Thaibev considering IPO as per news above...

Edit to add: listing valued at USD10Billion is the biggest for SGX since 2011 and includes its assets in Thailand Vietnam (great!). Stock went boom before trading halted midday.

I managed to buy some this morning rclxms.gif

Yeah,.. quite a lot of institutions watching this in SG now,... but I heard this is a secondary listing,.. and the biggest thorn here is their debt is very high. Heard from my conversations over the weekend,...
*
Is the debt due to its expansion plan into Cambodia and Vietnam market and acquisition of Sabeco in 2017?

Yeah bro,... more so towards its acquisition of Sabeco. Said Sabeco will need a few yrs to be able to start yielding results,... hmm,...

But I did not do the chk-and-balance,... just listened to the conversation only,...

OK, if debt due to biz expansions for future, I think still accumulate if hold long. Also I like their prospect of investing into Cambodia and Vietnam market.

Ok,... but I've seen long-term company plans and strategies got debunked when economic conditions changes, and especially so with so many disruptors in today's environment.

Need to be careful though, especially when gearing is too high.

Things change too rapidly today !

Yes, thanks for the caution. I will asses the risks as I move along. This is not the riskier stock that I hold as I am holding some China stocks just because of future growth potentials as I like to believe. biggrin.gif

since buying in around Dec last year, Thaibev has made me pretty happy.
the CLMV play is big.. this guy knows his bread and butter business.

not planning to sell since the cost is far from here. Alcohol isnt a bad business to be in , in ASEAN.

I like the fact they wiling to spend monies to renovate their breweries and also buying assets in Cambodia and Vietnam for expansion. These two countries are developing and growing. Besides, It's a simple business of selling beverages / beers / drinks.

Noted the stock price not moving much after its recent trade halt, perhaps most still have reservations..I entered with a small position though.

22.5 is a support level.

Wait for the support level to be broken... It might happen sooner with the contagion caused by the failed OPEC Russia oil deal. But let's see...

Yes, now already sliced thru 22.5 level, now hovering around 22.00 and testing the support level. Even if recovered at the end of today, don't think it can hold over the week(s) ahead...

The contagion effect from the oil deal do not affect just the oil counters....

Yes. Will be like 2016 all over again, with oil companies under stress. Except this time round, the expansion is lesser than that of the crazy 2014 years.
*
Maybe, but this time is different, i know it sounds cliche tongue.gif

Beside this, we still have the black swan event virus happening and see no sights of the pandemic being under control.

I foresee that we could have a protracted global slowdown for 2 or more years, so I would only buy stocks with disposable income, very selectively of course, otherwise I am happy to stay at cash position now.

FTSE ST Real Estate Investment drops more than 4%...guess SREITs are no longer safe haven, more likely direct impacts due to the virus

Yes, bro,... I saw the drops today too. Just that these drops make me salivate, and that I will be able to buy more soon.

However, I must keep in mind my asset-allocation strategy, ie not to buy too many of a supposedly good ctr/REIT. My overall portfolio green has dropped to 29.55% at this very moment. Used to be almost 40% up !

I am watching closely the retail and mall REITs. Some have pulled back so much.
*
Hold on to your saliva tongue.gif , this is just the threshold to the beginning...no hurry as we have a global health crisis now, who's visting malls, retailers etc? The previous recession we don't have a global health crisis, so this time it's different laugh.gif

Like some of us here, some companies and reits were like 15-18% gains and now is negative sad.gif

Guess now have to bite my lips and sail through 2020
*
No choice, sit through it if you can afford to do so or do a strategic calculated cut-loss. In the long term, this too shall pass like any recessions.

Look out for relieve rallies, if any if you want to rebalance or protect your capital...if it happens la

Also one should not buy too soon into the bear market at sales price, only to find out later need of cash for emergencies and then have to let go of stocks at moving out price... i too need to remind myself this repeatedly

If you have access to US stock market, better buy US stock and forget about SG.

Yes, US for capital gain

HK/China for growth

Spore only for Reits
