Here comes the beauty of Lugu Lake - 泸沽湖, everything is so surreal yet so real. I spent 5D4N here and these are just half of those edited shots from this lake, more will be shared later. tongue.gif I strongly recommend those planning to go to Yunnan for vacation to insert Lugu Lake into your itinerary.

One of the important rules: Don't overuse HDR or shadow/highlight slider when pp. The girl jumping looks very unnatural as if shot indoor with fake scenery.

Guys, im currently own fuji x-t1, sold my 27mm & 60mm, in dilemma & thought of this 2 option icon_question.gif

1. selling the body and replace it with sony rx100 m4 or m3.
2. or buy a new/used 16-55mm f2.8 lens for my x-t1

sometimes i just want an ultra portable camera like the sony rx100 that can easy fit in my pocket and cover a bit wide range of focal length and also have a good video quality. bought a used sony rx100 m2 for my gf and im kinda like it A LOT  laugh.gif .

usually doing part time of helping my friend to take some pic and VIDEO on their event. the fuji kinda makes me look like some kind of professional cool2.gif , but the sony rx100 just look like a normal compact camera. dunno whether  should i care about "the look" or not  rolleyes.gif

sony rx100 m4 or m3
+ nice pic quality
+ great video quality
+ ultra portable

-  looks like compact camera

fuji xt1 + xf 16-55mm f2.8
+ GREAT pic quality
+ looks very professional

- normal video quality
- portable than DSLR, but not so ultra portable
- need to fork out $$$ for lens (16-55mm f2.8)

need ur guys unbiased opinion on this  notworthy.gif

More about which features you gravitate to cause these two cams serve very different purpose. If you can't decide, either buy both and then decide which to let go or i would suggest to stick with what you have if you think "sometimes" you want ultraportability.

Just wanted to share my pictures during my Kathmandu trip earlier this year. all taken with XT-1 and 35 1.4, processed with Lightroom.
I've always been a very shy person, it was very hard for me to approach random strangers and ask them to pose for photos.
However Nepalese are super friendly and down to earth, they don't shy away from cameras and will always smile for you. This is by far the most enjoyable trip I've experienced so far.

Great shot! Only complaint would be the grains are a little distracting when zoomed in.

i old my x100 the other day and by that time, i am quite sure everything was normal as it should be. however today the buyer contact me and told me that he thinks that there is problem with the shutter speed from 1/125 to 1/500. he said that he shot at around 8pm (presumably the surrounding should be quite dark), iso 1000 at f4 with shutter speed between 1/100-1/500 and the shots were constantly overexposed.. however when he shot during the day time things were normal..

wondering anyone heard anything about shutter problem with x100? im suspecting he just got his setting wrong rather than the camera problem
*
First step, reset the camera. If resetting doesn't work, it's usually the camera........or just a guy using auto.

resetting doesnt work and he was in manual mode.

Then the camera problem then. Otherwise perhaps he should post some sample of the problem photos for analysis. Really hard to tell based on broad description of the problem.

FYI, there are camera that tend to under or overexpose shot despite what you see behind lcd.

Iso1000, f4, 1/500
Is quite bright for 8pm. Must be like under spot light.

So what he's saying is that it should be dark and underexposed. But he is getting overexposed. The issue is sticky aperture blades. It's a known problem with earlier batches of X100. The aperture is wide open when you view the image in the viewfinder but occasional cannot close properly to the right f stop. That's why it's overexposed.

Fuji at one time fixed this under warranty. But I suspect most X100 will be out of warranty by now. You can try to get it fixed but they may charge you.
*
It's night so having really wide aperture probably doesn't contribute much to the overexposure. If the picture has motion blur then likely to be slow shutter speed. If not, then another explanation is the wonky iso. But I hardly ever encounter exif info that lie....unless this is just saying from the user instead of from the picture profile.

what is the ideal setting mode? thanks for advise!  biggrin.gif

to be honest i think i am under utilizing the full features of it. need to learn more.  rolleyes.gif

Nothing wrong with portrait mode. Some used to emphasise subject like the buddha statue, the wooden platform thing near the sea, or emphasise the open sky feeling in contrast with stuff at the bottom. I find people who emphasise or show more open sky in landscape mode kind of empty, IMO.

Nothing special about your shots, though maybe just because I have seen thousands of them, nothing much to criticise either.

There's no "ideal" setting but Fuji's sensor is 3:2 size so I'd prefer to use every megapixel in the sensor.

Here's some of your photos cropped to 3:2... also to avoid those empty space in the frame

Err...I actually prefer his original shot, haha. Like I said depends on how different people sees it. Your cropping it just makes it look less spacious and too balanced e.g. the sky and sea are too 50/50, IMO.

Same. Nothing to fight about, different people, different view. I actually like Sniper's flickr shots so he may have his points.

Thanks for the input!

But then X70 is a compact no? I would prefer a mirrorless though. And I don't think the excuses of not bringing it out would be applicable to me (?)
*
No problem with x-a2. Rather not recommend x70 if ends up not desired focal length. Rx100 is good but i highly recommend beginner cam like x-a2, a5100, or even nikon 3300 until they figure out their niche.

Of course for compactness and good quality img, x70 and rx100 is a good choice indeed for travel.

What I do is use those cheap foam water tumbler holder which I got from thrift shop as lens protection. It works well and only a fraction of the cost on what I would otherwise pay for a proper one.

Something like this but cheapo plain black type

For system cameras... buy into the system ie the lens available rather than just the camera body. Good luck.

Finding an alternative as lens/camera bag is fine but need to be careful with fine linen or particles produced by cheap/ not appropriate bags that deterioriate overtime. Proper cam bag still better if you can find a reasonable one.

The material is akin to memory foam so there's no lint and what not.

Besides, its only used when I bring out the lens. Otherwise they're kept in dry cabinet.
*
No problem if you find it ok. Just that bear in mind what you see may not be what you get over time. I got couple of china bags i thought will do an ok job to protect my phone, ends up disintegrated inside with the paint colour peeling all over.

wanna ask those using X series camera with wifi. can i insert a sd card from a non-wifi X series camera to perform image transfer?

eg. i pop in my X100 sd card into X70 or X-T1 to perform image transfer to ipad/phone.

will it corrupt the card or mess up the image name numbering?
*
That really depends on whether or not the other camera allow such transfer. By that u have try out urself. If the other cam can read the sd card from ur cam, then no problem. If it says to reformat card before use, pop it out.

If u are scared of corruption or accidental deletion, slide the tab on side of the sd card to make it "read only" then do the transfer.

Can anyone recommend a fujifilm mirrorless camera model that is on par/better with Sony A6000? My budget is max 2k.
*
I don't think anything can match Sony a6000 at that price range. Unless of course you r talking about "looks", which Sony is the nerdy kid with plain t-shirt compared to Fuji, hipster in classy tux.
