Bro,... I would suggest you open DBS Vickers too, but do not buy foreign shares through DBSV. Open it to get hold of a CDP NUmber before the SGX and CDP 'closes the door' to non-residents. Again,... my opinion, bro,... having a CDP Number in hand is very important,...

" Only I open Multi Currency acc with dbs. D customer service officer was so efficient and fast as there are many forms to be print and sign by her and me. "[SIZE=7]

Congrats, bro,... thumbsup.gif  thumbsup.gif  thumbsup.gif

With an MCA, you have a whole world of facilities open to you, no ninja tricks,.. proper and ethical methods,....

bro Hansel,

Kindly guide me asap as I m running out time.

fyi, I have a cdp acc now but it s not attached to any brokerage. thinking of sgd2 per mth for inactivity (which applicable for foreign counter only irregardless units).

maybe can I transfer the counters from Std Ctd to CDP but the CDP is not linked to any brokerage. maybe I linked it once I m ready. what say you ?

still thinking how... please advise me asap.

I continue to watch Frasers Centrepoint Trust ! It's dropping slowly, as the Asset Improvement work at 'that mall',... sorry, forgot the name,.. progresses. It is slowly pricing in the rate hike on Dec 14,...

...........suddenly,.. no rate hike,.. then this ctr would run away,....

Hello sifu Hansel. Greetings from Singapore.

why do you go for Frasers Centrepoint when the dividend is ard 6% ? why not other counters ?

some other counters can give decent dividend too (and also growth).

can share your thought ?

Because one reason is I have studied FCT extensively, and have witnessed the fact that FCT's dpu GROWS over time. Secondly, there is an AEI running now in one of the major mall assets, and when the AEI is completed in August 2017, I have strong conviction that the dpu will grow.

The price has dropped recently,.. and is still continuing to drop because insts are selling. It's in their SOP - they MUST SELL because of the current events. You and I got no SOP ! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Yes, bro,.... thumbsup.gif

I think it's better that you open one brokerage acct at DBSV or at Maybank KE (see the immediate previous post by apathen). I would prefer DBSV because your MCA Acct will be abe to act immediately with a DBSV acct.. Bro,.. as for Maybank KE, make sure it's a direct holding with CDP, and NOT another nominee type of account like the one you have with Stanchart.

Try to do it before you leave SG, bro,....

Lots of REITs globally denominated in the USD, but the assets may not be in The US. IF the assets are located in the US, and USD rental is earned, then there will be 30% withholding tax. So, better read the term properly, bro,...

Don't know much abt ETFs, staying away from ETFs. It's just me,... with sufficient knowledge and time, I think I can perform better by myself than earning ETF returns.

Hi Bro, with 30% withholding tax on our dividend earned, do you still think is worth to invest in US stocks/REIT?

Morning bro,...

You are right. It's not worth it, unless your average yield is in the region of a safe 10%, then earning 70% net is acceptable. If the dpu is growing,.. it might still be worth it, though,...

BUT : there is ONE REIT now in the USD that we able to invest into and which is special, in the sense that it does not impose any withholding onto us. THis is Manulife US REIT, listed in the SGX, stock code : (sorry,... just slipped my mind this morning),.... Pls look it up yourself,... let me know later if you can't find it.

Replying to you first, bro,... there is a mistake then,... I see the different 'wallets' when I logged in to mine. Please call the DBS Helpdesk,...Bro,... you should have converted into some USDs too and give to them by-hand when you opened your MCA,...

Huh ? OKay, what I know is :-

1) For ALL other US-based REITs and Counters invested into by non-residents, you will STILL BE HIT by the 30% WTH Tax onto yr divvies even though you have completed the W8-BEN forms. Please check again and if this ruling has been CHANGED BY MY FRIEND DT, PLEASE LET US KNOW. I would really like to invest into US-based securities if true.

2) For Manulife US REIT listed in Singapore, invested into by Singaporeans and Malaysians (I'm not sure of the other nationalities, maybe similar too), yes, need to fill-in the W8-BEN Form ACCURATELY, then you WILL NOT BE TAXED THE 30% WTH Tax onto your USD dividends..

I studied this REIT sometime back,.... haven't looked at it for sometime. Yeah, I think if your investment objective is for longterm hold, it's okay,... I don't invest in this,... big cap REITs like this normally don't benefit us much, besides the longterm hold security. But, that;s just my opinion,...

My RM too told me to buy this previously,... err,.. I preferred to buy other growing counters,...
