Hi, planning to get X-T1 soon. Any comments on the kit lens? Many people online said that the lens is better quality than standard kit lens of other manufacturers.

Im coming from x100, totally in love with that camera but figured i need abit more zoom for travelling.

Any XF 15-55mm or XF 18-135mm users here?

XF 18-55 is an excellant lens. I don't use it as often as I should as it doesn't balance well on my X-E2. Your heavier X-T1 wouldn't have that issue
*
How's the smoothness of the zoom mechanism? Had bad experience with my GF3 kit lens before as it felt like the zoom was not smooth. At different focal length need different torque to zoom. Actually I tried X-T10 XC 16-50 kit lens last week and it was quite plastic-ky, wasn't that smooth either but better than GF3 kit lens lah.

Can get any bokeh at wide end 18mm f2.8 or at long end 55mm f4?

16-55 or 18-55? both are excellent lens in my opinion? Zoom? Try the 50-140  brows.gif

Sorry, i was referring to XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS zoom lens.
50-140 abit too long for me. Looking for a all rounded lens. Only have budget for one lens. blush.gif

If buy bundle with X-T1, the lens comes out to be ~RM1.2k only. Buy separate is almost RM2.5k hmm.gif

Summary: get it.

It is the be-all end-all best kit lens available of any camera brand. Check out any review.

I got it with the X-E1 and now have upgraded the body to an X-T10; now the balance with the slightly larger body and deeper grip  makes the lens very comfortable.

In comparison (based on reviews):
- The XF 16-55mm is optically better and has a fixed 2.8 across the entire zoom range, but is more than RM2K more and does not have image stabilisation.  I guess if you have oodles of moolah this is a viable (perhaps even better) alternative
- the 18-135mm is super versatile for travel, but also more expensive and does not have that crazy Fujinon sharpness that we are addicted to.

I've tried higher range zooms on my Nikon setup but found them not versatile.

thx for the info.

just wondering about the current cash back. so if i buy a Fujifilm Malaysia lens from shashinki or mr. oss, which already is abit cheaper than RRP. Am i still eligible for cashback? confused.gif

wanna ask those using X series camera with wifi. can i insert a sd card from a non-wifi X series camera to perform image transfer?

eg. i pop in my X100 sd card into X70 or X-T1 to perform image transfer to ipad/phone.

will it corrupt the card or mess up the image name numbering?

Yes, you can. smile.gif
When I was on trip, my friend used my camera to transfer her photos to her iPhone.

Nope, will not corrupt or mess up the image numbering.
*
QUOTE(DaddyO @ Jul 28 2016, 11:09 AM)
That really depends on whether or not the other camera allow such transfer. By that u have try out urself. If the other cam can read the sd card from ur cam, then no problem. If it says to reformat card before use, pop it out.

If u are scared of corruption or accidental deletion, slide the tab on side of the sd card to make it "read only" then do the transfer.

thanks for the info!

good idea on the read-only switch thumbup.gif

27mm with el cheapo but metal hood yo  cool2.gif  laugh.gif
I think for XT1 and 16mm's weight... the wider Slide or Slide lite will be more suited.

PD strap is very practical mainly for its quick adjustable length.  Sometimes when I go out without a bag, I can just make it longer and sling it across my torso. There's also some times when the full tourist mode camera around neck is more suited for the situation.
*
still a good combo thumbup.gif
hows the 27mm lens? thinking of getting it to complement 35mm f2 lens. 35mm slightly too tele for me since i coming from the x100.
23mm f1.4 abit too heavy for my liking...cant wait for the f2 version though brows.gif

so the strap in the pic u posted is the PD slide lite or leash? i read reviews saying that because of the seat belt like material, it's quite slippery and tends to slip off the shoulder? recommended strap? unsure.gif

On the 27mm...

It's tiny, its light, its sharp, perfect all round focal length imo and its cheap especially if you get 2nd hand.

Then there's the downsides... no aperture ring means it feels weird when transitioning between lens, the AF motor is not silent, AF speed is middle ground imo for fuji system, the image doesn't have the "magic" or "pop" of some other Fuji lens... and I wish it were f2 instead.

I'm curious about the 23mm f2 as well.

On the strap...

The reviews saying that its slips off the shoulder is just using it wrong. It's meant to be used as a sling strap (across torso) and neck strap.

I've been using a Leash for quite a while now. Thinking of getting a slide lite as well. Best strap ever  thumbsup.gif  thumbsup.gif

thanks for the user review. haha
