QUOTE(Hansel @ Jun 6 2020, 04:27 PM) I.m not too sure, bro,... I intend to buy all three when the conditions are right. I entered the banks late, earlier I've been focussing on REITs and yield stocks everywhere, but NOT the banks,... guessed I missed this one,... I averaged down on DBS from $26 all the way down to $21.50,... and the price has just moved-up beyond 21.50 last two days. I wished I have not bought DBS earlier at preCovid times (average price was $26.00),.. then I would start with $19+ now, going in fresh ! I started fresh with UOB and OCBC, my strategy would be to go in everytime the price dips below my holding price. A this moment,... I'm watching OCBC closely,.... this bank has just been called to defence in a court of law by an oil-trader,...hmm.... that's impt to watch. perhaps that explains the dip yesterday, unlike the other banks.

QUOTE(Hansel @ Jun 7 2020, 11:32 AM) Huh ? Bros,.. I thought bro AV was talking abt OCBC only and not the whole STI. I think I saw OCBC dipped on Thursday back to near 0% rise compared to Wednesday close. last thu - ocbc, uob, dbs all had dips. fri - all went green. can't say the ocbc dip was due to the court case.

QUOTE(Hansel @ Jun 7 2020, 01:19 PM) If you look closely,... OCBC is still lagging the other two today,... it's the court case, but the effect is not severe enough to compress the price down into negative territory. will see tmrw. all asain bourses will likely shoot up at opening. i will be up early.

QUOTE(TOS @ Jun 8 2020, 10:25 AM) Thanks for pushing my OCBC shares upward! My OCBC holdings now sitting on a 9% gain (10% gain in MYR terms). Even bank shares are on similar profit levels with S-REITs. Either the market is pricing it correctly, or they are all in overbought territory. 9%... u must hv bought when it was still falling. the dbs i hv from a week ago is now at +14%. i do think sg banks have another 15% upside.

QUOTE(TOS @ Jun 8 2020, 10:41 AM) No, I bought when it was the most expensive during the recession in the last 3 months, around 9 dollars. (8.94 SGD, 1 lot + 3.75 SGD fee, so break even price around 8.98 SGD) Was still thinking to average down as I anticipated gloomy session ahead, and now this rally upset everything. Have to wait for another 10 years...SATS surge 5%, another crazy counter. It seems like market are pricing in far ahead of what I thought. Parkway LIFE and KDC REITs are the only 2 "normal" counters now, and that still means 8% and 6% gain for me. Banks certainly have upside, cyclical stocks are like that. my biggest upset was KDC. had it for like 8 years... incl drip, cost was 1.00. sold all... no chance to buy again... will forget.

will see how much RM/SGD will move in the coming weeks or months. msia borrowing to fight cov19; sg using savings/reserves. QUOTE Malaysia to double deficit to fund stimulus, says finance minister Malaysia's fiscal deficit will nearly double to around 6% of the annual economic output this year because of the government's recent efforts to revive the economy, the finance minister told Reuters, adding it could seek to raise the debt ceiling to finance the stimulus. Southeast Asia's third-biggest economy has announced incentives worth RM295 billion to soften the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, with the government vowing to directly inject RM45 billion of that into the economy, mostly raised through domestic borrowings. https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/529092"How bad was it during the [global financial crisis]? It was 6.7%. So we have room if we want to borrow," he said, referring to the country's peak annual deficit in 2009. The region's largest economy, Indonesia, said last month that it expected its budget deficit to swell to 6.27% due to virus-related stimulus. Tengku Zafrul said Malaysia's outstanding public debt now stands at 52% of gross domestic product (GDP) but that "if we need to, then we should increase the ceiling" beyond the current 55% "to help the people and the economy". https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/mala...inance-minister

QUOTE(Hansel @ Jun 10 2020, 02:12 AM) And as we speak,... the Ringgit has weakened again vs the SGD :- unless foreign funds start to return in a major way, can expect continuous gradual RM weakening. more so when the pressure to take more debt is ever increasing.

this, i agree... so... put all yr money on china-singapore! QUOTE HSBC sees ‘swoosh-shaped recovery’ with Asia leading the way In a mid-year outlook report, Global Chief Strategist Joseph Little said a “swoosh-shaped recovery” entails a sharp rebound once lockdowns are lifted, followed by a gradual pickup to pre-crisis levels of activity. China and industrialized Asia, including South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, are best placed to capitalize on the recovery, while other emerging markets, smaller oil exporters, frontier nations and the euro zone are less resilient, according to HSBC Global Asset Management.https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/10/hsbc-sees-s...ng-the-way.html
