i hold first.. Daiwa give TP 3.37

FY19E likely to mark an earnings bottom

 We lower our FY19-21E EPS by 12-17% on cuts to associates’ outlook
 But longer-term picture remains robust, in our view
 Reiterating our Outperform (2) rating; trimming TP to SGD3.37

This one of the stocks I won't touch even if the price is good. DPU have been on a downtrend since IPO.

Hi guys, is is true, that the liquidity of SG is low and its only good for dividend stock? It seems HK is a better option for company to get better valuation.. What's your view?

True. HK market offer more choices. SG market only good for their reits mostly.

Not to mention protectionism put in by SG govt definitely contribute to it.

Hi Havoc,

Your articles are very well written. May I know your profession? If you are doing this out of interest, your research is damn good! Looking forward to more articles. In depth analysis of specific banks or stocks even better. Do you consider Sg bank stocks quite cheap?

Apart from REITS, Singapore stock are highly cyclical. This include a wide range of traditionally stable sector like Telco, Post, Consumer. I reckoned this is due to their management style that is not prudent and always chasing for high growth thru whatever mean possible. But end up with in impairment and write off. Not worth buying for long term investment.

Thanks for your kind comments. Most folks find my writing to be overly technical. I almost didn't publish this post on banks due to negative feedback from friends. I'm in financial services. I enjoy writing so I decided to share some of my insights in the form of a blog.

At the moment I think that Sg banks are a little expensive. I would only be willing to buy if they trade below book value. I prefer the big 4 China banks as they are only trading at 5-6x PE and 0.5-0.7x PB.

It is wrong to assume low book value is cheap. It got there for a reason. Most under perform bank trade at below its book value. If based on this principle alone, you may never buy stock such as PBBANK or HLBANK that trade way above their book value, yet they outperformed most of the stock in Bursa. The valuation on its book value has a lot to do with its ROA.
