6P Price in SG, it is very "fair", you can go see the FB comments, there is many breakdown (comparison across diff countries) .... the local SG retailer DID NOT MARK UP very much ... (after exchange rate, rental, warranty, etc) that is why you can see majority local SG people very supportive ...

but if you do the maths for SGD MYR currency conversion ... it is still very $ ...due to MYR currency weakness ....

*
Huawi MY will bring it in but it will only be the 64 and 128 ver
I was looking for 32 ver only but seem now i need to get it somewhere else

Yup it is good if we can get it at SG during promo of 899 ... while 999 would be a bit expensive ... With the falling RM now ... we can only cry.gif

seems like the price in US is still the cheapest doh.gif

Assuming the Nexus 6P 32GB will be priced the same as Galaxy Note 5 32GB, which is actually more compelling? In US the Nexus 6P is suppose to be lower priced than the Note 5 right?

Note 5 32GB is about rm2499 if not mistaken, then Nexus 6P 64GB is gonna be around probably rm2899 judging by Singapore's price. Well if no 32GB its too much for me already. sad.gif

I also keen on getting the 5X, Yet, built quality specs etc the 6P is the most preferred choice.

I presume 5X price gonna be close to 6P and based on the Specs, lotsa brands out there giving better specs for much less

The problem getting the USA set is you still need to get an compatible adapter with proper watt control (not pasar malam kind of adapter) for your charger to fully utilize the fast charging and prolong your charger and battery lifespan.

Yup. Note5 is a premium device there with premium us650-700 dollars prices tag. The 6P is a us500 dollars devices. The strengthening of dollars against every other currencies had made murican stuff too expensive and apple has hike prices by >20% in NZ,Aus,My and Norway. 40% in Brazil while "affordable" moto x pure are not as affordable anymore when the prices are the same as S6 and Z3+ locally. The moto x play are 1.5k for HK unit while equivalent chipset M4 aqua are only less than 900 ori.

No idea. If it is not then just get transformer. I never buy phone from 110V country before. Come to think of it, should be universal 110~220v because we can just buy the plug adaptor.

Calculation error bro, 4 PM here is just 1 AM at Mountain View (I follow Google's timezone).

If 10 AM US time is the embargo lifting time, then it should be 1 AM tomorrow here.

I just realize both 5X and 6P doesnt have QuickCharge 2.0?

But instead only FastCharge (thanks to USB Type C high power delivery rate)

If I were you men or women and in the market, the only things that I'd look out for is a) overheating (or NOT definitely) and b) batt life. So far from what I've read (TiA to some forumers here for the review articles' links) both bases are well covered.

Now will Huawei bring it directly and when is the only question.... fallback plan for a potential challenger? Droid Turbo 2 but this one won't be direct that's for damn sure.

Sorry, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X Don’t Support Quick Charge 2.0

QUOTE
Currently, the Nexus 6P isn't listed on Qualcomm's list of devices that have been tested and certified to be compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 chargers

Generally, if a device doesn't have the hardware to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 as well as if the charger doesn't have the same charging voltage and current, the result will be a longer charge time. For example: The Nexus 6P supports charging at 5V/3A, but if you only have a 1A charger, the process will take longer. Likewise, if you plug a 4A charger into the Nexus 6P which only supports 3A charging, it won't charge any faster.

Cheers,

Christine

Not sure how much faster compared to OP2. I guess that's the Type-C that people want

5:15
According to Josh, he had to take abt 2.5 to 3 hours to get the battery to full charge from completely death. How long does OP2 take again?

I find that statement by Josh strange, others claim the N6P comes with USB-C fast charging tech, and charging was fast.

OP2 is different, because although it uses USB-C, it DOESN'T have the fast charging feature that comes with the USB-C. MKBHD took like 3hours+ to fully charge the OP2.

The charging time reported by Josh from Android Authority differs so much differently from other sites. This is a summary of what I had read to date concerned about charging time. One thing is obvious - these are based on using the supplied charger and original type C cable

Androidheadlines : In my usage I found that the phone charged from 0-100% in under an hour, a feat that’s not matched often.

