QUOTE(clivengu @ Jun 29 2016, 11:46 AM)
Guys I just sold my beloved x100s. Suppose to change to x70. But currently I am having a second thought if I should get a XT10, as the price are quite close.

Although my initial thought to get x70 is because of its SIZE, wifi, classic chrome, wider focal length, faster focusing speed than my x100s. I know with X70, it will be a camera that replace my hp camera.. it will follow me anywhere I go daily... go mamak, go shopping, take food photos. But I am actually struggling if this is the right call, as I might end up missing the EVF and F2 aperture... No bokeh~~ I wonder if it will end up feeling just replacing my hp camera and I will start to miss the actual photography experience.

Now with Xt10... if I get this camera, Im sure this camera will 90% of the time be used during my travelling (once or twice a year) The rest of the year will probably be in my shelf. I wont bring it to mamak and yamcha. But it will be fun to use when travel. Even so, when traveling, I will not bring more than 2 lenses, to keep the weight down.

I think I can see it this way, X70 for everyday general usage, Xt10 for specific purpose (travel, family portrait, babies). I will like to know how is the quality of the 18mm f2.8 lens on the x70 compare to, xt10 with 18-55mm F2.8-4 kit lens. At 18mm F2.8, for both camera, will the kit lens on par with the x70 in terms of lens sharpness? On my previous sony E mount system...then x100s, im always a prime lens user... because I find zoom kit are not worth it most of the time. but I heard the fuji 18-55mm is quite good? Maybe I can give it a chance ?

Cant make up my mind... can share some advice? maybe it can ease my decision haha..It will be 3-4 years before I change camera, so i want to make the wisest choice. thanks.

* or (Xt10 + x18mm F2) vs x70? image quality wise?
*
I've been going with a main camera + "compact" setup since like forever so I'll share my 2 cents.

The key points here are photography experience and how to do forsee you'll be carrying the X70.

I spent most of my weekdays on office attire, both my pockets were occupied with my phone on one side and coins+keys on the other.

Even though my own compact setups (RX100 and GF7) are pocket-able, I don't have enough pockets for it especially during summer time when I don't wear a jacket.

Because of this, I missed a lot of shots because I left the camera on my desk or just plain too lazy to bring it out etc and used my phone instead.

And if I were to carry a man bag, my main setup (X-E2) would also fit without any significant weight or space penalty.

Just wanted to share my pictures during my Kathmandu trip earlier this year. all taken with XT-1 and 35 1.4, processed with Lightroom.
I've always been a very shy person, it was very hard for me to approach random strangers and ask them to pose for photos.
However Nepalese are super friendly and down to earth, they don't shy away from cameras and will always smile for you. This is by far the most enjoyable trip I've experienced so far.

coming from e1,m and t1 any fuji with 24mp will be considered even if it comes with plastic body with affortable price of cos..i could be benefiting from extra pixel in the things i shoot, i can crop further more when needed.
*
Actually I don't really care about 24MP... I just want non-waxy high ISO jpegs niah.

On another note, first shot outside with the 18mm.

Rendering looks nice.

i have one now for sale as well  biggrin.gif and agree on the slow AF.. sometimes i think that I can MF faster when using my canon rangefinder.. doh.gif

but in dilemma whether to choose x100t or xt-1.. im pretty much an ovf guy and would really miss the ovf if i move to xt-1.. but the tilt screen of xt-1 would be very useful for me too..

You will always have OVF on your canonet biggrin.gif

i'd most probably pair it with a wide angle if i'm getting xt-1.. but since there is now rumour about x200 introducing soon, would just wait and see what's the spec like..

What other systems are using now?

Hey guys, I am using xf18mm f2 currently. I noticed that while on tracking or continuous af mode, the motor is abit noisy. Is this normal?
*
The 18mm has a traditional micro motor which is inherently noisy. It's quite snappy in single AF so we don't hear it as much but obviously we'll hear it more during tracking/CAF when it has to work non stop.

Bought one Helios and tried previously. Find it hard to focus for that lens because need to turn the focus ring a lot in order to be in focus. (Forgot what's the technical term. tongue.gif )
*
How does the output of the helios look on the fuji's film simulation?

Got samples?

My last experince with the helios was on a Canon and I ordered another one by impulse last night.

what is the ideal setting mode? thanks for advise!  biggrin.gif

to be honest i think i am under utilizing the full features of it. need to learn more.  rolleyes.gif

There's no "ideal" setting but Fuji's sensor is 3:2 size so I'd prefer to use every megapixel in the sensor.

Here's some of your photos cropped to 3:2... also to avoid those empty space in the frame
