there is no real security patches, by unlocking your phone, your phone is more susceptible to other people accessing your phone without permission. But ONLY while your phone is connected to your PC with ADB on. Just turn USB debugging off whenever you're done using it. Else, the attacks on your phone would just be brute force attacks on your online accounts. There's nothing really you can do about it.

EDIT: if you're already rooted. Then I don't see a need to turn USB debugging on anymore. Unless you're using a OS X based PC that requires USB Debugging to be turned on for file copying to work.
