Don't misjudge how bad this low price oil environment has become. The banks are Totally risk adversed to O n G sector. They do not want to lend to this sector till they see oil price UP. this is from my recent experience.
*
absolutely.

the story is worse than most people think.

not only upstream activity is hit hard, downstream refineries worldwide are holding excess refined products.

add thousands of tankers floating at sea filled to the brim with nowhere to go.

there are negative reports every week, no positive news at all.

the rebalancing is now said to "take a while longer".

i will not put my money on any O&G until the data and reports clearly show supply<demand.

INDONESIA - that word scares me.

reminds me of not-so-long-ago fret's riardy - one comment "we may move to jakarta exchange" cause the stock to tumble 20%. and no one need to answer for such irresponsible statements, not even sgx.

u wonder if that was some form of insider trading - to bring down the price and buy it up yrself.

I am using iTrade (CIMB), its easy to use. However, I have not been using it for a long while now, just collecting div for BJTOTO for like >10 years now, lost track of ROI already. I haven't had any transactions for the last 10 years, IIRC. Bursa is boring.

I am not sure of the fees compared to other online trading platforms, definitely not the cheapest.

Edit: Sorry OT.

Do u need a cimb savings acc then? I had close my savings.

Yeah i used to have bjtoto using osk but troublesome with their online acc.so i decided to close.

Thanks

local banks are for for bursa, costly for foreign shares.
ok if u buy to keep, but very costly for trading.

cimb charges sgd10 for each sg dividend payout.
better use sg bank if u can.
best to have a bank account linked to cimb itrade for ease of money transfer.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's central bank on Friday (Nov 11) severely curtailed trading of the ringgit after overnight rates against the US dollar jumped by close to 5 per cent.

Local banks are only allowed to offer dollars at Thursday's cheaper range and for specific corporate payments only.

The shock move has left traders in a lurch, and sparked fears that the ringgit - already battered in the past two years - would face huge selldown when the controls are lifted.

It is understood that no information was given as to whether the currency controls would be lifted ahead of the weekend.

QUOTE
While oil prices have jumped 17 percent since Trump was elected, they are about half what they were in 2014. Resource prices as a whole are down 64 percent from their peak before the 2008 global financial crisis, the Bloomberg Commodity Index shows. Singapore, whose economy relies on shipping and oil service firms, was exposed first because the companies were smaller and less able to tap government support.

“Singapore is a bellwether for the larger Asean and Asian region,” said Andy Ferris, Singapore-based partner at Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee. “Some of the fundamental problems those industries face won’t go away. Many of the companies in the commodities sector have high levels of debt and depressed revenues.”

Five companies in the city, including oil services firms Swiber Holdings Ltd. and Swissco Holdings Ltd., defaulted on nearly S$1 billion ($691 million) of bonds in 2016. KPMG said defaults could widen to include Singapore’s developers after home prices dropped by the most in more than seven years in the three months ended Sept. 30. China’s overheated housing market cooled in November as authorities rolled out renewed buying curbs.
Payments Due

Real estate firms in the Asia-Pacific region face $8.7 billion of dollar bonds due 2017, while energy-related companies including coal miners and oil services firms must repay $12 billion, Bloomberg-compiled data show.

if u are frequently trading RM100k or more on foreign bourses, some malaysian brokers can come close or match those SG rates; just have to nego.

of course for frequent trading of US stocks, IB is no doubt the cheapest.

ok to earn RM, but most hv increase/increment of 8-10% p.a. biggrin.gif

if 3-4% p.a., inflation and currency decay will make u poorer in the long run... like say, 52 years.

it will probably not improve at least until 2020... says goldman.

OPEC now an inventory manager rather than price setter, says Goldman

An increase in new production projects and a shale boom could add one million barrels per day to oil output by in the coming years, creating an oversupply situation and a big problem for efforts by major oil producing nations to support prices, according to Goldman Sachs analysts.

The analysts expect 2017 to 2019 to be years that would see record production capability coming on stream. As a result, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries must now weigh the relative benefit of stability by extending production cuts versus the risk of long-term market share loss, they wrote in a note.

RM falling due to crude price collapsing - opec/russia oi price war - both trying to capture market share from US shale.
