Im concern about the amoled screen... Its the first time huawei come with amoled izzit...bit sceptical about that...anybody got any idea who supplies the amoled panel this time...

Last time moto n6 got amoled burn issue just a few month of usage.... Hope its not the case this time..

That's around RM2224 at least for the Nexus 6P 32GB with the current exchange rate.
Not worth it IMO. The Note 5 is only slightly more expensive but you get 4GB RAM, a better camera and stylus functions. Also, Huawei doesn't have the known reliability of Motorola, Samsung and LG.

It might be one of the best but it beats the purpose and core points of the Nexus. Nexus phones are meant to be good phones without all the gimmicks. That shouldn't cost more than 2k. Being a Chinese make phone puts it in direct competition with the 1+2 and that is below RM1800 for the 64GB version. The >2k league is just not a good place to be in for a Nexus.

I had used several HW phones, many Samsung n 3LG n my personal assessment HW reliability n build quality is one of the best if not the best

I like to think of this phone as the new huawei flagship which replace the mate 7...this way it all make sense... Qualcom soc, manageable footprint size, clean os, decend size battery... The question now is the price..all and all, if i think it as the mate 7 replacement... Its a good phone...its an upgrade from mate 7 to say the least.... But for a new nexus... Hmm..

Watching last night's announcement and reading the subsequent hands on, I'm getting more convinced that this should be my 'upgrade' from the OnePlus One.

However, my main concern is the SD810 which is known to be hot and throttles performance. Even if they can dissipate the heat well, performance suffering is kinda not worth it.

I did try to pre-order from the US/UK/JP Google Stores last night. Added some extra USD/GBP 30 for shipping costs to Malaysia (my own personal estimate) and found that JP costs a LOT for 32GB (2.8k). US has the cheapest offering amongst all (2.2k ~ 2.5k).

I had experienced the S810 chip on One Plus Two and MI NOTE Pro - both phones DOESN"T overheat at all. I supposed this overheat issues were just initial reports when chip was released

Watching the live stream on Youtube and Ars Technica and several rumor post before the event, Both Nexus devices got me worried.

I don't know if it's either their specs was made to have users fully use its Google Play services which explains why there's no removable battery and microSD card slot which is not ideal for us power user. Or it was intentionally made to fullfill US phone standard (Apple obviously).

Nonetheless, it looks like 5x and 6p would be great for people who can afford large data plan and not worry about storage and stuff. But for me, it turns me off on some aspect, and made the nexus 5 and 6 a better alternative.

What about performance? Overheating may have been countered with the heat spreader or so.

I read somewhere if you want LTE compatible in malaysia, don't order from USA and Japan. Only order from UK. However, the cost is the highest due to £ exchange rate.

Personally for me the overall performance is good . As for gaming , no comments as I don't do gaming on my phones
However between the two, my choice is on the MI Note Pro instead of the overhype One Plus Two : the MI Note Pro is slicker, smoother, nicer audio quality, with nicer display and much faster camera snap and better pictures

I reviewed the spec sheet before I decided to try to pre-order. Both Global and American models have our LTE bands. So there's not much to worry this time around. They're trying to make a 'Global' phone like the Moto X Pure/Style and N6 previously.

Oh sorry just checked again and yeah no removable battery and sdcard support for them. I meant it would be a better alternative in terms of pricing, but other alternatives would be lg g3, g4 or even other branded phone.

The rear design reminds me of the legendary HTC Legend.

The 5x if priced at <RM1200, will be a good buy. Otherwise, there's just too many competitors from China for this spec. I consider 2GB RAM as a mid range device although the 808 SOC is yesterday's champion.


I used a Huawei Ascend Mate7 previously. 6 Months and the speaker stopped working. Maybe I just had 1 bad apple...also had a faulty Samsung Note 2 previously. However claiming warranty from Huawei wasn't as easy as Samsung.

I'm still consider MI Note Pro [RM2049 @ http://www.directd.com.my/xiaomi-mi-note-pro] or other phone within that price range.

Ctrl + F 'Malaysia' and you will see that both models have the LTE bands that we need.

Short answer: YES! That is why it was very hard for me to hold myself back from clicking order.

Many N6 users here are using the USA imported version. Initially there was doubts about compatibility but proven such doubts were wrong

Mate7 has a free new replacement in first year. This was specifically highlighted on launch day which I attended. Did you ask for it as few Mate7 users got free replacement. The last user reported his 10 month old set he got it within 2 hours. HW will not repair any defective set in year one. Point reconfirmed back to me by their marketing manager after few months phone launched n I was asked to reconfirm this point.

Huawei - swapped the unit -2 days but with lots of irritating questions even though it really failed by itself.
Samsung -
1. replaced mobo - 3 days but it was my fault (Of course I didn't tell them what I did).
2. Replaced faulty charger - 10 minutes

I doubt the nexus 6p will get a 1 to 1 replacement program like the Mate 7

Waiting for some reviews would be the right way but I'm a damn Google whore and supporter that I just have to get a nexus. Still prefer them stock android experience and with a better camera, as claimed this time, I'm in.

