Currently peugeot have promotion for the parts that always "kong", at least for my pug which I have replace it under warranty, 3 out from that 6 items listed had being replaced under warranty for my 408T, maybe this is good for owner that their warranty already expired....

Just to express my opinion after owning 408T for 4 years coming may 16 and clock 90k km on my 408T...

Any one ask whether happy to own it, I will honestly said not at all, 4 years of owning it this is the major replacement owning it for 4 years
1. Aircond Cooling coil
2. Aircond compressor
3. THP high pressure fuel

The last major replacement

4. Brake disc on front wheel

Yes it need to be replaced after change brake pad for 2nd time,  and the gear knob broken when the car return after services last saturday, it is good when sent in... almost give up owning it, do not get me wrong, the drive is good but owning and maintain is really killing... wonder how other ppl honestly feel owning it...

Those are things I don't expect to fail so soon with my experience of owning Wira1.5 and City. Major repair was auto gearbox for my Wira after 15 years, aircond compressor after 10 years. And City is not better, replaced steering rack after 2 years and 5 years, and flywheel after 6 years.

Respect your honesty. You are absolutely right. This car is a cash sucker for sure and I am beginning to feel it. There is a 1.8 Altis in my family, never had changed any major parts for 6 years other than tires, battery, wipers, tats all. Our 3+ years 408 is really a killer when comes to maintenance, especially changing those parts never been opened in Jap cars. My both cars about 100Km now but I have spent almost double the cost on 408. Mine only 408NA, not sure about 408T.

2014 till facelift ,3008 shared the same engine with 408t - EP6CDTM
Now all facelift 1.6thp Pugs - EP6FDTM

Both these engines would have the same normal & major service cost. EP6FDTM is further refined on EP6CDTM's high reliability.

In 2012, I was very keen on the 3008,but found only 408 offered EP6CDTM. From my research then itself i understood the mods made on this Prince will render it reliable. I mean I went down to design details, like eg what effect the redesigned pistons had on premature carbon deposits! Carbon deposits were a huge problem with all direct injection engines. Early Prince suffered considerable reliability issues. Total of 8mods on this engine improved reliability!

After 4 years, pleased to say, I was not wrong! Still enjoying my Lion! Get the 3008, you'll thoroughly enjoy it. tongue.gif

Thanks for sharing your experience. I called the service centre yesterday and inquired on the service. The technician did share that normal service is around rm510 but the major service is around rm1.8k. Major service is quite high for me but understood euro cars are expensive in maintenance.

Is it true usually the water pumps and the turbo is the usual culprits when it comes to issues on the pug 3008? Hope for your kind advice. Thanks.

Yes major service on Contis is high. Major service is at the end of 3rd year, so its not a yearly expense. At this service all fluids and some essential engine parts are changed, hence the high price. It is essential, cos the THP is a high performance engine. There's greater wear & tear on performance machines than a NA. After major service was done on my engine, it has an amazing, like new feel. I was absolutely overjoyed to have my engine running so crisp, even after 3years!

Water pumps & turbo were a problem on early 3008s. Turbo units are redesigned, water pump is on the recall list presently. I believe that problem is also solved.

BTW, I test drove BMW X1. To my surprise it did not handle corners as well as the 3008. 3008s body roll at corners was very well controlled.

Just bought the items under spare parts promotions.
Wiper set rm140
HPFP rm1000

And they checked for my recall list again and have 4 new recall items. Previously checked on Jan16 only have recall for temp sensor and water pump. Now have 4 more. So total item for my car 6.

Good to know that peugeot is taking their QC issue seriously by having these recalls.

Skyjack, I believe you among the early one getting 408, so u have change to 3008? Though same engine, did u feel 3008 better than 408?

No bro, I did not switch to the 3008. 2014/15 3008s share the same engine as our 408t. As I know details of this engine reasonably well, was just trying to help bro metalrash understand it.

Still with my beloved 408t, however i'll most probably switch before the end of this year. It's going to be hard to let my Lion go as she's running like a dream! Have made an appointment for the enhanced package next month. After retrofitting this package she's going to be so good, it will be even more difficult to let go!

This was checked by service centre and they allow me to take photo for my record.

The centre at sungai petani is closing down and they request me to make appointment at Penang for the recalls job.

yesterday sent in my near 3 years 408T for warranty claim on Aircon Compressor. It was loud like driving a truck which u can hear the sound in cabin when driving.
So many 408 having similar issue when I sent my car during the morning. Til evening my car yet to diagnose. This morning they confirmed the compressor is the problem and will replace it.

for me when it started to sound til sent to bluebox, the aircon is cold, just that the sound is too loud that whenever I passby guard post the guard will ask, malu betul..haha..
then u will only hear the lorry/truck sound after turning on A/C to indicate such issue.. seems quite common even with 3008 as well, not sure with 508 or 5008
