Doesn't seem like the EA211 engine has a flat torque band from 1,500 r.p.m. to 3,500 r.p.m. but seems like the torque is higher than claimed. Was the run done using a very low gearing?
*
Yes, many owners who dynoed their cars were actually surprised with the numbers it returned. They were higher than what's stated on paper.
The test was done on gear 3, gear 4 actually return even better numbers. Although the torque isn't flat, drivers still get over 200nm of usable torque from 2100RPM all the way till 5000RPM.

Would be nice to see how the 408THP engine performs from 0 to 3500RPM, that would give us all a clearer picture of how the engine and power kicks in over the entire range.

The only two things I can think of higher torque than the claimed figure, is due to the positive error (accuracy) on the dyno tester or using gear with ratio higher than it supposed to.

If 4th gear returns with better figure than 3rd gear, then this is weird, consistency issue or repeatability error hmm.gif

I would actually prefer to have slightly lower flat torque than to have higher torque but starts to drop early.

The dyno figures done between GT auto and Vision Sunway are more or less very similar to each other. There are also dyno reports found at JC racing which reported similar numbers so I would say those numbers are quite accurate.

Then there must be something wrong with the in house dyno tester in VW R&D. I wonder if we from the water spinach country is better than those Germans when comes to this kinda test hmm.gif

Not sure why is that we aren't seeing the flat torque as the manufacturer claimed.

Some dyno testers are calibrated periodically, if they do that, there is a accuracy report which is most of the time traceable and you can find out how accurate is the reading typically from 10% to 100% of the range.

I noticed most of the dynos here in this country, are not calibrated periodically unlike in the west. As calibration is at a premium, with revenue into consideration, here, most of the auto shops are not doing it.

BMW e90 320d has 380NM of torque rated on engine...

but when most of it are put on to the dyno... some even got 420NM on wheel..
the average figures is 375NM on wheel there about...
and mind u that is running shitty euro2 diesels and their cars is stock...
wink.gif

and no u can never get an exactly flat dyno results...
pseudo-flat got la... but u will never get a pure flat line... wink.gif

Hey, just wanna ask u guys, whether our 408 can have the trip computer shown on the radio display cos I saw a 408 2.0 has it but I can't do that in my 1.6 thp. Another thing I notice is that 308 has the "oil OK" sign every time u start the car but not in mine, is it just me or 408 is like this?

Yes you can. Select the mode button( top left near volume control) on the radio panel. Change trip display by pressing center button on wiper stock. 'Oil OK' display is not available on 408.

Trip display change by pressing the wiper stalk button should be repeated at centre mfd. If selecting the mode button does not include trip indications, perhaps yours needs a software reload.

Ok, I'll inform sc regarding this, thanks a lot… haha. btw, when I put the car in neutral and rev the engine, a rattling sound comes out from the engine bay once I let go the accelerator, is this normal? And, is it normal that the coolant level is below the minimum level? It's a less than 1 year old car.

Should still be valid. Just hope that the previous owner followed the service schedule meticulously, the French (not Nasim) are very anal about that.

Since service record booklet is available, very easy to check. Every service should not exceed:
a) 6 months
b) 10kkm
Both conditions apply, exceedance of 14days & 500km max permitted.

If these conditions have not been exceeded, then warranty is valid and transferable to new owner.

The rattling noise is abnormal. My car is on the 4th year, I do not have such noise.

Coolant level on your car should not drop. Most likely there a small leak at the water pump. I had similar drop in coolant level. For the last 3years every time I complained, SC said no leak and just topped up coolant. At the end of 3rd year water pump was changed at major service. Guess what...... the leak has stopped like magic!

No la, they played me by saying no leak all the while. Major service is bored by customer, so in the end I had to pay.

Just keep insisting to change water pump as long as the level is dropping. Ask them where is the water going, if it's not a leak. If you got a spare car, refuse to accept your Pug until water pump is changed.

But try to get the pump changed at Belakong or Glenmari. I feel you may have better success at these 2 SC.

Appreciate you sharing your stock dyno. Quite interesting to see how a Peugeot engine performs.

The choice of transmission does indeed affect the output of power and torque.

In comparison, a stock Golf mk7 tsi of similar turbocharged engine capacity outputs these sort of numbers.
*
This is my first time seeing a dyno where the figures on wheels is higher than on paper (crank). Maybe a more knowledgeable person or a experienced VW owner can explain how does this happen. Or maybe it is just a simple case of under declare the power output on the brochures.

But one thing i know for sure is that the DSG is really efficient. I saw my friend's roc 1.4 tsi stock dyno, it was around (if i remember correctly) 150hp and 230nm on wheels (stock is 160hp and 240nm). The transmission and mechanical power lose is so little. Very impressive. Which translate to a better base power figure to start off if they choose to mod it. But anyways, thats a VW.

Ok ok … I should be visiting sc next two weeks for 20k service… but I'm from johor so hope that the sc will change for me… btw, if I insist them on the problem but they do not do anything can I refuse to pay until they provide me a satisfactory solution? Cos I've had very bad experience with the sc here… very very bad…