TheVerge : I'm also super impressed with fast charging. I was able to get from 25 percent up to 45 percent in just 15 minutes and charge from nil to full in just over an hour. Getting those numbers requires using the provided power brick and, yes, the new USB Type-C charging cable.

Techcrunch : but you can go from about a 5 percent charged to 20 percent in minutes.

Gottabemobile : The Nexus 6P features quick charging as well, meaning it goes from 0-50% in less than 30 minutes,

To answer another forumer query : My ex One Plus Two charging time is indeed very slow 5% to full in about 2.75 hours . And the type C cable that comes with it was horribly slow transferring data from PC to phone - I'd say is the slowest I had ever experienced in any Android

In 6P's defense, it has QHD resolution, see G4's super low score. What surprise me is 5X, I guess the low end GPU in S808 is the cause cool.gif

USB-C doesnt specifically have high power profile ( for fast charging ) as standard, that's how OnePlus tricked consumers.

I still believe fast charging for USB Type C is still not fully developed in S810 chips.

Based on reviews, the only non USB Type C phone that really employs fast charging is Moto X Style which takes only 90 mins to full up.

I guess I will be waiting for next year phones with S820. S820 will be the only chip that really take advantage of Type C fast charging

S810 doesnt have the power management chip to control charging voltage ( it's separate chip ), that's why OP2 dont have while 6P had fast charging.
Moto X Style using Qualcomm standard, while 6P using USB forum's high power profile standard developed for USB type C.

how the USB type-C fast charging depends on the S810 chip?
this is not Qualcomm's QuickCharge.

Not really. Open the link. When OnePlus adapter was used to charge Nexus 5x, it registered as "charging rapidly". Soo, ermm misleading? I'm guessing that when you use Google official adapter on OP2, it won't show "charging rapidly". And hence, still no fast charging

USB Type C Fast Charging is supported by Mashmallow. - Google IO 2015

Oh wait, what does Fast Charging to do with OS (Masmallow)? Isn't hardware based or does both related? Any engineer can explain?

Nothing to do with OS.

As long as we have the correct adapter (ie 15W output) and compatible cable (both ends MUST Type-C 3.1), the relevant quick/fast/turbo charge will be executed on N6P & N5X. But the rate won't be as fast as QC 2.0/3.0 or VOOC.

I dun like:

1) 5.7" - Too small. Minimum 6"
2) > 1080p resolutiom. 1080p is enough and most compatible. Later some software can't run properly. Not to mention it will slow down the graphic performance and waste more battery power.
3) Snapdragon 810 - this dragon breaths fire and cook your phone later.
4) Camera - 12MP?? Good or not??? hmm.gif Most phones already 13Mp standard. If it has good sensor ok lah. Otherwise, looks kinda outdated.

USB Type C Fast Charging is supported by Mashmallow. - Google IO 2015

Oh wait, what does Fast Charging to do with OS (Masmallow)? Isn't hardware based or does both related? Any engineer can explain?

Output + Medium + Input ( Power adapter + cable + power management chip ) all must support that technology. Reason for rubbish-OP2 not support quick charging tech is last component IINM.

For my eyes, 1080P max can go 5.5" only. Larger than that should need QHD already. Try compare Z Ultra against G3/4

Reason Google opt for 12MP sensor are for large pixel size, which almost guarantee improved image quality.
Megapixel are not much guarantee for quality. Try compare 16MP smartphone camera to 12MP full frame DSLR whistling.gif

Is the Nexus USB Type C which only supports USB 2.1 and not 3.0 is hardware related?

If it so. Will it mean this phone will never pull a continuum like features if Google or any other developers pull that off?

Ya, confirmed it's not USB3.0 on new Nexuses sweat.gif but it's ok for me as long it has high power profile. Continuum features from Google, not even heard of rumors so even future added, it'll be on newer Nexus already.