Anyway, the nexus 6 camera ain't that bad. Took it with me to Japan and took some breath taking shots. On underexposed pictures, simply edit it with default photo app, click on the magic wand and it turned out beautiful.

For night shots, just have HDR+ on,

These phones lack what the NEXUS series offer - quick updates on latest Google firmware and numerous roms/kernels flash-ability options. This is always the reason why I would like to buy a Nexus

Actually N5X and N5 price is almost same in USD, but our bolehland RM to USD currency drop from RM3.X to now RM4.4X.

Everyone has their own preference. Note 5 is launched locally and Samsung has major presence all around the world. Huawei partnered with Google to build a Nexus phone.

Nexus products are in a different class because they are there to show off the SOFTWARE. Samsung is more for the hardware. They are improving on software but can never be on par with the Nexus because of the "1st-in-line" tag for Nexus-es. This hasn't been the case because I believe this year there was a case where Lollipop was launched for the Motorola phone (I can't remember clearly) first before a Nexus but previously, yes, Nexus = #1 in line for updates.

As for the price, you're comparing products that have to be bought directly from the US and shipped over. With our increasing exchange rate (depending on when you click the buy button, your credit card will charge a different rate), these Nexus phones WILL be more expensive than the Samsungs for a while. Samsungs on the other hand have the luxury of bulk buying (one exchange rate for a stock of 10k or more?) between their entities to sell to the local distributors and probably discount on shipping and whatever other charges. Nexus phones, unless launched here, do not.

Just look at the Nexus 6. It was what, around RM 2.6k(?) when DirectD brought it officially through Brightstar. Now that the 6P has launched, the price is RM 1.4k or so. It's really simple, if the phone is not to your liking, say so and move on. No one is shoving it down your throat to buy it.

I am not a fan of any brands - I had used before Samsung , HTC, Nexus, Sony, LG, Acer, Asus, Nexus, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo etc
Each brand has their own unique pro n cons
However Samsung seems to be a brand many hate but yet many want to buy
These days my purchase will be constrained by :
- display size , minimum is 5.5 inch prefatably 6 inches
- minimum 2gb ram
- minimum 64gb storage if no ext sdcard support
- chipset unimportant Eg I even find HW default chipset is good enough, R7+ Sd615 midrange is good enough. I don't play games so great powerful performance unimportant
- Battery size minimum 2500 mAh
- display type unimportant but given a choice prefer LCD instead of Amoled ( colors I find often too saturated n bright)
- camera : decently good n speedy is sufficient. I am just a simple point n click guy. MP not too concerned over it
I had yet to find my BEST smartphone ( which doesn't exist ) n closest to excellent will be Note5 n LG G4

oh i did enjoyed it despite using for a while.
currently still have nexus 7 2013 laying around. waiting for Marshmallow update.

Mid range and high range...for two different market..

I think I'm gonna skip this year's nexus 6 as well, as I did with last year original Nexus 6. Apart from the not-very-wallet friendly price, my biggest gripe for 2 years in a row is with the design. The original N6 has the infamous unsymmetrical/abnormal front bezels, fortunately they fixed that in the N6P. But the back is just hard for me to look at, don't know why they choose to put Cyclops' visor on there. On top of that, the camera & stuff placement is not in the ideal place for me.

Though, if I ever change my mind, I'd definitely pick the black version. It tone down the unnecessary attention of that visor thing which is good for my OCD. lel.

waiting uncle bennny review of the device

My first China branded phone was Huawei Mate6.1. Was sceptical initially about HW but the fact they were the world's 3rd largest mobile phone sellers after Apple n Samsung encouraged me to test it out. I was not dissapointed n was impressed with it. Thereafter I followed up with mediapad X1, Mate7 n p8max. All these HW phones were indeed good. I had rated Mate7 as best 6 incher I had used vs Nexus6, XZU, Mega 6.3, HTC one max, LG GPro2.
My other china makes : oppo find7 n R7+. The R7+ has now taken the crown over Mate7
My recently acquired Xiaomi MI Note Pro was a much better phone vs my ex one plus two ( another China make)
It is indeed sad China brands are often look down. But seriously now those high end phones are no longer cheap just because is China branded or make in China.
It will take some years before China brands are recognize well
Google is not dumb to select HW as their partner without any deep research into their manufacturing capability n reliability.

Any video showing how fast is the fingerprint? Heavily rely on fingerprint sensor after using Note 5 and 6S Plus.

Asked my aunt in US, she said the cost to bring 32gb version here is around rm2500, not including sirim.

So, rm2850 from techbug is kinda reasonable if they settle sirim and provide a good warranty.

No problem usually for 1-2 units. Just unsealed the box and take off phone packaging and if asked just said is for personal usage. Unlikely it will be hold by custom and if indeed hold apply Sirim permit ( RM 100) and pay 6% GST on phone invoice value. GST if brought in through courier company one will need pay directly to courier company . With personal bringing in, probably pay to airport customs ??
Buying sets from USA make sure is unlocked set and not tied to telcos
